Run-n-gun game by Konami. Sprite swap of Contra: Hard Corps due to censor in Europe at the time. Plus, robots are just too damn cool at times.
Something about robots and an alien organization and the X-Drive. There be lots of sliding and aliens and pretty [possibly seizurific] explosions.
Plays just like any other Contra game, really. Retains balls-busting difficulty and flipping. Made slightly easier with sliding. Does not retain buff topless men, but, again, robots are just too damn awesome at times! Unlike previous Co--Probotector games, this is a straight-up boss game. One minute, you are in a mid-boss fight...only to get into yet ANOTHER mid-boss fight.
This longplay plays through all of the stages and gets all the endings with little savestate spam (kept deaths intact). Only used a state at times to keep Fa--CX-4's Weapon B and Weapon D (glitch to shoot full-powered Psycho Blaster....whatever the hell it is called) I don't go through the Arena because...I didn't feel like it. . Unlike the [boring] Contra: Hard Corp longplay I did, this one uses all characters (initial start was with Ra--CX-1. True ending was with She--CX-2.) All those were just playing through with very little savestate used. -

Gotta give them some credit, I mean, remember this version was released in Europe as some countries would censor man-on-man slaughter (Germany, for instance); therefore, they did the best they could to keep the plot somewhat reasonable to the probotector series (Alien cell doesn't seem to be interesting to robots, but an unlimited power supply sure does).

@@YuckFouTubeX The last boss is some sort of weird bio monster with human faces. In contra, you can explain that by the Alien Cell absorbing human DNA or something. But everyone in Probotector is a robot! So the monster must have been humanity all along :)

This is the most interesting game of Probotector series, as they needed to make a quite few more changes than normal due to Hard Corps' heavier emphasis on plot and characters. There a quite a few interesting changes, like the Air Police busting you out instead of Deadeye Joe. Unfortunately, there is also lot of simply omitting dialogue altogether. It's also bit silly that the alien replacing Deadeye Joe simply fucks off from the rest of the game if you don't chase them. This was the last Probotector. While I'm certainly glad that Contra is no longer censored in Europe, I also think that Konami could revive Probotector brand as its own thing.

@@NikosKatsikanis hehee yes we did 😄 we did two player & both had to be spot on perfect to progress ! There were many shouting episodes where one of us were not in the right position etc and had to restart 😅😅 soo hard but awesome loved it 💕wish we still had this game xx

@@anonymoususind you have on less continue than in the american version wich makes it a bit harder the american version could be considered the "normal" version and the japanese version is the easiest one since it gives you 3 hits before loosing a life and you have infinite continues + it has cheats

I'm only watching this video, because I've always been curious about what the inferior version of Contra: Hard Corps looks like! :P The only change I approve of, is that it's the pilot guy saving you on the train level, instead of Deadeye Joe. That was pretty funny.

As someone who grew up with the Contra series, I've always found the Probotector versions pretty damn cool. Robots in general are awesome, and the "Probotectors" are certainly no exception, with their cool Patlabor'ish "ears" and everything. Except maybe robo-fang, he's kinda silly looking. But, grass is always greener and all that.

Just as awesome in gameplay, though it's a bit disappointing some bosses got their context cut. It's kinda like the North American release of Dynamite Headdy vs the original Japanese that had dialogue and everything.

Contra to Probotector on the NES was not a problem because the robots looked cool and there was not anything lost by not having humans. Really, the main problem there was the 17% drop of speed, which would have happened anyway even if they had kept the humans. In this game however, the change from (mostly) humans to robots is more noticeable. The lack of betrayal, the change from alien cell to X drive and a few other changes seriously tones the game down. Granted, that was the idea of the censorship, but censorship is by itself a bad thing.

What is the X-Drive? Is it some sort of Computer Hard Drive filled with viruses? Lol. I remember playing Hard Corps is the plot that is about stealing an Alien Cell from the Alien Wars.

i never understood they made "mini ends" ... but very well played ! This game is really a pain. I think developers forgot the game was not made for them, but children and youg men. I wanted to throw my MD through the window when I bought this game.

это официальная версия для европы. В Германии нельзя было отображать убийства людей, в итоге все заменили на роботов, и название игры поменяли для всей европы

I believe this version was the one that released in Europe since Germany (and maybe a couple of other European nations) had an issue with humans getting shot and killed. (Germany's version of Team Fortress 2 also turned its cast into robots, though they didn't change much about their external appearance, just what comes out when they get hurt.)

Sigh, I hate this game. Hard Corps with the lamest plot ever, essentially turning a dark and twisted universe full of death and treason into a child's story with bad aliens and bad robots, ooooo scary! Plus they've completely butchered Fang.
