what a treat to visit the largest mall in the philippines, at the time, after going through some interesting moments in philippine traffic. check it out!
Nice video! Thanks for this upload it brings back memories of working in Megamall that year. At 4:06 that's the place I've worked - Triple V Express - one of the best and popular eateries in the 90s. It was owned by the Villaviciencio's. Wow its really nice to see a video of Megamall in 1993. Definitely this was in December as you can notice all the X'mas Lights and Lanterns all over. By this month I have finished my contract and just stayed at home. By the way the restaurant does not exist anymore. It opened in 91or 92 then by early 2010s it closed. And that self playing piano is turned on and it was quite a sensation back then because on those days it was considered "hi-tech" and almost everyone was just awed by its performance. Then there would be a real piano player that would sit on it and play for about 3 to 4 hours and while on break he would eat at Triple V.
Thanks for sharing. I was in 3rd grade that time. I remember that was the first year they put light on mandaluyong municipal hall during christmas season. Thanks again!
Wow Triple-V Express, katabi nito yung Dad's. 😅 High school ako that time.
The impromptu of language is genuine, it is free flowing, it is also widely spoken at Public schools, it has tagalog as well, the mall itself is a statement of time, from the long entrance at that time, it has these wide SIGNAGE of the mall. The left side is French baker, the right is Jollibee, we usually visit the mall, commute in an aircon bus. There's not much traffic, but definitely it is as wide and clear, also not congested. Near Megamall, we also visit Shangrila, since it is just a walking distance, there is a big fountain that releases water as high as the upper floors, the whole place is also roomy, designed for all types of clients, customers, locals and foreigners.
wow megamall in it's infancy! my earliest memory of this place than i can remember was probably around a year or two later after this was recorded. i miss the old look of megamall both inside and out. bring so much childhood memories. i was a 90s kid born in the late 80s. last time i visit megamall was back in 2009 and the parking lot at the front was still there.
I remember this, I used to shop here at SM Megamall when I was little, when this mall only features Mega A on the right & Mega B on the left, now look at it, this mall gets bigger & bigger on 2022.
I was 13 when you recorded this; back then me and my friends were hitting our "mall rat" phase, so Megamall and Shangri-la were our stomping grounds 😂 Thanks for sharing this 👍
Thanks a LOTS for taking this video. So reminds me of my high school years visiting this mall 2x monthly. I really miss the 90s Manila. If only I could find a time machine . . . . .
Nang panahon na yan bihira lang kami makapasyal dyan dahil walang pera. Pero ngayon na can afford na wala naman time laging nasa abroad. Minsan mas mapapahalagahan natin yung mga maliliit na bagay nung simple pa buhay
Yes. . .it was packed but that is not yet packed with people. See how wide the streets near munisioyo before? Now, however it is jampacked with vehicles and people. Nice to have video of 1993 at megamall. It is Christmas season. And Thank you.
Now when you drive always should have a lot of patience keep cool present of mind be defensive and turn on your dash cam for future reference when driving...
Your musical background seems christmassy...Pasko ba ng kinunan toh? Those days. I'm still a student in UP Diliman. I think the first time I set foor sa SM Mega is around 1996 na back when I started working sa isang company malapit sa EDSA Crossing , ung PNCC grounds kahilera dati ng factory ng Eveready. Sayng yung Triple-V Express nawala na madalas kami kumain dyan
Not too much has changed since then structurally in the Philippines. Only, people, especially the youth, spoke to each other back then, now the young ones are have their eyes glued to their phones.
