I called my Golden lab / St.Bernard dog who passed away year ago Henry . My first Golden Retriever was called Ben. I have had many dogs since but sadly they have died now. I love all animals like Dr.Scott but I have MS and I cannot walk without a wheelchair anymore.

I was diagnosed with autism & ADHD at 30/31 years, that was a few years ago and I can't tell you what it means to me to see representation like this. Also assistance dogs are so important for neurodivergent people, I sadly can't afford one and my dog is a little too old for training but I see what having him around does for me. I know many autistics like me who (like Dr Scott explains) felt like an alien growing up and not quite understanding what's going on around them you know. We grow up being told we don't fit in and are basically taught we have to adapt and we try. We try so hard but all we can do is imitate, it's called masking. But oh how we try, and after often decades of masking follows what the autistic community calls an autistic burnout. And yet often we keep hearing we just have to try harder. Animals aren't like that, they don't judge, they love you unconditionally, they help you like Dr. Scott says to focus on something other than yourself and help with sensory difficulties. I'm sorry for the long comment but I'm grateful that you posted this💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚

Aww! My family puppy walked four puppies for guide dogs for the blind. It's so rewarding but it's HARD. We got them at 6-8 weeks old and gave them back when they were about a year old. We knew it wasn't our dog, but it's hard not to get attached. Plus we gave them back when they had matured a bit and were a pleasure to have and well past the peeing everywhere, chewing everything stage

@emma apologies I have never seen him before and just noted the accent was Australian. I wrote a quick comment in a hurry. He seems a lovely man and all respect to him and his family. There was no rude intention . Thank you for your rude comment.

@LS-eo5hg thanking me for my rude comment! 😤 i wasn't being rude, im tryiny to be polite to you, you was the one making a rude comment, when you refer to others as "that person" its like pointing the finger at them and that is plain rude
@LS-eo5hg
@LS-eo5hg 3 месяца назад
@emma some people would say telling off a person for trying to describe the person on screen who they hadn’t seen before by being specific about them to differentiate them from the other is rude. We wil agree that typed messages can be misconstrued as there is no tone or expression behind them. It was intentionally put in the comment that the dog could be called Aussie (nickname for Australians) as he was Australian and the fact it is being trained for people with Autism (also starting with the letters Au) is another reason why I wrote it that way so people could see the link . Anyway I believe the dog has been named Buddy now. Have a nice day

Thats interesting because we were told by a paediatrician that we shouldn't use a weighted blanket ??
@LS-eo5hg
@LS-eo5hg 3 месяца назад
I had one but actually got rid of it as my child nearly suffocated under it .. he likes to roll in a blanket from side to side but this one wrapped round him and he couldn’t get out. He is non verbal so couldn’t say anythin to us we just heard him shout out and cry so when we took it off he was sweating and gasping for breath. We were in the same room just thought he was goin his usual thing .cant recommend

So glad we don’t keep them out of our sight cuz he’s just too vulnerable. Remember bein at beach and putting his shoes on to go, put another on of the kids shoes on and when I looked up he was gone. Knew he loved water so looked that way first, there he was, shoes on, knee deep. They r like babies always.
