What a Beautiful building , here in the south we have old cotton mills many saved and converted into antique malls and a few actually apartments/condos but i don't think they come close to that building . it's Awesome that building was saved . he needs to get it registered as a historic landmark or someday some clown will tear it down
The similarities between the two Kaplan families is just astonishing. 3 minutes into the video and I can already tell it's a real treat. How cool. You guys are historians at this point
Wow, that is an awesome place! Such an interesting guy. You can tell that he really capitalizes on opportunities that come his way. He definitely has a great business mind.
I cant believe the awesomeness of the contents of this building, let alone the craftsmanship of the building itself.great video ken. One your your best .
Kap , U did it again, Uncle Mikes full blow Bad @$$ . That Bike collection is so Cool I can feel the brotherly Love, clear from NOR-CAL Thank U and Mike, and your Wives. Thanks from NOR-CAL.
OMG! I fell on the floor laughing @29:30 when Christy turned around and gave you the “lets wrap it up” sign! Hahaha😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. That cat loves to hear himself talk.
He can talk all he wants in my opinion. He's an old hipster from way back and that's his museum. He's the curator of his museum/home. Curators have to talk in order to relay all the history of the things on display. I appreciated everything he had to say. It all had substance.
I have a harmonica form my grandfather that he inherited in 1914 He told me it pre-date 1900 .. ! It’s a nice big size too! Sits in the case and I have polished it once a year for the last 25 years !
I'm struck by how proper and meticulously complete Michael's antique treasures are. But even his original art (i.e. bicycle crash bars with jewel reflectors) gives you a glimpse into his own talent and tastes.
WOW! Mike is a super interesting guy! I am completely blown away by that building . His car collection is pretty amazing! That bicycle collection has to be one of the finest in the world. Super interesting video! Thanks Ken!
Penn stock, water wheels, leather belts and saw blades to mill the massive trees into massive lumber, some steam power mixed in too, along with plenty of donkeys, oxen and horses. Of course human ingenuity and muscle power overseeing it all. Under God of course
This was one amazing video. Gorgeous Building with mindblowing woodwork, antiques, beautiful vintage cars and hotrods. I loved that blue ford hotrod truck that he drove into his car collection garage towards the end, his beautiful guitars, and the Harley Davidson at the end of the video. Hope y'all had an enjoyable dinner last night. I've never known any one person that had such a huge collection of any and everything. Super nice couple, and I loved that James Dean edition Porsche. Mike is definitely a man of means, to own so many nice things. He must have had a great career. That building looks like a person could get lost in it, because of it's massive size, and definitely looks like the type of place that would be haunted. Lol
I'm blown away by the cool things on this channel. It never ends! "Draguar" is my fav. here. I always liked that old style jag body and this one pulls wheelies. He needs the Rat Fink bike! The cool thing about the bike is it was professionally painted, not rattle canned. Of course, rattle canned would make it a real rat bike. Lol.
He's got some cool bikes... and that building is amazing. Do they live in that place? Pee Wee Herman's bike from Pee Wee's Big Adventure must be worth some money.
Absolutely incredible! The total number of pieces is unimaginable! I will be looking this guy up for a private tour. I'm looking for a 1973 bicycle. Also Ken, my Mom collected elephants as her uncle did, trunks up as well. Peace🙏🏻
What a treat-filled adventure this is! Spotted Reddy Kilowatt at 17:49. Remember seeing him on the side of a local utility building crossing the Illinois river leaving Peoria IL after visiting my grandparents when I was a kid. What a gem of a person and place your "long lost" brother has here! You gotta give him and his wife a NEMM tour (if you haven't already).
It's amazing sir. The people that you have met the guy with the same last name is you. It must be true. It's amazing sir. You seem so familiar to me Cousin Mike. But like a younger version. I'm only 43 though. Maybe I knew you in another life. I grew up in MT. Your museum/home is outta site! I'd love to see it someday. Thanks for sharing Cousin Mike!
I have Kaplans in my family. They have highly esteemed rabbis and Jewish leaders on their side. As a kid, one of my best friends at Hebrew school was Jeremy Kaplan. Brilliant kid, another great Jew. Probably related to our man Ken here. The name Kaplan is special in the culture. It signifies those who descend from Jewish noblemen and rabbinical leaders. Ken is descendant from Jewish legends. 15:55 - My Summer of ill repute... Rat Fink Comic was one of my favorite reads back in the late 80’s early nineties.... I’m showing my age now.... C-Ya...! 😅✌🏼
Man I wanted to hear the rest of that Carol Shelby story. I could talk with this guy for days. He has some really cool things and the history to go with it.
When he had his arm around me in 1992 on a cruise ship in the Carribean put on by Bill And Chip Miller (rip) called "CARLISLE PRODUCTIONS CRUISING THE CARIBBEAN with special Guest Carroll Shelby “ where I was presenting him the bike as a gift from me, there were 300 major car collectors present plus Road and Track, Car and Driver, Motor Trend, Hot Riod, Auto Week, Automobile, Hemmings motor news etc etc. I saw Shelby in the airport before we embarked on the cruise and was like a tongue tied star struck spaz. He asked if I was on the Cruise and slapped me on the back and said "see ya on the boat mike". I knew he'd be seeing me on the stage with him but he didnt know about the bike. The next night the big cruise ship stopped in San Juan PR. Everyone disembarked and I went into a little convenience store where they had Gummy Bears, Gummy Worms, and Gummy Corvettes. I grabbed two packs of the gummy Corvettes and returned to the ship. I gave one pack to Chip Miller (aka Mr Corvette) because of his flawless collection of over 300 Corvettes. He laughed and said he was going to polyurethane the candy and put it in his CORVETTE room. He had me make him two Bowden Spacelanders (one red and one in paintable gelcoat which he had painted to match his Calloway Twin Turbo California speedster Corvette. BUT back to the story. Shelby was on stage getting roasted by the auto press and collectors when the MC said into the Microphone "Could Bicycle Mike please come on the stage". Shelby looked at me like "wait a minute whats going on here". I was wearing rattlesnake cowboy boots in the Caribbean heat (its not everyday you get to share a stage with Carroll Shelby). Once onstage I reached into my pocket and said to the crowd "I think everyone in this room is aware of the fact that this guy has been eating up Corvettes for over 30 years and handed him the gummy Corvettes. the crowd roared. Then I said "But Ive got a real present for Mr Shelby.. " In 1964 when I was 12 years old I used to ride my Schwinn to the Ford dealer in my hometown where they had a 289 AC Shelby Cobra on the showroom floor. Every week it was the same thing. Me , My Schwinn, The Cobra, a rag to wipe my drool off of the Cobra and the same 1000 annoying questions as the week before, until they would invariably give me a promo model of a Galaxie, a Fairlane, A Thunderbird or a Mustang and say “GO HOME KID You are bugging us” NOW I want to put Mr Carroll Shelby BACK on a bicycle and hope he is dreaming about Cars and Bikes for a long time to come” Someone went behind the curtain and flipped on the headlights and taillights on the bike and opened the curtain. Shelby said “thats the only damn bicycle ah ever wanted” and proceeded to jump on it and ride it around the stage on the cruise ship. He had recently had a heart transplant and everyone was admonishing him to be careful. I thought to myself “YEAH BE CAREFUL… I dont mind my 15 minutes of fame but I dont want to be the guy that killed Carroll Shelby”. When he got off the bike he came up to me and put his arm around me and spoke into the Microphone. What he said next is indelibly etched in my mind…. He said “ I used to think the only things that mattered were my Ranch in Texas, My home in California, My money in Switzerland, AND my car collection…. But NONE of that stuff means SHEE-IT….. ALL THAT MATTERS IS PEOPLE AND YOUR RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEM and I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS AS LONG AS I LIVE.”…. and Neither will I
Mike is absolutely amazing sir haunted house. I love hearing all these stories opening the door and right there the trains come in. Absolutely amazing sir. Ed Roth "Rat Fink" joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1974 and quietly retired in Manti, Utah. They even had an annual event in Manti to celebrate Ed's career and his contribution to the hot rod world.

26.35 .Wow a chopper .!!! Sorry last rambling comment .(I can clear a pub in half an hour)....We lived in the rough East End and only Billy (bully) staples had one .I was denied a bike until 12 years old for "safety" reasons .I blame my crazy bike years on this .Should have gave me one at 5 years old and i would be cruising around like miss Daisy now.......Ps this vid is fascinating.😮
