Meet Prof. Igor Ulitsky, 2020 Blavatnik Awards in Israel, Life Sciences Laureate 

Quantitative biologist, Igor Ulitsky, of the Weizmann Institute of Science was selected as the 2020 Life Sciences Laureate of the Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists in Israel. He was recognized for elucidating the functions of a recently discovered class of RNA molecules-long noncoding RNA-and uncovering the mechanisms of how they evolve and regulate cellular activities. Discovering the biology of long noncoding RNA and how it functions is critical to further our understanding of genetic principles, which has implications for the development of novel disease therapies.
