I came across one of these in my Iowa earlier. The HE damage it did was impressive and it's armour seemed pretty good too. 👍

Odin is based off on a preliminary design of a fast battleship that originated in Germany around 1932-1934 (a German naval conference took place in 1933 specifically) and comprises elements as well as exceeding the capabilities of the Deutschland-class heavy cruisers (Admiral Graf Spee is one of them featured in WOWS: Legends at Tier V). At the time, the Oberkommando der Marine (OKM), the German Naval High Command, had been studying the Marine Nationale’s (French Navy) surface ships, which the Germans discussed the threat posed by France's new battleship, the Dunkerque-class battleships, which were entirely superior to the German Deutschland class and forced the Germans to cancel the remaining Deutschland-class ships. Germany needed to find an answer to the Dunkerque which meant they researched a ship armor thick enough to protect against the 330mm shells of the Dunkerque. In response to one such advancement, their engineers had been tasked with developing ships capable of opposing the French Dunkerque-class battleships. The German shipbuilders had to navigate the restrictions imposed by international naval treaties, as well as the technical and operational requirements of the Kriegsmarine, who wanted a fast ship with large guns that would be near invulnerable to enemy fire. There were three basic projects that were considered: 18,000 tons, 22,000 tons (both with 283 mm guns) and 26,000 tons with 330 mm guns, which cost 120, 150 and 180 million marks, respectively. The most radical admirals, such as the chief of the Gross naval artillery, vehemently spoke out in favor of the 26,000-ton project with 330-mm guns, emphasizing that parity with France was most important. However, this project presented new problems. Such a ship could only be built on slipway No. 2 in Wilhelmshaven, and docked only in Bremenhaven and Hamburg. That is, during the construction of several of these ships, the Government would also have to fork out cash for new docks. In the end, Raeder ordered a more detailed study of the project of 26,500 tons with the following options for the location of 330-mm guns: 4x2, 2x4 and 3x3. In extreme cases, it was allowed to use a 305 mm caliber. The work should have been completed by the end of 1934, and then it was planned to lay the lead ship, but the lack of resources, manpower, and the early outbreak of World War II in 1939, put paid to those thoughts. However, their work resulted in a range of theoretical projects that would ultimately lead to the construction of the Scharnhorst-class battleships. Among those projects was a development based on a slightly larger Deutschland-class ship with reinforced armor and 305 mm main battery guns installed in three triple turrets. Interestingly, one such gun (For the Germans, it was the new SK C/39 305 mm/56 guns) was historically designed, and even produced in 1939 as a prototype.

I played one or two AI battles in my Odin, I like it. I like the Scharnhorst, and this feels like a heavy Scharnhorst, so I like it. Im gonna bump the German BB line up on my priority list, they seem pretty fun so far.

I'm a year late, but I want to add, with the Ciliax/Haruna build this thing is nasty and plays a lot better as a brawler in my experience. It's strong secondaries and torpedo suite make it fearsome to face within 7km

Whilst playing against these earlier I found that it’s turrets are actually quite easy to knock out. In one case I knocked out two of the turrets. Has anyone else noticed this?

I have a torpedo build for: Scharnhorst, Gneisenau, both Hipper class cruisers, Tirpitz, and Odin This goes for the battleships: aiming systems mod 1, your choice but I would recommend steering gears mod 2, TAS, and torpedo launchers mod 3 Hipper cruisers: aiming systems mod 1, any choice but preferably steering gears, concealment systems or TAS, torpedo launchers mod 3 Commander: Von Spee, skills: surface venture, forget the second one, back in stock, and I forgot the 4th one. Legendary: unstoppable. Inspirations: Tanaka and Bey

I like your channel. One thing I find frustrating is that you don't keep the firing view on as your rounds go down range. I want to see the accuracy and dispersion. I suspect others would like you to show that too.

Saw 2 of these so far today. Crazy how people spend $80 on a ship that if they’d just wait, would only cost them $7

In my opinion Odin looks cool and the idea sounds cool but it isn't very effective considering it's just a bigger Scharnhorst that isn't played out to well. it's just up tiered Scharnhorst

Do you prefer Odin or Tirpitz? I know both of them have their advantage

Looks like a nice ship. German battleships on the top tiers might not do the most direct damage but got a lot of utility and I can't wait to get her and sweep the seas empty of destroyers and cruisers that dare to get to close. After all that is what they are made for.

Would almost be curious to see an Alaska V. Odin vid since they're both 305mm ships... ones a cruiser, ones a BB, could be interesting...

German battleships are made only for an additional shredder, they will get hit hard if they want to release the torpedoes from the touchdown. In my case it always works how many times my addition on the battleship pumped out such a shredder and more

While i am disappointed that Odin did'nt get 7.7km base range on its secondaries like it did on PC, I'm glad that they at least gave it more max HP to compensate. Can't wait until the end of August to get mine!

Feel like I should be more excited for this ship, but everyone is saying it's a Scharnhorst with bigger guns... but not so big they're very affective. Looks like another cruiser hunter, and since it's not accurate at range you better have some fire prevention on hand and a division at your back while you run the gauntlet to get to that 10km German sweet spot.

What did the developers expect to happen when they put in ship horns? They take out neptunes beard and replace it with a horn for people to spam instead..

The ship isn’t that bad of a ship and once you get the hang of it is a good ship in the right hands

Odin is a magnificent ship and I will go to try to get it, but I do agree with you Bismarck you do use a lot of health but I'm just waiting for them to fix the guns and armor because I do not like seeing a cruiser get away within 5 km and not getting citadel

Run it with Eric Bay as captain with Hyde and Hipper. I run all my Geraman Battleships that way....Huge HP advantage!! 72k HP on the Odin. 82k HP on the Bismarck.

When I play in my odin I always hunt cruisers bc thats what scharnhorst is Designed for and its a glorified scharnhorst but I made the mistake of hunting the enemy cruiser without looking at the enemy team roster and came put broadside on to an Alaska

Attention: if this ship has the same gun characteristics as it does on pc, do NOT use the HE as an AP overpen will still do more damage than a full HE pen.

I'm gonna say It's a *super scharnhorst with icebreaker armor all around the ship with better turtleback armor* This thing will be nasty AF with ciliax built - w- Sorry Bismarck but it seems you will struggle a lot to deal with this nasty thing with torpedo and fast reloading guns I bet spartan will 1v1 with odin against a bismarck and saying *screw you bismarck* again
