This is adorable, my dad made those little wood things on the side of the cage for no poo to get out, and it was for free it’s easy to make if you have a fa ily member that is like a builder
We're actually buying a Chinchilla soon 🥳 but our step up will hopefully be a bit more cheap with my grandfather being super wood crafty & is excited to help us get it all ready
Before getting a chinchilla do your research and remember they live 15-20 years. I don’t recommend for a first pet. They are cute but they are a big responsibility. I got my chins around 2009 when I was in highschool, I’m now 27 with a child. My parents had to take care of them while I was in college. I love them but I wish I would have picked a different pet because while they used to be able to run around all the time, as I got older that got less and less because I’m so busy. Also side note I love the cage set up! I need to get those guards!
If you rescue or rehome them they’re much cheaper upfront, and you could get a second hand or diy cage, my two are rescues that I got for £50, they were 4 when I got them, completely unhandled and whatnot, and now after less than a year they’re friendly cuddly and loving, so rescue chins can be just as lovely as babies :) you can also make diy toys so the only thing you need to buy is hay , food and dust
@@millieandskyeagility6752 I know I will be looking at all my options rescuing is very important I have owned and have rescues but they are expensive in general the cage toys and stuff when I’m more financially stable for more pets
This is such a great video!! Thank you for putti ng the real price and correct cage set up of a chinchilla into perspective. This really helped me because im planning on getting a chinchilla in the near future.
Your cage is so beautiful! I personally prefer wood bedding because I’ve seen impaction happen with other animals but I’m glad your chinchilla is doing well. I just got mine and I’ve been setting up her cage and it’s so much fun!
Where did you get your cage? There isn't a link in the description, or at least there isn't one for me, the only link is Bobbies Chinchillas, I'm looking into getting a different one!!
I think you should get a new vet :/ I know plenty of exotic vets and chinchilla only vets that KNOW that paper bedding causes blockages. Having rough surfaces is GOOD for chin feet because they’re naturally rock climbers and if they don’t have something that mimics that rough surface they can get soft feet and they can be more prone to infections and things like bumble foot. I have wire under 1/2 inch on the bottom of 1/4 levels on my cage, pine shaving bedding, AND wood ledges to insure that their feet stay nice and rough. In their 6 years, they’ve never had any foot problems.
Love the video! I would love to see a updated all my pets video since it looks like quite a few things have changed :)) you deserve so many more subs I will share your account with friends I've been binge watching all month ha! I
How come your chinchilla doesn’t eat all the wood? I always get mine toys but she always eats them and got her a wood stand and she ate it in a few weeks?
I love you cage sm and your chinchilla is adorable i have a male chinchilla his name is pheonix idk how old he is i got him in october 2020 and he has a critter nation model 162
I just got two male chinchillas (babies) two days ago! What are some tips you have on getting them used to you? Mine are SUPER inquisitive, but I want to be sure I am introducing them to interaction with me in the proper manner.
Maybe kind of like play with them a little or whatever, and let them run around and show them that you won’t hurt them or anything and they will probably warm up to you in no time!
chinchillas shouldn´t be housed alone and a cage should be at least 150cm high x 120cm wide x 80cm deep. You shouldn´t use a use a bottle because it is very bad for the neck.
i’m literally looking so hard for a good water bottle i have tried almost every one they all leak and make a big mess , also how do y’all keep your chins from destroying their chinspin and ledges
Meet my little shit Called shit monster Yes It’s Chinese tho The cage is a 3 layer Male Standard grey for colour Diet: Timothy, Alpha, grass sticks, 1 1/2 spoons of pellets, probiotics and more Age: 1 year old Personality: grumpy as f*ck I don’t use bedding Fav food: probiotics and stuff Cage from: Online shop (Tao Bao, from China) Has bitten my text books and the walls, desk and wooden stairs But I still care for him
Chinchilla are not supposed to have paper, or any plastic in the cage, do not just follow this video and do what she is doing, she is literally killing that chinchilla with all that paper bedding in the cage!
