I'd be petrified to have Bob Dylan draw a picture of me, staring again and again with those stern, scowly, dagger sharp eyes.

Rex Mundi What a cool drawing. Bob Dylan was not only a great songwriter, he was also a good artist too. Kanye going around calling himself a genius; he doesn't know what true genius is. Dylan is genius; Ray Charles was genius; Stevie Wonder is a genius. Kanye is NOT a genius.

Actually, he literally, predicted exactly what Nirvana would do, and the exact year they would do it. 2:49 This interview was in 1986, ‘Nevermind’ was released in 1991. That’s when Nirvana completely changed the landscape of “Popular Music”. Before that, it was inconceivable for an “underground” Artist to become “famous/Pop Stars”. And, Nevermind went on to be higher on the Charts-than Michael Jackson. ‘Nevermind’ is what ended “synthetic”, carbon copy, Pop and Rock Music-that Dylan was talking about.

It depends on what kind of modern music you're listening to. Popular music is only crappy now because it's easy to listen to for the casual music fan, who doesn't really give a second thought to the quality of their music. But that's just what it is- popular music. Very little of today's music is actually popular or well known, there are many unknown yet brilliant artists around today, you just don't go looking for them.

He's cool with metaphors! Choosing to draw the interview in the first place, then the interviewer asks him if he likes what he has drawn and he answers that there is a bundch of thing he don't like about, but he will get it right! Lol, like he is working on the interviewer, basicly somehow softening him or reschooling him. Not that i think he is preaching or beein holy and all that stuff, just giving him a human face - he is even drawing him quite loveable somehow :)

"In four or five years, it's all going to turn around" - yep, it sure did. You could say this was prescient - but I guess even in 1986, the signs were there. In 1991 we got what the press called "grunge" - and that spawned alternative music after. But what Dylan talks about regarding synthetic music, having no ... history ... well, it went and got one - the machines got better, but more importantly, the _use_ of those machines got better - and it went and got that history. The important thing being the _creative_ use, by humans, of those tools. He was 45 at this time - and hell, he looks it - hard life, I guess. 31 years later, he's still touring. Still touring - the never ending tour.

The music back in the 90s was interesting,..But now many of the musicians from that time are in their 30s & 40s and have stopped making interesting music. Today i find music coming out totally synthetic. I can't even bear to turn on the radio. Not to discredit good musicians out there, ( i'm sure there are many), ..but they are just not being heard.
