Finally one person who understands. This is literally history in the making. Like Mr. Ford making the car for the very first time. It's the first (actually functional) walking and mobile robot made! How can people say "cool, but what's the point?" Actually, dumb people were like that since the beginning of time. I bet they asked Ford the exact same question saying "but real horses are a lot more useful!" Oh boy.
Should have given it a fur patch.... Ford, using boston dynamic's (aka google) product to perform physical google inquiries of their structures..... Curious if this is one of the selling points for spot, or if Ford came up with it on their own?
Not today or tomorrow. But eventually. Considering you can program them and they won't be unpredictable like real-life dogs (plus many downsides of a real dog) it can help a lot more people in the future. Think of it like this: you're a blind person but you can't have an aid/helping dog because you're allergic. Also no time wasting on training the dogs for years and years for them to be able to be service dogs. Easier to take in places where pets are not allowed. When you fly you can just store them in the plane, etc. etc. Like I said, in the near future, maybe somewhere around 10 years from now.
Real dogs and Spot bot can both detect coronavirus . Only Spot bot can "speak" to patrol and remind people to social distance (Singapore park) plus no need to take it for a poop walk
To map out their facility, especially when it's large and stuff are moved around for new models. It's a level 2 automation designed to make a employee work better. The company that made that dog is working on another that would work as a stunt double for movies.
