So the real hero in the story of SpaceX is one good teacher who cared enough about their students to notice when one had the potential to change the world. An all too commonly forgotten key to most amazing things throughout history.

@steveperreira5850
@steveperreira5850 3 года назад
Don’t you think the teacher was just doing what they should be doing. We don’t need to overly glorify teachers, I had many good ones and I had many bad ones, and mostly mediocre ones. I am pleased that this good teacher recognized the potential of the student and provided sage advice, as he should be doing. Enough about teachers, the teacher did not design the rocket engine, the student did. This is a crazy country where the greatest people are always police, fire department, And teachers, and the rest of us are a lower class. It is a logical fallacy to take the good example of one person and apply it to everyone in the same profession. The truth of the matter is this: in every single profession there are a few, and I mean quite a small few Who are truly excellent. Most are somewhat mediocre, not living up to their full potential. And a few are downright incompetent - The latter group generally gravitate into government bureaucracies.
@hellcat1988
@hellcat1988 3 года назад
@@steveperreira5850 You sound personally offended. Might want to see a shrink about those issues. The reason we need to remember to praise these teachers is because without that nudge, many great minds never get very far. Study after study have shown that when you have a potentially brilliant child, with signs that they will quickly develop their intelligence given the right influences, they will falter in their development to about average with their piers without proper stimulation and guidance. Teachers tend to spend more active learning time with children than their families during those important, formative years where their minds could be stimulated, or left to rot. That push from his teacher might have been inconsequential, but it also likely could have been the ONLY reason he got to where he was and did what he did. Hindsight being what it is, we can't know for sure, but we have more than enough examples of the lack of that push leading to mediocrity to know just how important good teachers who focus on students and give them that push are.

What an amazing story. It's serendipitous when the right person can work for the right company at the right time. But somehow it feels like it was meant to be. A well deserved retirement!

Just a really good PID loop taking data from hundreds of sensors. The same techniques are used to keep RC quadcopters in stable flight.

what does cheif engineer mean because anything with cheif in it just means someone who is more of the person who listens to what the people say below them just to decide if it’s right or wrong. anyone with leadership skills and can problem solve can be a chief of any field

That may be (or have been) Elon's job title but he studied physics and economy, never engineering. Elon is famous for learning from his employees by "interrogating" them until he understands things himself.
