Here is a walkthrough from a spot that we worked on a few months ago that points out some safety tips and lighting tricks we used to capture a swimmer.
Ooohj, I just discovered this channel. It is sooo good! Thank you, keep it up! If this video had a DP talking us through his idea, it would be Seventh heaven. But even this is brilliant. Thanks again!
50A at 240V not 100A at 240V. Dual EU7000 giving 11,000W is likely all most LED shoots will need. Theres a few styles of distro box I've seen using that 50A locking California connector. That would also be easy enough to adapt from a NEMA14-50/60 plug like is common with a lot of EV chargers.
I often use a long black plastic snow sled for water reflections, and I wish I would have thought of the mirror trick as it was always a chore to get the reflected angle to work. Like seeing the final results. Very nice.
Most will never understand "All before Lunch" nice job, as I know you 2 were HUSTLING and around water yikes. I am going to go take a nap just thinking about it ;)
Thanks Luke. Is the 7KvA duel link a custom mod, or are they sold that way in the US? We can't do that here in Australia with the Honda generators above 3KvA.
They were ballheads that had 1/4-20 receiving thread that I attached to rig wheels magnets that have 1/4-20 protruding thread. I keep some of those magnets in with the Titan tubes, but they work well with the MC’s as well🙂
I remember my last poolside commercial - our customer was VERY nervous regarding hi voltage near the water - needed to setup "stand guards" on each HMI - how did you handle that?
Thnx for sharing! I got a question about honda eu7000is with Arri m40. On a gig, i can't pass 70% on the m40. When i turn the output on the m40 pass 70% then the generator overload and shutdown. Do you have any idea why that happen? They both are from a rental house and no sign of oil issue or gas. Thnx for the help.
You can run it either way, I was just trying to figure out how you were burning the lamp. 240V would be a more efficient way to run it if the ballast allows you to do so and would allow you to troubleshoot the fact that you’re not getting full out put. However you would need the correct cabling to make that work. I’m assuming you’ve checked in with the the folks you rented from?
Thanks for the video Luke. Love the mirror water gag by your grip. Makes me think of this water explanation from Geoff Boyle: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m4DBH-YiQxY.html
Okay, they originally asked for the Arrimax because its power draw would work off the location mains and the goalpost to get it close to the talent? Due to budget, the M90 was chosen because it is brighter and necessary due to it being set up on the pool's side further away from the talent?
ARRIMAX would have required a full sized genny, more cabling, more budget… never mind the rigging proposal. Often, the gaffer becomes the translator/mediator between DP desires and Producer purse strings. As it was, they got a crazy deep discount to make it work with their numbers… and the DP was happy: which is my main goal🙂
