I worked at the Gap in 1990 and everything they say/do in this skit is SO true! “Cinch it with a belt! Do you need socks today?” This is when SNL was actually funny!

As a former gap employee this is 100% accurate. Folding the shirts correctly was mandatory Staff chastised you in a way where you didn't feel berated. All upper mgmt were white women who were syrupy sweet.

I actually did own both of those exact skirts, embarrassingly enough. Needless to say, I obviously was trying too hard to fit in. I went from a Catholic all girl’s school (uniforms included) to a public high school, and thought hey, whatever’s on the mannequin must be what’s up. College was way better, thank God. No Gaps for miles.

The 2 lines about abortion & Taco Bell would be deemed "controversial and inappropriate" now & would get alot of backlash. Back then they werent scared about edgy comedy & the two characters were just examples of mean high school valley girls of the time and everyone understood that. Where I grew up in Ohio the girls said, “She goes…”, “And I go…”, then my best friend goes…”. When I moved to S. California in the late 80s, I found the girls talked like this in the skit: “She’s all…”, And I’m all…”, then my best friend is all…”. This skit is hilarious!
