Not impressed about the inkjet printing since it uses ink cartridges. Now if it had used ink tanks that you can refill with bottles of ink then maybe I’d believe it was capable of replacing an inkjet printer. Ink cartridges cost more per ounce than gold. For less than the price of one ink cartridge I can fill all the tanks on my printer with ink and print almost 15 times as much paper before having to refill the tanks.

You will enjoy it a lot, don't be afraid to use it for the first time, open it a soon as you receive it!. Even though this only cuts certain colors of acrylic (black, red, green... but not transparent) the right choice for cutting acrylics is a CO2 laser (these are diode lasers).

It can either with the rotary blade, knife blade or laser (be sure if you do the laser that you are using laser safe leather)

Seems to me if your workspace allows for it and is set up accordingly, having a dedicated machine for each task seems more practical…less fidgeting…smoother workflow. For those with a smaller workspace, perhaps an all in one can fit the bill. Always good having options!

I pre ordered mines because I love the M1. Ordered the M1 ultra 20W this time. No need for two 10W machines. Will miss the camera feature. However, you know true crafters don’t get rid of anything! Especially machines. Heck I still have the original slice and sizzix die cutting machines. Yes the sizzix you had to push through the base and go up and down with that red handle. Lol

Blade will cut vinyl (or you can laser cut laser safe vinyls only). Cut area is a bit smaller than 12 inch square.

Definitely a cool machine. Can you try making custom wood stamps combining cutting the stamp design on the rubber stamp material already stuck to a big piece of wood and cutting out the stamp outline with rubber & wood in one setting? Then laser engrave the stamp label name on its side so that you can keep it vertically in a box and can choose the stamp you want. Thanks

Maybe I am missing something but….. If you are moving between functions, specifically going from the laser to any of the other functions, will you have to perform a deep clean of the bed area to get rid of any of the residue/resins/ cut pieces etc produced by the laser cutting before placing the mat for blade cutting? As I see it, if you don’t, the mat will be likely to pick up any of the by products of cutting and it may be difficult to ensure the smooth surface required. Perhaps they will include a cutting bed and a crafting bed as a simple solution?

right out of the box, yes you'll need to clean the residue before moving to a different function. BUT the tray on the bottom of the machine is actually really easy to remove. so to clean it it wouldn't be difficult or time consuming to do. That said, they did come out with a crumb tray, which will make clean up way easier I feel.

@@ashleefalco many thanks for your reply. Looks like you concur with my thinking on this although in terms of workflow I think XTool need to highlight this so people have realistic expectations. It really is a revolutionary bit of kit but I fear it may be damned under the weight of criticism from users who expect a smooth workflow. I am interested to see how their crumb tray system pans out.

I saw in the live comments where someone asked if you can print directly on a tee shirt. I'm curious about that! I know the color won't be as vibrant as a vinyl iron on, but I'm wondering if the ink would just wash out also. I guess I will see when mine arrives!

This is impressive but it appears that you’re limited in your cutting of wood to 12x12 or less? I do like the print and cut feature for printing and laser cutting wood, as this is very impressive, however, the ink cartridges may be cost prohibiting and that concerns me since I know that regular ink cartridges are costly and run out very quickly.

Hello! This machine currently has a ton of accessories (you'll need to look at their website for the entire list). What I would suggest is getting them all. I know sounds WILD, but it's cheaper when you buy it all at one time versus piecing it together later when you decide you want to do more with your machine. About the fumes I think I've gone nose blind to laser smells because I've had lasers for so many years but I think cutting wood smells like camp fires and cutting acrylic smells like a nail salon.

Actually, it won’t replace your printer. Colors are not vibrant and only the colors instead of four. You’ll be able to use the ink jet printer for some things but not REPLACE your regular printer. It’s still an amazing all in one!

This is a cool machine, no doubt. But I wouldn’t “get rid” of any machine, at first, until you see how you may or may want to use each feature of this machine and how often. With inkjet printers, the cartridges are really expensive, (I too use a tank printer and it’s so great to not have to replace pricy cartridges all the time.) I assume the proprietary cartridges used by x tools are the same. But this is a “wow” machine for sure. I don’t do the type of crafting to justify such an investment, but it’s fun to see what it can do. Thanks!

It can't print on acrylic, it is inkjet ink. Engraving on metal will only mark it, not do deep engraving and ONLY on stainless steel. You need a different type of laser for that.

@@gabzwilson2750 Maybe the clear acrylic in the original was a vinyl cut out? The laser would engrave a coated tumbler, it is a common thing to do, you just need a riser and a rotary attachment.

it will engrave metal - I've done several metal engravings with a different diode laser (I have videos about it). If you want like deep engravings instead of a surface marking you'll need a fiber laser but a diode will engrave metals to last.

Nice video! But the shift between the print and the cut on the coconut is extreme. Even with you care. The design was right but cutting 1 or 2 mm wrong makes it pretty unusable for me

So my question is are the cut line and the printed line grouped so they stay in alignment while changing the modules? I am thinking short of actually bumping or moving your material during the module change, the computer has already framed in the laser cut once processed. Is that pretty much how it is working?

People are pointing to X tool and saying better the cricut and I will repeat my previous statements X tool is too high priced to be practical for crafters STOP SAYING its a crafters dream the crafter will take one look at the two prices and just buy the cricut. X Tool needs to do something about its cost before anyone can justly make the claim that crafters dream about it.

IMO it's the best all in one craft machine out there and the price is just right. This machine is a Cricut Maker: $429 Rotary Blade: $54.99 Knife Blade: $49.99 Engraving tip: $48.99 Scoring Tool: $32.99 Set of Pens: $21.99 Laser: $699.00 Cheapest on the market is a Glowforge Spark - has a way smaller bed size & it's only 6 watt - has no ability to do round objects like tumblers and engrave thicker items Desktop Inkjet Printer: $59 (cheapest one I found on google price will vary depending on what you buy) Total: $1395.95 M1 ultra 10 watt advanced bundle (which will give you everything above) $1279 - note that xTool often has $150 off coupons and discounts that can make this price cheaper. With all that said, it's a perfect machine for the crafter with limited space (because it's all in one) but it's also perfect for the crafter that wants the ability to do a little bit of everything. And frankly, my favorite part of the entire machine is that I now have the ability to print on ACRYLIC, WOOD, AND CERAMICS!

Unfortunately if the laser isn’t at least 40w, it’s completely useless to me. Plus if you’re going to go through the trouble of converting an a laser into a printer, why not a DTF printer which seems far more useful for crafting.

Some people don’t find that less than 40w is useless to them. The M1 ultra, for what it is, is a WONDERFUL beginner hobby laser crafter. Find me a DTF printer & 20 watt laser for the pricing that is equal or less than the M1 ultra. If you do, email me the links and I’d love to do a comparison between these two and the xtool m1 ultra.
