+CaptAnderton Paul is just fucking funny.....but you killed it at NAMM when detuning that guitar while he was giving a lecture about the quality of PRS guitars and them always staying in tune. :-D
I've actually met and played with Paul, my guitar class went on a tour of his factory in Maryland, and while everyone was loading onto the bus Paul sat down and started playing with me and we jammed for like 5 min it was so cool
I like how genuinely happy he is about his guitar sounding great. Many people in the business lack this kind of enthusiasm when playing their own gear.
I love Paul. He’s a genuine person. He’s straight forward and always speaks his mind. I see a lot of people complaining that he keeps plucking away at the guitar he’s holding while Lee is talking. He isn’t being rude, it’s just the person he is. I do it, too. He’s still able to give Lee his attention, talk, and answer his questions. If you’re as passionate of a guitarist and luthier as he is, it’s incredibly difficult to just hold a guitar and not play it, even subconsciously. PRS is excellent, Paul is great, Lee is incredible. Rock n’ roll, Anderton’s!
I've got to hand it to Mr Smith. I've had an ongoing issue with my 2015 PRS SE Tremonti. Already shipped it back for a problem with the nut slots and it didn't completely get fixed. I eventually got to talk to his private secretary about it. She talked to him and he gave me a free shipping label to ship it back again because this time PRS himself is going to fix it. Pretty awesome.
No disrespect to Mr. Smith, but it not get fixed properly. It would not stay in tune for 5 minutes because of the tight slots in the nut. But the man made it right. He bought it back from me through Guitar Center in Huntsville Al. It was past the 45 day refund period also. I got $800 spending credit through GC because of Paul's honesty. He's a good man. I just feel that they need to change the way they make the nut on the Korean models. I'm still a huge fan of the main core models though.
@@mikel917 Nice. I have been obsessed with PRS lately and love the idea of an heirloom guitar and going back to the shop for improvements etc through it's lifetime. Meh times now but the SE HbII Piezo is my carrot.
I just can't recommend the Korean PRS guitars or the S2. I've owned the SE Tremonti, an S2, and a 2000 PRS CE 22 The CE22 was amazing. The others were disappointing.
Paul embodies the typical Maryland resident. Constant tangents and sarcasm the entire way down. On the John Mayer note, the fact that he doesn't want/can't say anything is the first indication that there will be a John Mayer signature model (imo). If there wasn't going to be one, I'm pretty sure he would flat out say no they are not going to make a signature model, because there would be no reason to protect or be ethically or even legally compliant like he is currently. #savingmy$forthatJM
He's a type A personality for sure, but he means well. You probably know just like me that he's like that in plenty of interviews. His guitars are awesome though, and I'm more of a Strat guy. Anything Strat-like I'll play.
I really like these "Captain Meets..." videos. Every one of them has been informative and really well done. Good job to all the folks at Andertons who made this happen, and of course to Mr. PRS and the Captain. Please keep this series? going... its a great tweener mix of relevant 1st hand information, insider observation, and bullshit.
I just bought my first PRS (SE) a few days ago and this is so incredibly true.. even if its not one of those fancy american ones. What a lovely instrument
@@13superdude2 Yeah same! I have the standard 24 SE and recently got the pickups swapped (although they originals were really good!) And man, does it sound and feel amazing
I just bought my new PRS custom CE 24 limited edition it's a Dark Green Burst and a new Orange Crush Super 100 Combo guitar Amp I can't wait to get it next week thank you Mr Paul Reed Smith for making my dream guitar you Rock.
Enjoyed the ending very much. Tasteful stuff. I am lucky enough to have the G's and the F's but when I got my PRS after forty years of playing everything changed! Paul makes playable art with magic in every one. Truly a group of craftsmen along the Bay! Thank you!
It's been interesting to see how PRS and Paul has really started to embrace video, especially in the last few years. I have never met Paul in person but after watching hours and hours of video with him, it's neat to see how what I think is his personality come through... he's smart, well educated, opinionated and friendly. In the end, he's like his guitars... what you see if what you get every time.
Just bought an SE McCarty 594 (2023 - from the future of this video) in US and I'm going back to see these interviews. Love Paul and him on Anderton's.
Awesome video. You and Paul both seem like two genuinely good people. Had the pleasure of seeing Paul play at Gearfest here in America. Hoping to own my own PRS soon.
Its depressing how many people don't understand that these two are genuinely friends at this point. Lee loves it when Paul comes around. The two are really just chatting about guitars and they decided to make a video for fun.
+Cameron Forster Well, someone who would really 'hate' a guitar must be pretty stupid ; ) But I never liked what I heard from PRS guitars, always bland and dull sounding to me.
I've been watching Andertons videos for years and always enjoy the content, but this time I felt compelled to say, this is one of the most entertaining, informative and honest videos I've had the pleasure of watching! These videos-- and Robs videos too-- make the universe a better place, no doubt!
Paul's texan was hilarious.... I rarely watch videos on RU-vid... I am way too busy making them, but this one I watched all the way through... well, while I edited one.... but still.... totally fun...
+Robert Lohmer Thanks Robert.... you have to learn from the guys at the top... and the Captain and Rob are most certainly at the top of their game. Not checking in once in a while would be stupid !
God I love PRS guitars so much... best feel, sound, look, intonation everything about them is so brilliant! I can only dream to get an endorsement right now
Paul's such a great guy. I could talk to this guy for a month without being bored. Great guitarist also! Side note, anyone else notice his voice sounds a little bit like Lars Ulrich?
I was at a seminar at Brian’s Guitars in Cheshire, CT(USA) met PRS, watched Him and listened to Him closely. Very cool, down to earth fellow. I’ve had my share of guitars. They’re not my favorite to play. The two PRS guitars I’ve had(still have my hollowbody ii) are voiced like nothing I’ve ever heard. Intonation? It’s incredible. His brain is that of an inventor, an engineer, an artist. It’s always going. Things pop in to His head. I don’t think He means to be rude, it’s just Him. Very cool video. If I ever get time, I’ll upload the video I took from the seminar.
I think they get on really well, plenty of banter between guys in the trade who know each other. On the other hand, put a guitar in a guitarist hand - he's going to noodle....
been playing for 40 odd years mainly strats i decided a change was in order so just got a PRS single cut from Andertons, all i can say is thank you to paul and the captain, great guitar, great service. don't know about 3rd , I think F&G have been relying on there rep for too long PRS seem to go from strength to strength, long may it continue.
+Thom Carter That or they've never seen him in an interview before. Mr. Smith is a living legend who just so happens to have a personality. It's a shame a lot of folks around here don't get it.
+Thom Carter Yes ! I was quite surprised of how people judged him for his sense of humor. The video was great, entertaining, instructive, and the jams tasty ! What's not to like :)
I just got a PRS Custom 24 as a gift. I've always been a Fender/Gibson guy, and I never payed much attention to PRS. I was pleasantly surprised by the PRS. It's a nice guitar. The tone is unique. It sounds like a Les Paul with a sinus infection.
PRS deserve to be number ONE- just because they weren't around in the 60's they don't have the kudos - but they certainly are the best US made guitar available today.
He is a charismatic person. I like him for who he is. To be that competitive and successful in such monopolized market he has to be TOUGH. I love this guy and his guitars. Live long PRS! 😊
+Chłan Grabarz Nah, I think it adds to the show. A lot of people can multitask by listening to others and play - so why not do it? Two music loving people in a room, a music loving audience - if there is a time, place and occasion to play and talk at the same time, it would be in these kind of videos. :)
+Ove Ohlen It would. When it works both ways. But he stops Lee playing with his 'hand on the guitar' gesture when he (Mr. high and mighty PRS) is about to say something. Rude.
+Chłan Grabarz I'm at the 4:54 mark and I totally don't get it. Is he really upset at the wife beater t shirt joke? I've always thought he was a little uptight or something. Watching the PRS factory tour I got the impression that working for him would not be pleasant.
Couple things for the Anderton's crew - First off - love the new studio for your videos - much more professional looking set up - visually appealing in a way that the old 'living room' sort of set up didn't have. Second off - you guys have a fantastic vibe among all the various characters that show up in your videos - I especially like the videos you make along with Chappers but also with Peter Honore - great stuff - love, love, love it. Finally - I am completely obsessed with Paul Reed Smith (as a speaker, engineer, leader etc.) and with his guitars. I am desperately trying to figure out how I'm going to cobble together enough cash to be able to afford a US made Custom 24 - hopefully in one of the bad@$$ green colors they produce - and hopefully with some of the cool effects (wrap, smoke burst, dragons breath, tiger eye etc.). So - the comparisons you make highlighting the various PRS guitar lines (Custom, S2, CE, SE etc.), the comparisons you make within their lines and between their competitors and the interviews you do with the man himself - all are scratching an intermediate itch until I can actually get my hands on one. Thank you, thank you, thank you - don't change a thing - and please keep your sahwheet! videos coming for a long time to come! Best regards, Skids
Paul is the kind of guy i'd like to grab a beer with. I don't drink alcohol but that day, i would. Great guitar player, genuine guy, great sense of humor, great salesman. I bought an SE probably 6 years ago now and since then i've tried many other guitars, some of them way more expensive than the SE, and i just keep coming back to my trusty SE. I'm still dreaming about a real USA one... Maybe one day :p
+TastyChevelle I think he felt uncomfortable as well when the old man kept repeating how wonderful his guitars are. Not a big deal to have sustain around the 8th neck...
