Dave Austin aka Capt. Dave was my Daddy. He passed away in 2008. Whenever I would be in the area for pleasure or business, the trip just wasn't complete without a trip to the Flora-Bama with Daddy. He just loved to introduce his 'baby' to all his friends. It tickled me to no end to see his face in the pictures in the video at 37 seconds! I haven't been back to the Bama since Daddy passed and the hurricane tore it up. I was in Pensacola on business the week of July 4th and had to introduce my co-workers to my favorite Juke Joint. I was so happy to see that it had the same feeling and flavor and my co-workers and I had a blast. It was a bit nostalgic for me honestly. I looked behind the front bar to saw that Daddy's plaque had not made it thru the rebuild and got to speak to Robin who remembered him well. I'm sending a fresh framed picture to her and would love to see it on the wall next time I get out there. The Flora-Bama holds special memories for me and I truly appreciate your friendship and kindness to my Daddy.
I love the Flora-Bama keep them Bushwhackers coming always doing it on the line nice people and great atmosphere so y'all come on down enjoy and also listen to great live band Flora-Bama is my second home from Mobile Alabama

I was at this bar back in 1999. Was a awesome place! I understand its been redone since due to hurricanes. I hope its still similar as when I was there. I hope to go back one day. I live in ks so a little bit of a drive.
@@FloraBamaSpotlight I live in Foley, Alabama and we drove a long way there. I wore the blue Super Bowl jacket, turquoise Pensacola shirt and black flip flops.
Somehow my mom and her two sisters are related to Joe gilchrist . Because of my grandmother being related to him so that my mom and her sisters are on his will!
You said it the responsibility to make sure this place doesn't change.... Well you definitely changed it when you cancel the open Mic on Monday nights. The right of passage to new musicians. Bring back our open mic and make sure it doesn't change.... Because this is the first change what are you going to change next? Not answering our comments and concerns about the open mic well that's the second thing that's changed. I hope somebody that matters sees this because they're apparently not seeing my text messages and emails to the bama. They used to answer me when I would have a concern. The responsibility to make sure this place doesn't change You said it I didn't... 🙄😏🤷🏼♀️
