Amazing video. Flaco’s situation was a tragedy and 100% preventable if, as you say, the Central Park Zoo didn’t throw in the towel. Allowing the ignorant and uneducated public to control their decisions on escaped animal recovery is insane. And the worst part? They will never be held accountable. Not by the AZA, which supposedly prides itself on having the highest level of safety and standards for animals, and not by the public.
society now is incredibly short sighted and ignorant with truly little inkling of the long term consequences of spontaneous actions. The lack of critical thinking and emotional overeagerness is a distressing sign of the times. Individually people can be reasoned with but enmasse mob mentality takes over. Cause and effect needs to be taught again, consequences need to become a thing again and accountability needs to be put in place across the board over all aspects of life. I truly fear for where society is headed.
In your opinion, do you feel there is some sort of agenda or narrative against exotic pets. Because it certainly looks that way. Who would be the big players in this ploy, if you had to guess?
Absolutely! That's what this channel is for. There are several, the biggest being HSUS, PETA, even the AZA, but sadly, it doesn't stop there. Just general public sentiment is against us, and legislators looking to enhance their careers extinguishing the "threat" of exotic pets. Wildlife organizations and DNRs tend to be against it too. In simple terms, just about everyone 🥴
