I am currently Pursuing PLAB …….Somethings he never mentions….. 80 hours / week (6 days) is far worse than 48 hours of UK …..if you truly talk about money , you can easily make same as USA (in residency)if you works the hours you work in USA. Locums are easily available which pays 2-3 times per hour than standard hours. And NHS has same policies to protect your work life balance , 1 day off , 1 month paid leave , no one can make you work more than 12 hours/day , if you overworked you get paid leave the next entire day to rest. So, honestly it’s not your plus point to talk about.😅 pursuing USMLE is far more expensive and risky in the end than PLAB. ( only reason I couldn’t pursue it.) ……the amount of money you invest is not a joke for middle class family. And it’s uncertain in the end when you start making money or even if you will get into US medical training. Those per year salaries are not accurate…..you don’t earn 30000/year in uk as resident. It’s the amount for the fy2 only and that’s after tax deductions and only for basic 48 hours/week. No one works only 48 hours/week as fas as i know. And honestly residency and jobs in uk are far more flexible than USA........some doctors don't even go for residency, they are happy to work as GPs (equivalent to mbbs in india) and gradually can start earning as much as a consultant....some even doesn't take job at all...they can only do locums as long as they want and earn the same(you can take a break in your training at any point you feel)..... You are not in a race of progression in your profession ignoring problems in your life in UK, rather getting respected for your hardwork in any form, while USA barely cares about you opting out or taking a break, i have even heard they prefer the IMGs who have cleared their USMLE in first attempt or during their mbbs (as if people don't have problems in life that can restrict you from taking usmle) I mean i get it, you get little biased for the things you support and adopted in life.... We all are....... But misleading others in something this serious is not a way to go.

I am a practicing physician for a long time in US. Nicely made video, Except for the fact that it's almost nearly impossible to get top class surgical branches like plastic surgery or neurosurgery as as this doc is claiming despite having may >90 scores. Americans reserve prestigious surgical branches and interventional branches for mostly US graduates.... Getting into these branches for a foreign graduate is next to impossible. IMG'S mostly( 99% times) only get primary care branches/non interventional branches... Psychiatrist is one of those ..least sort after....and one of the most easiest branches to get into for IMG's...

To all people trolling dr manik its his choice and he can choose whats better for him. No need to spread toxicity

I have a very small safety net at home, my parents are not rich, no family in the US. But I have a dream of being a resident in the US someday (God willing). And the way Manik highlighted the benefits of the whole journey makes me want to take the risk. It is a huge investment in the beginning, it would cost a lot. But hopefully, I'll be able to pay back my parents once I become a resident doctor! Thank you, Manik. You've given me the hope of taking this leap of faith

Actually, failing and being “done” for residency is not true. I know plenty of people including my close friends who have upwards of 2 fails and some with even three who have matched in IM and FM programs in united states. Its not impossible as this guy is making it sound out to be. You have to have a strong application overall. Yes, some programs have a limit but many dont. Again this is coming from a Canadian who is applying for match this year in United States.

You know i was so excited at first but after listening all these uncertainties and knowing how unlucky i am, at cost spending 10lacs. Is something scary. Even if i want to go through these i won't be able to. I've already spend 77 lacs for my mbbs in KMC Manipal. But i really want to do residency at US

Some of the stuff he says is ridiculous lmao. Most American residency candidates are 26 when they start, 27 max. Outliers exist, but rarely. Dr. Manik himself is 27, having passed out way back in 2020. It’s not as if you graduate mbbs and it immediately starts off, it’s a long process. Be goddamn honest with it. What plastic surgery? People don’t get general surgery only, with stellar scores, and he’d surely make plastic surgery but CHOSE psychiatry out of goodwill? To realistically get plastic surgery, he’d have to do unpaid or meagrely paid research there for 2 years or something. And network like his life depended on it. Also, it’s not as if he’d just do plastic surgery and immediately make a million up. As an Indian medical graduate, you gotta spend 3 years in the rustics to waive off your j1 visa. They don’t just hand you the high flying jobs immediately after residency is over. He’ll earn 300-350k after residency, 350 if lucky. Which ain’t bad. But it doesn’t climb much from there. Maybe 10k usd climb, every 3 years. He’ll cap out in life at 450k-ish. Other options exist (practice in Aussie, Dubai, Singapore, etc and earn more or better), but he didn’t mention those. An open discussion about it would’ve been better, instead of flirting around the topic with his rant on depression and advent of technology lol. Or some tangential talk of “could’ve gone into plastic surgery” lmao. Also, his shitting on the PLAB route is very misinformed. You make 2700 GBP AFTER taxes, working basic 45 hour weeks during FY2. You’ll make 50k INR per day of the weekends if you pick them. Can surely make around 4-5k GBP, if you work longer hours, or same hours as USA residency. During ST and CT years, scope of pay is even higher. What ignorance lol

Why he is saying NEET pg is easiest lol. In my words it's more competitive and hard than USMLE lol. I really don't wanna go through USMLE stuff but for me it's easiest and you don't get that much salary in USA than USA citizen and than India too if you are considering cost of living. I would first suggest India means NEET pg and next stuff and then uk and then USA. If you are citizen of USA then it's USA or if you are rich in India then try for USA 👍
