@@jal45100 as a 32 year old millennial born in 1990, I assure you I am not confused. My point is, ballroom and voguing/modern house dance has existed since the late 1980’s and was popularized out of the Harlem scene in the 1960’s. It wasn’t technically “popularized” until Madonna’s hit single VOGUE became a sensation in 1990-and even then it still remained largely underground. That song came out the year I was born… but one kid in this video (Gabby-a member of GenZ) says millennials have an appreciation for their videos because the dance was the culture “back in our day.” But the reality is, most of us were literally infants and children. We had zero comprehension of ballroom because we were sucking our thumbs and watching Barney and Friends. We had no mainstream appreciation for the ballroom scene until recent years in thanks to shows like POSE and LEGENDARY. The people who were actively participating in ballroom in the 80’s and 90’s were around Madonna’s age, and older! She’s 64, love. xo
