After suffering from sleep apnea, John was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation (AFib). He tried medications but they didn't work so he underwent a catheter procedure to treat his AFib.
AFib is the most common type of cardiac arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat. During AFib, the upper chambers of your heart, the atria, beat rapidly or in an uncontrolled manner, which can feel like a flutter. When your heart beats erratically, it does not pump blood as efficiently as it should. You may feel ill or experience other AFib symptoms because oxygen isn’t being properly delivered to all parts of your body. Awareness of treatment options for Atrial Fibrillation is insufficient with patients often under-diagnosed and/or referred too late.
