Seattle artist Cappy Thompson is internationally known for her mythological and poetic narratives painted with transparent glass enamels on blown glass panels and vessels. Her technique is called grisaille and has been used since the Middle Ages. Thompson created Gathering the Light, the 12 x 15-foot triptych mural installed in the Museum's Grand Hall that depicts a story of glass making.
