Stop with the lies there is NO climate change. Anyone with half a brain can google images of any city a hundred years ago and now comparing and seeing NO rise at all in sea levels. You guys just want to take away our human rights to force us to limit our water use, banning humans in forests, and forcing us to eat corporation soylent green ie plant based meats. The green movement is hijacked and have these large youtube influencers to push propaganda lies.

A friend of mine told me this story a while ago. Apparently there was this mine that had been flooded. The area around it created a contaminated lake. Over the years the lake started to become cleaner, no one could figure out why. They finally figured out that it was the goose poop, As birds were going over the water and pooping in it, there were microbes in thier poop that thrived in the water and literally ate the contamination. Weird eh?

The microbiome is one of the most important things to helping the environment, and people often don't recognize its significance. If you'll recall the BP oil spill... well, the main way that was cleaned up was not by siphons or solvents, but by dumping tons and tons of nitrate fertilizer into the waters. This helped blossom up the microbes, which would eat and process the crude oil.

@mixeddrinks8100 6 месяцев назад
you would think it would be cheaper to put a whole net over the area?
@ethanfay6091
@ethanfay6091 6 месяцев назад
They can’t fill it in because it’s flowing ground water. Plugging it would cause a pressure imbalance which could theoretically cause a sinkhole and make shit a lot worse. Not to mention the millions it would cost to drain it and it’s not like you can just dump it because it’s toxic water so you’d have to safely get rid of millions of gallons of water… That is expensive and not easy. I know retards like yourself like to get angry at things you can’t comprehend but it’s not healthy.

@@mixeddrinks8100 A net over a mile wide lake? Yeah....no. And all that would happen is birds would start nesting on the net, which wouldn't exactly solve the problem, and eventually the net would degrade, then you'd have even more pollution from the giant net needing replaced. You'd also need to have pillars installed all over the lake to support the net over the water, with enough room to get out there under it to do maintenance. And we're talking a mile wide. We're talking about a whole skyscraper worth of materials and construction needed. Those bullets might cost a couple of dollars a pop. Maybe they fire it 5000 times a year....over 20 years, that's still vasty cheaper than a net or anything else.

There's a couple things you don't know. First - jobs in Butts are almost impossible to find. Most ppl I know that live there have remote jobs. Second - Berkeley Pit for better and for worse has been used in areas of studies for years - thankfully it's very rare to find a lake this messed up. Thirdly - this is groundwater that's been contaminated. It would be almost impossible to drain with how much water passes through there and if it was just filled, the groundwater would disperse. That is a very good question and there are some resources out there if you are interested in further research!

They also volunteer their time and labor to maintain local state parks and lakes keeping them beautiful and clean for wildlife and future generations. Far and away more than any other demographic. The fact that we have an intact suite of megafauna can almost solely be attributed to recreational hunters. For the most part outdoorsman understand, and care far more about deer, birds, and fish than city dwelling hippies who don't interact with or see wildlife other than to drive through Estes Park to see elk from their car. So yeah, it isn't good for animals to hang out in it for hours but it isn't quite as dangerous as I was expecting. At that low concentration, several plastics and rubbers are compatible with sulfuric acid, so the idea could work.

"Has anyone pointed out the irony that you protect birds and then go hunting". As an avid outdoors man there is no irony here. Wildlife conservation and protection is spearheaded by those who use the resource the most. I love fishing and do everything in my power to protect our lakes. Without a healthy fish population I would lose sustenance, a passion and most importantly a beautiful array of water creatures beyond those predatory fish we catch. Same can be said about land animals and birds! Wild Turkey re-population in Ontario was spearheaded by hunters. That has been a huge conservation effort success.

legit feel the same as an avid fisherman, nothing pisses me off more then people tainting the nearby lakes and rivers by killing every non "food" fish they catch and not removing their old fishing lines and plastic garbage from the surrounding area, too many a time have i had to remove shitloads of braided fishing lines left behind by careless "fishers" that would otherwise surely have caused devastation and/ or death to the wildlife in the area. This all seems ironic since i like fishing myself and in doing so hurt the fish caugt on my line but atleast i do my part in trying to keep the fish and nearby seafowl population somewhat healthy for future generations. As you stated, hunters, fishermen and outdoorsmen are usually the people who are the most educated in and try their best to keep the ecosystem at a healthy rate so that other generations can experience and be part of it in the future, as ironic as it may seem to some.

hearing about miners choking up talking about seeing thousands of dead birds in the pit is a good reminder that on an individual level none of us _want_ to create pollution; it's a problem that we create as an aftereffect, because it's easier or cheaper to do things the wrong way... or that sometimes there is no 'right' way, or sometimes even because something no one expected happened. It's a problem that we all create together, through our demands for goods, and it is something we all need to find solutions for together.

True, but human beings (as individuals) create only a fraction of pollution/waste. It is large corporations that create the vast majority of waste and pollution

You know what's the best solution to solve every environmental crisis happening but no one is talking about? Stop breeding. Seriously, wheb there are less people, there's a lower overall carbon footprint and thus no necessity to provide them with their human needs which in turns, damage the environment (yes, Thanos was right)

I love the story and the passion, but I can't help but think that a bunch of fans with soft fins in the water would do a better job. Can't go on the lake if you keep getting whacked by something. Likely be way cheaper too. Also, I wonder if there's some form of algae that would thrive on what's in the water and produce oxygen.

Damn! They found the perfect guy for this job! He's a hunter that also understands and appreciates the protection and management of wildlife! Like most hunters he understands the balance that must exist in taking game and that these resources need to be managed. Well done!

@@vincentpol its much more ethical to kill and eat an animal that has lived free its entire life in its natural environment than eat meat from a McDonald's that has lived in a barn its whole life being pumped full of steroids. Besides hunting is an important aspect of conservation, sometimes invasive special need to be culled to ensure biodiversity and the security of endangered species.

@@TolerablyInterested I agree. In a world with maybe 1 billion people. But as our population grows hunting is becoming less ethical because the populations of said hunted animals has dwindled dramatically.

@@vincentpol Hunter's care more about wildlife habitat and conservation than almost anybody in this country. Most hunter's want to see healthy habitat and healthy animals to support their sport. A portion of all ammunition sales goes to support conservation and makes up a large part of that budget. Hunter's are the ones who sound the alarm when animal populations are declining. Hunters in the 1970s were the first to recognize that they needed to change what kinds of deer they shot and began shooting either bucks or does depending on the local need to control the population. Hunting is essential to manage herds and certain species so that biodiversity is maintained. Hunters support wildlife study and the outdoors. The people most passionate about preserving the wildlife in this country want to do it so they can kill it later. Wildlife is a resource and we need to be stewards of it. People who don't support hunting have never been to the woods or know what animals are like. A guy can nurse a baby squirrel back to health and also go shoot them. Educate yourself. You'll find that the people most knowledgeable support responsible hunting. Poaching and hunting endangered species are deplorable to a good hunter.

@@keithrichardscorpse1230 Hunters are not poachers or "murderers". There is an important difference between a hunter and a poacher. All hunters (not poachers) have a deep respect for the wildlife that they claim and they pay it back in the form of conservation. Each & every responsible hunter pays into conservation each & every year in the form of conservation stamps and the liscense (or "tag") fee$. That money then goes into monitoring & conserving wildlife on the entire continent and not just from hunting but also from natural disasters. Read on, i got more... * This then gives jobs to those working in conservation and hunters are the only reason they get paid for having those jobs. * The hunt itself (claim not "murder") also benefits the genetics, disease, and balances life as it should be. * Tags are only issued at a rate that balances the population, not just kills it into some kind of fantasy extinction.
