Sadhana Rajkumar, a nutritionist-turned-conservationist, is on a tireless campaign to bring back sparrows and is distributing nests - free of cost - across India.
The Chennai-based activist has given out over 1,700 nests in nine years.

Great sister. I am also doing this at Erode. when i shift to my new house we dont have single sparrow.... i do start to put some foods regularly even no birds.. it started to come to our home by Two... then, now, nearly 10 months gone, almost 60 sparrows are here.. we are happy.. now my sons are also feeding when i am not available at home.... Happy to share.

I tried very hard made a shoe box bird house but no sparrows came. I am staying in Ashok Nagar Chennai,can you please help? Though parrots, squirrels and crows visiting our house daily. We put clean water along with food for them.

Hello.. i have two small sparrow in my backyard. They stay in the branches of mango tree.. i had placed a nest near by to it.. a source of water and millets sprinkled around the area.. but stll they are not eating them and not living in the nest?? What should i do..??.. Please help

I have seen lot of sparrows at Shimoga in Karnataka in 1999, i worked in Indian Express at Smimoga Branch for 10 years , now I retired at Bangalore , u can't see the Sparrows in Bangalore....

Im from Sri Lanka. I too love sparrows being around us. I have a big problem. In my current place i have kept 3/4 pots around my home and most of them are occupied by sparrows. Im planning to move near my mother's place near future for my personal reason. But no sparrows live in that region. what would i do to bring them into my new place? (already set few pots up but no one has come since no availability) if i catch 3/4 from my current place and release them in the new place, will it work? plz provide your solution

No..please don't do that. They are territorial birds..other birds may attack them. Place water bowls Grow native plants Hang bird feeders. These may attract the sparrows

Hello Ma'am In my area sparrows are seen , I keep food,water, for them. Also I had kept a nest for them, but pigeons disturb us so much. Whenever I put food and water, pigeons come and then they don't allow any birds to come. Can you tell me, any tricks to keep pigeons away... Thank you

Great work Sadhana Ji. I believe the hole dia in your terracotta nests is more than the sparrows like. Their adoption rate increases at a hole size of 32mm. That is my personal experience too. I have been actively helping grow sparrow population in Gurgaon. Now I want to extend it to my farms in Panipat, Haryana. Do you have a knowledge on what kind of shrubs I can grow to provide them a natural habitat?

Just make on yourself. You can use strong cardboard to make a nest. There are many videos about it. Just make sure the whole is just big enough for sparrows so that no predator can get in. And if you have a feeder, but bajra in it. Sparrows love bajra
