Yes, it has been around a long time, this lighter version is probably much loved by the carrier as it used to be a pain in the arrse to carry over Dartmoor! Sweden must have made a fortune over the years producing this.

When I serve the army I was GRG shooter. (Grenade launcher Carl Gustaf 84mm) then it was 14,3 plus grenade 3,5 = 17,8 kg fully loaded. Today less than 7 kg plus cartridge weigh 3,1 - 4 kg so around 10 kg fully loaded. Effective firing range : 150 m to 2100 m using rocket-boosted laser guided ammunition. Very fun to shoot. I had 95% accuracy of all my shoots if I may bragg. Also we use 9mm tracer rounds ammo. But at max 100 distant in to paper targets. And also 20 mm trainings rounds in to paper / metal targets, but at max 350 distant. SWEDISH Carl Gustav 84mm first fielded 1948.

Awesome presentation. *I just signed up to the channel as the videos so far seem very well prepared, produced and narrated.* On top of appearing unbiased and not only presenting (and promoting) US weaponry. Kudos! Now, if it's possible to make suggestions here in the comments I'd request a video about the very interesting *Archer Artillery System!?*

i have question why should they use rifled barrel design than smooth bore barrel design that will makes it more reliable and can use APFSDS rounds
@AnimeIsSatan
@AnimeIsSatan 2 года назад
Because discarding sabot isn't suitable to use in rifled handheld launcher because of smaller caliber. rifled launcher provides more ammunition variants. Also, required more energy to go further (due to use of heavy metal such as tungsten to punch through armor). Same concept in shotgun shell But still, we have HEAT and tandem HEAT to replace that.
@drsm7947
@drsm7947 2 года назад
@@AnimeIsSatan how about HEATFSDS and HEFSDS ammo they reach longer range than standard HEAT and HE
@AnimeIsSatan
@AnimeIsSatan 2 года назад
@@drsm7947 again, they required larger energy, thus, required larger caliber and longer barrel for that to work and effective. Otherwise, the range is way shorter than the intended. There's a reason why it's called "recoilless rifle", not "shoulder cannon". Also, stabilized fin isn't required for rifled barrel to stable the projectile trajectory, so it's another plus.

It has no guidance. So you cannot shoot very far without missing.
@BilldalSWE
@BilldalSWE Год назад
It's not meant to shoot very far. There are other systems like the NLAW (also developed by SAAB Bofors) and Javelin for that but those are much heavier and are single use. A Javelin system weight in at 22.3 kg (49 lb) vs the Carl Gustav M4 which is 6,6kg and reusable so it can be carried anywhere. The NLAW and Javelin are anti tank only whereas the Carl Gustav is anti tank, anti building, anti bunker and anti personel since it can use different kinds of ammunition. That's why the US and other armies are using both. They're completely different weapons.
