Welcome to our seal-ebration! Today we're meeting the harbor seals at Steller Cove. After the video, check out our at-home activities at www.oregonzoo.org/home-zoo
Tongass is one of my favorite seals ever!! I didn't know about the wet and dry fur being different colors... very pinniped-ucational video. :) Thank you for taking such good care of your seals and sharing them with us!
Thank you for a great presentation !!! We usual aren’t able to get up close and personable 😄!!! It was a great adventure !!😄😊👍🏻🥰🥰❤️🙏😊❤️❤️ Bye for now Kathy Washington State
I miss my blubber pups. I work at an aquarium and we have a number of harbor and gray seals, but I'm non-essential education staff, so I haven't seen them in over a month.
I think the zookeeper meant to say Sea Lions can rotate their BACK flippers. Their hip bone (pelvis) can rotate to put their hind flippers under their body so they can sort of gallop on four legs. The seals meanwhile have a fused hip bone that can't rotate like that and always have their back flippers pointing back.
