She is a true musician (as in can play instruments, read music, has a gorgeous singing voice) and I think this is what frightens the music industry about her hence why she has never been pushed into the spotlight, they just don't know what to do with her. In this manufactured world of music where Pop Idol and The Voice reign supreme, where most singers these days can't even read a music note let alone play a single instrument, Meg is a complete conundrum to them. How did music get taken over by these fakers, posers ? No wonder we are stuck with the shit we are stuck with.
They want artist that are yes people and the industry tells them what to sing and how to sound. Meg knows what she wants to sing, what to write, and how to sound.
I think there is some truth to this, but the not whole truth. She isn't phenomenal at any one thing. Objectively, her voice is not technically perfect. She's not winning any pure singing competitions singing other people's songs. She's not (or hasn't shown to be) a master of any instrument. She can play the bass, guitar, and piano (first video I have seen of her doing so), but it is just a supporting role and a supporting role not to her voice really. A supporting role to the raw and unfiltered emotion, they are just a means to tell the story. I can imagine as an artist, she is 100% going to do what she wants to do as an artist and isn't going to listen to anybody tell her to do anything different. That is my guess why she isn't huge, she is true to herself and doesn't know how not to be. Music execs want a great voice, a good dancer, an attractive person, and one who will do what they tell them to do. The last being probably the most important.
She demo'ed many of her songs on her upcoming album on patreon's livestreams. This was one of the songs. Lots of amazing songs on the new album and I am not exaggerating.
The instrumentation is so dark, Gothic, and haunting. The lyrics lift it so beautifully. There is hope felt in the words. "Your pain will be the guide..." Nicely done, Meg. 💖
The fact that she is so talented and gorgeous and is basically perfect and yet still hasn't exploded in popularity makes me feel better about not being very successful myself...and getting fired a few weeks ago.

This is only version I’ve heard other than the clip where she’s dancing. I’m excited for her new work. -favorite female vocalist...crazy beautiful how she uses her voice.

I just started playing the drums a few months ago and have been trying to play along to some of her songs 🥰I’m 38 tho lol and this ol dog is having a hard time learning some new tricks but I’m determined . I also am trying to learn bass guitar and piano ..lolol idk if I’ll ever succeed but it would be so awesome to jam with her sometime. Omg bahahaha and as I’m typing this I see her ending OMG I love her so much lolol
