Meeting your Senior Drill Instructor for the First Time in United States Marine Corps, USMC 

My Drill Instructors gave me constant feedback that I was dog shit. Imagine my surprise on family day when my old man is hearing from my senior DI that he raised a respectable young man 😂😂😂

They weren’t worried about mistreating anyone when I was in boot in 1983. Semper Fi!

My Grandfather was a Marine. Never leave a man behind. That's the most meaningful statement he ever told me. That told me everything I needed to know about what brotherhood was like in the Marines and War at least from a verbal perspective. In WWII he said you needed to pay attention because it may mean your life. And like these men respect your fellow men because you'll never respect on the Battlefield more then them.

I was at Parris Island for almost 2 weeks before being medically discharged. It broke my heart to have to leave but now im going to try the army and hopefully they will take me

On a recent visit to the exchange at Camp Pendleton, I had the unsettling experience of seeing two male uniformed Marines holding hands. God, I hope we don’t go to war anytime in the next few years as our military has adopted DEI and have gone to Hell.

SDI sheffer a total professional a south east asia ( the nam to those that were their) vet and he had a good sense of humor about life and the Corps , although he would say that he was our corps daddy he was more of a fair prick who made sure that we learned and graduated from his island = 3'rd BTN parris island SC

For goodness sakes, if this is what the Marine Core is now god help us. I was in the USAF and got physically assaulted, bullied and just beat down mentally and physically in basic training. I didn't have a card to get me out jail. Wow how times have changed. No wonder why the military is the way it is now a days.

It served its purpose then because people much smarter than you or I determined that being bullied, broken, abused and hurt would render me compelled to comply beyond what the average 9-5 is needed. My DI was nothing like this. Cool, Calm, and deliberate but would F you up if you made a mistake. I went through in 97 and the DIs though intense were never just over the top like this just to be... Not sure how recruits weren't laughing at him. we get it.. your the DI.

Been there done that at San Diego, USMC boot camp. I was lucky enough to be there before congress ripped their nuggets off and it became a big deal if you were abused a little. SEMPER FI 1973

Sad you can tell this speech is well choreographed. When I was in the army, it was all improvised, and we were called everything BUT a private until we got to our unit!. It has gotten soft.

If you have been in the army long enough, you will know that the most devastating instructor is not the one who talks the loudest, but the one who talks the softest.

I was in the army from 2000 to 2004. Stationed and did basic at fort Knox KY. Been there, did that, saw lots of shit as well. Gotta admit though, that senior drill instructor gave me some serious Tommy boy vibes. Ya'll know that scene where Chris Farley asks the chick by the pool where the weight room is. He stands like a cross between that, and fog horn leghorn from the cartoons. He would have for sure had me doing push ups for days on end cuz I wouldn't be able to help myself from laughing at him standing like that. Lol. Yes, I had to do alot of push ups because I also had a drill sergeant like that. That, and I did hear him tell another recruit while standing in formation for breakfast chow that his mom should have stopped at a blow job. Funniest thing I've heard to this day. 🤣
