Late 1940's is about when Disney Studios produced a BRILLIANT cartoon animation with Goofy: "Mr. Wheeler." It should be a must-watch for all driving students. It's about road rage, an extremely serious problem.

They forgot to mention that the shares for the few large corporations on the stock market mainly ! belong to the upper segment of the population. The inequality was there in 1949 and it has gotten much worse since that video was created - it is from 1949 according to the textbox. They also forgot to mention how the state ! (Big Bad Interfering Government) financed a lot of basic research and infrastructrue which was handed over to for profit corporations (everything to do with electronics, PC, the internet, smartphones, also a lot of medical research, now AI - almost all of it was justified with "military necessity". Electricity - "In 1882 Edison helped form the Edison Electric Illuminating Company of New York, which brought electric light to parts of Manhattan" * - read local government SPENT on introducing the infrastructure of a new technology that Edison wanted to see implemented. (they had gas lighting then so it was not like they had NO lighting). Read without PUBLIC INVESTMENT the invention of Edison (and the people around him ! ) would not have been economically viable. And it was a hierarchial top down approach of Government, meaning a relatively small number of city representatives decided "we are doing this", it was not like they waited for the "free" market or a number of (maybe libertarian leaning) indivuduals. And they did not make a referendum about it. * from www(dot)nps(dot)gov/edis/learn/kidsyouth/the-electric-light-system-phonograph-motion-pictures(dot)htm The interstate highway system was built with tax money and with the justification, that it was necessary for the military to move tanks and other military equipment and troops around in the country - not sure how plausible that is. During WW2 the German army and also the Soviet army used the railway a lot for the logistics IN the country. A tank by definition can drive everywhere - including not so good streets of offroad (steets may be worse off after the tanks moved by). Thinking about it: that would be a strong argument to move the tanks in the country with the railway - as to spare the domestic streets the damage. The German army in WW2 did not wait for the French, Polish, Austrians, Tschechs, Hungarians, Belgians, .... to build a highway system and to meet any superior standards. They just invaded (in the case of France unexpectedly from the side of a mountain area, medium altitude. On streets and passages that the French government had not deemed likely to be suitable for tanks or an invasion. Anyway: WHO would have invaded the United States after WW2 with a conventional army ?? - The danger was nuclear war. When was the last time the U.S. had a FOREIGN army on their soil or at the borders (the Spanish and the French). And: when you have a airforce very capable of defending your airspace - and bombing any foreign army even nearing the borders - the military reason seems more like a PRETEXT. The truth is, the fossil fuel producers (which at that time were not necessarily allowed to export) and the car manufacturers WANTED the interstate highway. They did not want a major part of the goods transported on the nationalized railway, nor did they want the citizens to travel longer distances with a first class railway system. So the U.S. government COULD have argued that they wanted to give the automobile industry and the fossil fuel industry a handout to promote their business. But there could have been discussions to do something ELSE with the money. And also discusssion why other parts of the business community would not get the same indirect subsidies - providing of the infrastructure that was necessary for the use of your product (Answer: Automobile and Fossil fuel were already very rich and powerful and had the ear of the government. Aand they had the media with advertisements, so no one would contradict the narrative). The notorious EpiPen, malaria - the medical research resp. development paid for by the military. Walmart imports more from China than many other countries (made possible by agreements between the Chinese and the U.S. government). The U.S. defended the interest of United Fruit company (and companies like them) in the banana wars. Note it is always the large corporations (on the stock exchange) that get that kind of handouts - not small biz. The very kind of businesses that are entitled to make a lot of profit and who claim they did it all on their own. And we should be thankful for their willingness to invest. This is the message of that video and the sentiment has not changed since then.

First of all the military doesn't move goods by tanks they use trucks. And just like the government subsidized installing electricity to replace gas lamps to fuel progress They did with the interstate highway system. Unfortunately they didn't deregulate railroads so they could compete effectively while doing this so it caused a huge problem.

Yes everything's made, more correctly, assembled there because no one else on this planet are willing to work that much for that less. Some industrial countries such as Germany, Japan and Italy are important because they can produce good cars, electronics, even warships and stuff. However superpowers remains super powers because they can design and build something other country cannot. As at 2022 they are computer chips, air jet engines, and many more. So super powers remain super powers. Being said, since a lot of simple job has been moved to cheap countries which can be a blessing for the simple people there. Labour force in America should be given the opportunities to move to more advanced, more complicated and more valuable works that made America a super power in the first place. Such "new inventions" shown in the cartoon. Cars, trucks, TVs are no longer cutting edge technologies now, but there are still tons of works to be done to make them even better.

Lol, funniest thing I've seen in ages. ... Can I be a wagon parts maker?! :-p Maybe as someone with no debt to my name I'll be able to pay for my own things without bailing out banks who use my manual labor as a golden parachute. Disgusting.

Today Joe has to decide to either start his own business or get a degree. The simple laborers of today can't make ends meet and have no future in America. They've been outsourced. In my opinion, this fact is a good thing because it encourages entrepreneurship or college educations. That "coolie" is the Joe of today, but they don't have it near as good as Joe had it in the 40s. Rich business owners give much higher percentages of their wealth to the lower classes in America than in other nations which is why we've outsourced.

This was b4 CRONYISM and GLOBALISM (much of it caused by regualtions and tax policies that forced businesses out of the USA or out of business altogether) and the VICTUM/ENVY culture overtook our country.
@creationismandevolutionlea9705
I disagree with you on three points. #1 - Cronyism and Globalism are the result of free markets. Neither of the two are, in and of themselves ,bad things. Cronyism happens when free people chose freely who to do business with. Globalism happens because of 21st Century technology makes it cheaper to ship a product from Viet Nam to LA, then from Chicago to LA. #2 - Neither Cronyism and Globalism were "caused" by regulations and tax policies. Cronyism is a result of Natural Law that says people want to do business with other people like them. And Globalism is caused by free markets looking to maximize their profits. #3 - "victim/envy culture" did not overtake our country. The victim/envy culture has been around since the beginning of time. The only thing that has overtaken our culture is the view that you propose that wants to demonize anyone that thinks different.
