He began by reading scripture then went against what he just read. So I can only assume it was read in hopes to control how others would conduct themselves and did not apply to him. What a shame.

No he didn't. He just presented some background about protocol. What was presented was just a snapshot. We don't have any information about a larger background.

The man that started out the meeting with the Bible quotes should maybe take a closer look at those scriptures because they teach a gospel contrary to his behavior of being rude to other people. His behavior with his lack of working with the other gentleman was not the way the Lord would conduct himself given the same situation. Can you say Hypocrite????

You know, it's hard enough to be in a position of authority and then have that authority marginalized by an equal, especially in front of the press. But to have that kind of pressure AND be an elected official, responsible for the concerns of a constituency would have made me melt down into shouting. Chairman Miller's focus and decorum was more than admirable. And he did it without God on his side, as he should have done. I hope the press reported him as the more concerned man.

IMHO, I don't understand people running for public office, and then don't want public debate on issues - especially, from other elected individuals (people elected their representatives, so please let representatives speak, their are speaking for hundreds, if not thousands of people). In a democracy, let people speak their minds. Again, if you don't want to practice free speech, especially in a democratic society. So, almost needless to say, I commend the public official that wanted to conduct business in front of the press; we just have way to many meetings behind close doors that should be done in full view of the public, which elected them to office, in the first place.

@mattk5430

Separation of church and state is not quoted in the constitution. Once of the most common misnomers amongst US citizens. The idea of church and state separation was never intended to exclude religion altogether but to prevent an authoritarian from declaring a required state religion. Colonists were fleeing a monarchy that had used the Church of England to lord over it's constituents. The American colonists wanted to ensure the freedom of religious expression in the US.

According to Chairman Miller, his position as chairman is equal in authority to the position held by Chairman Sides. Miller wanted a meeting between them, which would normally be open to the press. Apparently, Sides decided on the scope, topic, and status of the meeting alone, ignoring Miller’s authority and input. Sides did it again, at the end, when he decided the meeting was cancelled and would not bother to listen to Miller’s objection to the situation.

@salteadog33 2 года назад
@@mattthompson5444 because nothing was accomplished, it ended badly, and the inclusion of religion only serves to alienate those of a different belief. He read the scripture to bring religious authority to himself. “I’ll pray for you”. It’s childish just like how he “took his ball and went home” when he didn’t win. If he can’t uphold himself to the scripture he expects others too, he shouldn’t include it, he’s just embarrassing himself.

I watch this video completely and I did not see at anytime, someone from the "state" attempt to control the "church". There's nothing in the US Constitution that says that any person cannot quote a bible verse to make a point. After all, that's why we have the so-called separation, not the other way around. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF..." in other words, it's not to seperate the church from the state, but to separate the state from the church...the state needs to stay out of church business, not the other way around. Any questions?
