Unfortunately, cable TV, talk radio and the internet spawned "entertainment news" where facts don't matter. Faux News took it to another level using "distortion news" with hosts paid handsomely to perpetuate misrepresentations of the facts. Talk radio hosts soon took the cue as the financial rewards for blatantly lying were impossible to turn down. Then came social media where anything goes. Free speech and freedom of the press has a price, which is why dictators control the media to match their twisted agendas. When you have someone telling Americans that legitimate news is "fake news" and fake news is good news, that is a red flag for authoritarianism. Now, a large percentage of the population doesn't know the difference, which is very concerning.
