Meet the Pond Cypress! Taxodium ascendens 

What are the differences you see in the bark?

The bark in the pond cypress is more substantial and thicker (squirrels love to peel and makes their nests out of it), and a more of a rust color . Bald cypress bark is more smoother and a paler color from my experience.

I love how they survive a fire and the bark holds onto the darkened bark for quite some time.

I bought 3 bald cypress seedlings and one has a really nice dark purplish color for some reason and green tips. It's really nice looking. I don't know why that one is the color it is, while the other 2 are green.
