Skateboarders typically start young, but age is of no concern for Yoshio Kinoshita. The 81-year-old began learning the sport two years ago. Now he can glide around the local park in Osaka alongside skateboarders decades younger than him.

So Japan's 13 y/o girl won a gold medal in skateboarding, and an 81 year old is staying healthy doing skateboarding! Great cross-generation sports craze!! Love it!

As a young at heart lady in my 60s, I can't ride a bike anymore since I have no balance due to my illness, so for this 80 year old man to get on a skate board is Totally Deabak! 👵💜

1:30 Words of wisdom. So true that us older guys (I'm 52) need to practice it LITTLE BY LITTLE, OFTEN, to get the muscle memory. Once you learn a new trick, you need to do it over and over again for days in order for it to sink in.

Maybe. You're steps maybe smaller and take longer to hit milestones but that you can't learn.

Impressed. Fun to learn that he used alcohol intentionally to calm his nerves, push himself over that edge. Becoming older has that nasty side-effect where fear of death or injury, of losing elements of the livelihood you built up for yourself, prevents you from taking a risk and enjoying life a bit more. Skateboarding and learning tricks is much more fun than sitting in front of the TV all day.
