YEAH! I have literally been waiting for this moment ever since you two started Ragnarok! I could write a whole essay on why Brok's blessing is my favorite cutscene of all time. I know everyone was expecting to get Thor's hammer, but Draupnir is the perfect weapon to show Kratos' growth. Every weapon in the past has been taken from an enemy he's killed, or even the axe which he treasures only came to him after Faye died. But this? It's a gift made specifically to protect his family, given to him by a friend who for all his faults was willing to follow him through the gates of hell to save his son. And Kratos asking for Brok's blessing? The god-killer, who refused to bow to the king of Olympus, kneels before his friend for no other reason than to make him feel better. He went from "the blue one is annoying" to "your blessing is the greatest honor I could ask for." I'm tearing up just thinking about it :') Also Brok's blessing being "may this be used wisely and only when necessary" instead of "to kill and win glory" says so much about his character. He's rude and crude, but he's got a heart of diamond as far as I'm concerned. ((last thing, it's a neat detail that Kratos' blood goes from an omega (the symbol of war in this universe) to a lambda (that triangle Spartans painted on their shields), as if The Lady understood he was more proud to be a Spartan than he ever was to be a God))

Casting Richard Schiff was such a genius move

The spear is the only weapon Kratos has ever had that was made for him. Every other weapon was given to him (if not taken by him). Blades came from Aries, Gauntlets came from Hercules, even the Axe is from Faye. The spear is the first thing built specifically for him (it even has his blood in it FFS).

Brok's blessing is absolutely beautiful. I cry almost every time I see it, especially when Kratos says "It's the nature of a thing that matters. Not its form" And that scene with Odin is also great as it shows how can't help but project when someone dares to speak against him. But the sad thing is, Odin is kinda right, specifically about how godhood. The people who followed Kratos tended to do so out of duty or fear, not necessarily out of love. But considering all Odin has done from what we heard and how he reacts to those who question or outsmart him, his superiority and inferiority complex, and his tendency to lie even when he doesn't have to, he really shouldn't talk. They do a great job making you hate him, especially how he lumps him with the rest of the Olympians. Sure he acted selfishly, big time, but to suggest he doesn't care about anyone but himself knowing why he's the Ghost of Sparta, just really makes you wanna shut him up.

Brok isn't shit-talking Kratos. He's insulting the enemies

One of the things Kratos hated most about the gods of Olympus was how much they cared only for themselves, how they didn’t consider mortals much more than playthings. He may be a god, but he grew up mortal. He thinks of himself as a mortal with power. Odin lumping him in with the rest of the Olympians, identifying him with the things that made him condemn them… that’s pushing buttons right there.

When the Lady forms the God of War symbol with Kratos' blood you can see on her face she doesn't like it, or that she feels that it doesn't represent Kratos anymore. So, she changes it to the Greek letter for "L." Spartans would often paint this symbol on their shields to represent their home of Lacedaemon the name for the Greek city state that Sparta was in. Kratos may not like being the God of War, but he is always proud of being a Spartan. So cool.

Love that scene between Kratos and Brok with The Lady. Kratos showing some honest emotional intelligence. He knew just what to say to Brok, and when you consider that he’s depending on that spear to protect his son’s life. That says a lot about Kratos’ trust in Brok as a blacksmith. You can see how worried Odin was about appearing to Kratos. He understood he needed a living shield in front to prevent Kratos from instantly striking and holding his son as blackmail. The spear may seem underwhelming at first, but the upgrades are good and the runic attacks are wild. It’s more a distance weapon. Better range than the axe and more accurate at a distance - no drop off. Even helpful against Odin’s ravens.

I really like the use of music during the scene when Odin and Kratos speak. When Odin questions Kratos about what kind of god Kratos was/is and calls him the "monster that kills without cause." The music in the background is the same music from the 2018 game when Kratos got the Blades of Chaos. The addition of using that music adds a little subtle reminder of how Kratos views himself. "You will always be a monster." "I know."

The spear is NOT Heimdal-specific, but it IS just a baby spear compared to all the XP you’ve been pouring into the axe and blades, so it does make sense to hold back on it until you’ve caught your investment up.

I’m about 63% sure Brok is talking to the bad guys when he says someone’s going to embarrass themselves trying.

Once again, Richard Schiff as Odin makes a lasting impression. The booming, omnipotent Zeus from God of War 2 and 3 is gone. Odin gets into Kratos' head in a way Zeus never could. He's such a snake, and I love watching it.

Doesn't want to use the spear because she's more familiar with the blades so decides she'll figure it out on the fly during a boss level fight with Heimdall?! 😂 Alrighty then. btw, the spear would have been very helpful in chopping down the white protective health bar that the ogres and grim had in that difficult battle. Unlike the blades and axe which were barely chipping away at it.

Here to remind you YET AGAIN to use the copious amounts of XP you and your companions have to level up. Unlock more of the weapons' movesets and LEARN THEM, upgrade Runic Attacks, start looking at all the equipment, the talisman, enchantments and whatnot you're not using. You're obviously falling behind the natural difficulty curve of the game and this is the reason for it. Really just take your time to explore the menu. I just wonder what is going on. You didn't have a problem organizing all these things in the previous game.

Depending on the element u affected with, elemental siphon (Hold R2) instantly cleanses the element from u. Dragur for example when they set u on fire use elemental siphon on that Dragur to cleanse the fire from u

Try and upgrade the spear to get Elemental Siphon! Its super OP. You take the elemental power of whatever enemy you fight and put it into the spear.

once you upgrade the spear and unlock some runic attacks, you’ll be pleasantly surprised how useful it can be in a myriad of situations. i thought the same thing you said at the same point when you switched back to the blades, now i almost exclusively use the spear on replays. its just severely underleveled compared to your other weapons rn.

Bro first you guys don't explore by going to corners or other than obvious path, but never-mind that, more than that you don't even rotate camera R3 to look around once. There is literally no gaming curiosity. The place where you had to look back to lodge spear and climb up, you did not look around even little, there is a realm tear on right where one of the world tree dragon child was to be captured. Thats just one example. Another when first you reached Asgard and you had to burn bush in the way, the same fire can be used to unlock chest below. I just wish you explore more, you will get rewarded not only with resources, but with stories too on Geek and Norse mythologies. But your wish after all.

I understand u're love for Memir, but u rewatch the story enough times, u will see how much (for story purposes) he is a hindrance to progress of the relationships of the characters, hopefully u'll see it too later, esp with the BOY 😁

Another great example of Kratos' character growth over the games. He once said, "I care little for the world and its suffering," in the Chains of Olympus game. Now he compliments and comforts his friend Brok, because Brok needed it. 🥲
