Meet My Mom and see where my Appalachian Roots all Came From! In this first episode of New River you meet my mom and she talks about growing up there. #theappalachianchannel
I'm 67 and my dad raised 4 kids by himself, he would take myself and my younger sister down home to Red Boiling Springs Tenn . I would stay with my granny my sis would stay with Red and Hazles an aunt and uncle. I always wanted to write a book, my life was so full with adventures and work on the farm. I grew up in Detroit the rest of the year , I would not give up the life I was so blessed to have. I feel so sorry for today's youths . I could go on but I love your shows. Keep up the good word. Peace be with you.

I'm watching from southern Missouri. For many years, as a young adult, I rejected rural life, and instead chose city life in southern Calif. But when raising my own children, i chose to return to small-town life in MO. Now I'm retired and living in a log cabin that used to be a church. Two of my kids, now in their 30s, have also chosen to live in cabins, in Montana.
My mom was born in Southern California, but she got tired of big city life and in her 60s, decided to move across the road from her good friend she knew since high school in Raymondville, Missouri. She passed away a few years ago. She was happy there and loved the rural life…
Your mum is gorgeous. I don’t know why I am so drawn to Appalachian videos. I don’t even fully understand the geography but there is something about the scenery and the people. I understand that the people of Appalachia have had hard times but they always appear to be friendly and accommodating.
It really is!...Thank you so much for watching my videos and making a comment, I love to hear what people have to say. What state do you watch my videos from? John
Your mommy she's Lovely ! Southerners call our moms mommy and daddy it's just the way it is ,raised that way ! You are Blessed to have your mommy with you still . Bless 🙏 you all
Your mama is so sweet I sure miss my grandma's farm in Missouri it's still there third generation living in it now... Nothing like the hills I still see grandpas granite coffee pot sitting on the wood stove... Great memories
I was sad almost in tears when you said the house burned down a few years back. Your Mom is a sweetheart! Thanks for all the hard work that goes into these video's, I so much appreciate watching. I"m hooked! From Maine xxx
Wow, @ Mr. Ward, I just run across your videos today, what a pleasure your sweet mom is! She looks so familiar. You do as well. I absolutely love these videos from the Appalachian. My mom was raised in Clinch More. Julia Faye Wilson Phillips and my dad in New River, Rev. B.Ray Phillips. They both talked of Beech Fork many times as us children of six were growing up. It has become some of my favorite memories since their passing's of about three years ago, three months apart. Again, thanks so much.

@@theappalachianchannel You’re welcome. I’m in the State of Maine 🌲 The only social media I have is RU-vid, where I post from time to time. Have a great day and God Bless!
She’s a amazing lady I love listening to her telling about the ole days. As I did my mom’s younger days she’s been in heaven 3 years now. Thank you for sharing another awesome video.
Truly enjoyed hearing your Mama tell her stories of yesteryear. Nothing better than taking in historic testimony. God bless your Mama!! Sad to see that the state or whoever is letting nature take back over that bridge and wooden water tower. We need to preserve history. Blessings from The Lakeside of the Smokies 🕉

@@theappalachianchannel I was just thinking when she was telling some of the stories, she tells it just like it is,"warts and all"!!! Lol she didn't try to sound all innocent, she told they fell off the horse cause they sneaked around doing something they shouldn't. Sounded like the way she told it.
You're just down to earth my kind of people ! When I was growing up our air-conditioning was a big old box fan in the window . Awww but I wouldn't trade my memories of growing up for no amount of money.
You tell your Momma I said hi from Wisconsin ❤️, she is so precious, miss my Momma so much.. cherish her for as long as you can... Hugs from Wisconsin 😊
I am so happy to have found your channel! I have been going back and watching all of your videos. I especially loved this one! I really enjoyed listening to your precious momma. 💗 I’m 59 and a 5th generation Floridian. When my husband retires our plans are to move to eastern Tennessee.

Your mama is so pretty... why GOD??? DO WE HAVE TO AGE? DEAR FATHER IN HEAVEN.... " PLEASE SEND YOUR SON SOON, TO GATHER YOUR CHILDREN UP, IN THE CLOUDS OF GLORY." ❤
When I was growing up I would ask my mom to tell me about when her mom was little and she would tell me stories. I sure wish I had written down the names and places.
Hello from North Carolina. Im enjoying your videos. Thank you for researching these places and people. Very interesting. What is the name of the music you play at the beginning and end of your videos? Y'all take and God bless.
