I wish the same level of concern was demonstrated to help end childhood poverty, child care, healthcare and preschool in our Country. The wrapping of politics and religion is a dangerous mix.

Just like in the case of drug laws and gun laws, making something illegal doesn’t mean it goes away. If you don’t want abortions happening, you have to take preventative measures; comprehensive sex Ed, availability of healthcare and contraceptives, etc..

Imagine if people actually put this much effort into ending child homelessness, hunger, orphanages, etc. Hard to imagine a Virgin man with no kids or experience with women going this hard to make their lives harder.

It's insane that this isn't satire. "hey I'm a virgin from texas with no sex experience, no baby experience, no women experience, no abortion experience, no legal experience, no constitutional experience, and I'm gonna write this anti abortion ordinance on the table of a chik fil a with nothing but the grease from this sandwich" Like the fact that that is pretty much a 100% factual statement is nothing short of masterful comedy.

It confuses me how these people think babies only matter when they're in a woman's body but not once they're born. True pro life would be the support once the baby is born. Our foster care system and number of children waiting to be adopted is beyond flooded, financial benefits to help single parents is continuously being cut and is nowhere near enough as is let alone how difficult it is to even get the services. These are usually the same people looking down on single moms and looking down on people in need of financial assistance. As if my mom didn't have it hard enough raising my sister and I alone, she faced a lot of discrimination and judgment on top of the a million hoops to jump through just to get the necessary help and services needed.

I would have a lot more respect for the “right to life” movement if they focused their efforts on comprehensive sex ed and getting kids in foster care adopted- or at least providing aid for poor mothers. When they focus solely on inching back abortion rights, it feels a lot less like caring about kids and a lot more like controlling women’s bodies and behavior.

“This is not about politics it’s about abortion” ah yes, because deciding what becomes law and what doesn’t isn’t at the core of politics or anything..

My great aunt got pregnant from small town ministers son. She was 15, it was a scandal. She had a black market abortion and it ruined her. When she got married in her early 20s she wanted to have a baby, but couldn't. We need to let women decide when it's right for them to have a family. Making safe abortion illegal will send women to back alleys to get abortion, leading to possible sterility.

to the women who live in such states: There are groups in other states who can help you. a bus ticket is cheaper than raising a kid and hospital bills.

How about protecting the born? Providing birth control, teaching safe sex, childcare, care for the mother, good schools, equal access to healthcare and more. Also, stating the obvious, nobody who is against abortion has to have one !!!

Banning abortions in towns that don’t even have an abortion clinic is about the most pointless endeavor I’ve ever heard about. They could be putting their efforts into something more fruitful.

I find it odd that people can think they're doing god's work by restricting access to women's healthcare with "pro-forced pregnancy" legislation and not be putting in at least equal effort in trying to solve issues of access to healthcare, the homeless crisis, food insecurity, the minimum wage, or at least trying to reduce abortions by providing proper sex education or access to preventative measures, or family planning. These laws punish a symptom of a system and aren't designed to fix the issues that lead to that symptom in the first place.

From a perspective of a European, I don’t understand the United States. People are really concerned about Abortion yet nobody seems to care about things like School shootings, drug epidemic or Inflation. The priority’s just seem so wrong to me and I am wondering if this is the general consensus or just some stupid village people?

Abortion will never stop legal or illegal.

Banning abortion does not help the parent or child. The individual does not want the child for a reason. It will just push abortion underground to unsafe methods. A more productive approach is to decrease the cost of having a child: healthcare, higher education, and PTO for pregnant workers.

It just fascinates me how hard (some) 'people' go to try to influence and control the next person's life, and how little they invest in themselves to get their own lives in order.

Where do these people stand on ensuring every American has access to affordable universal healthcare and childcare? Why don’t we put those on the ballot?

I am so sick of these type of people. They claim to care about saving the babies but are not worried about the children that are already here! The foster care systems needs to be fixed! We have so many Social issues that need to be addressed then this A living Wage, Housing, Healthcare, Daycare cost, Education etc. Also A WOMEN'S choice whether to have an abortion is between HER, HER DOCTOR, HER HUSBAND/ OR PARTNER and HER GOD! Why are these men, so obsessed with what a women does with her body? After they save the babies then what? What's the plan to make sure that Women and child get everything they need to live a healthy, safe, happy, successful life?

Abortion is never the real problem. All that energy spent on either protecting or eliminating abortion would be better used on tackling the real issue of unwanted pregnancies. If everyone who wants to be pregnant would be the only pregnant ones, we wouldn't have this ridiculous division on abortion.

Many years ago, in Mexico, abortion was prohibited at all levels. For many years, medics had to deal with knowing that some mother's lifes were going to be at danger since their unborn children were unviable, severly malformed or otherwise dangerous for the mother. Many times, as there was simply no other option, the pregnancy continued and in many cases the worse prognosis came to happen. The woman would die, having a child medics knew months in advance had absolutely no chance of living. Since this happened more often than one would like to think, especially in rural areas exposed to aggressive chemicals used for the crops (insecticides, pesticides, etc); more and more people started seeking out clandestine abortiom clinics to terminate their pregnancies, often resulting in death or infertility due to the poor conditions. In another huge sector of the population, women did not want to have their children either because of their age, because of who the father was, or because it was the result of non-concensual intercourse. This put a lot more pressure on the whole situation. After a while, few highly populous states begun stablishing programs that allowed and regulated abortions for medical reasons (the first scenario I described) and highly reduced mortality in women, also preventing further risks in the case of the absolutely unviable fetuses, terminating pregnancies before any potential damage could take place. Later, Mexico City extended the allowances for abortions, reducing further mortality and increasing women's quality of life. Many women from other states began seeking abortions in the capital, since they were going to do it either way, except they preferred sanitary conditions over illegal shafts. We should be thinking about quality of life, rather than just because of the sake of it. People who do not want children are most likely going to neglect or even abuse their children, creating further social problems and suffering in society. Should this choice be permitted, in time frameworks that are safe for women, many more problems would be solved. And if you believe in God, then there is still room for a person destined to be born, to do so. You just prevent sending many others earlier to the heavens, than we could otherwise prevent. If you don't want to abort, then don't. But allow for others to excert the will over their future.

If they fight against abortions so much, let them take the children from the orphanages,it woul be a real act of christianity.

honestly, calling this man a joke is undermining the VERY real concern to medical freedom. If any of us are going to stand up and actually do anything about this we can't just make videos and we can't just comment about how dumb he is, we have take an actual stand against these very real threats. The real debate pro life people should be having is to get affordable health care, free education, raising minimum wage etc. If they do not want to talk about giving dignity to lives after they're born then it's not like they cared about the life at all.

There’s so much more that could be addressed and should be addressed in this scenario. Maybe look into why abortion rates are what they are and then create services and access to those services. Let’s update sex Ed. Let’s give free access to pregnancy prevention, provide more education, etc. The other issue? Where the hell is the separation between church and state? These peoples sole concern is religion based. They aren’t pro life they’re just anti abortion, because after kids are born who’s going to assist the single parent? Who’s going to assist the child welfare System that is so incredibly over whelmed already when the child is placed for adoption? What about the care of the mother? In Poland, a few months ago, a woman died because of a super restrictive anti-abortion law. She had to abort because sepsis but the doctor could not remove the fetus until it stopped heart-beating which cause the woman to die of septic shock. None of the survived. The law, not only did not protect the fetus, it killed the woman. I guess this is one of the contradictions of being pro-life. By the way, the number of polish woman aborting in the Czech Republic increase considerably since they pass this restrictive anti-abortion law.

There are laws against a lot of things and people gets sent to jail everyday. Isn't a deterrent and doesn't solve the problem. People decide on abortion because of a lot of different reasons. It isn't a simple matter and some things in the society have to change so to lower the number of abortions, making them illegal or more difficult to have them won't stop people getting them.

They think they "caught the city lawyer with his pants down" but he knows these clowns probably haven't followed the proper process as layed out by the city charter so he just refuses to answer the question of whether they have everything the need. Spoiler alert, they don't.

It’s so easy to “defend” something that can’t speak for itself, that doesn’t demand healthcare, food, or housing - like fetuses. What’s interesting is that if you ask some men if they’d vote to ban abortion for affairs outside marriage (in other words, “If you got another woman pregnant outside your partnership, you’d still want the baby?”) they get stumped or skirt the question. Same with, “What if your teen daughter were raped?” “Pro-life” until it affects THEM.

I don't get why anti-choice advocates focus exclusively on outlawing abortion, rather than avocating for paid matternity leave, or afordable childcare. If they value life so much then why not suport universal healthcare?

For most christians, and i mean true believers, one of, if not the, most valuable gifts given from god is free will. The ability to see what is in front of you and make your own choices. What value would it be to God if belief and/or adherence to biblical principles was forced? It seems to me that these people, and many others pushing other agendas, are more interested in being zealots and trying their best to restrict the free will and choices of others than with upholding the actual values of christianity. I think most people can agree that the main message of God is to love each other. There is no love in driving women into highly risky shadetree abortions. There is no love in forcing a child to be raised by a parent that does not want them, or to be raised in the foster system. Education, empathy, reasonable healthcare costs, women's rights and the freedom to decide what is best for yourself are what really should be the goals of modern day religious folk. Not these constant childish fights against other people's life choices that make them a little uncomfortable.
