+Andx56 I hated it as a kid cause I had to sit through hours of dialogue and beat the game 4 times just so I could get roll soul. Never touched it since I finished it the fourth time unlike the other BN series. Too many bad memories.
NegativeNanase Well I was pretty naive as a kid and got this without even playing 1 2 or 3, I still had a lot of fun playing it but yeah sometimes I hated not being able to skip dialogue I already read
+Andx56 The only thing I didn't like was how overpowered the Red Sun souls were compared to Blue moon. Search soul was way too overpowered and it was a bit cheap that they could shuffle the chips in their folder and pretty much get whatever combo they wanted.
Senhor Desconhecido As a kid I didn't know you could only get 3-2-1 souls per playthrough of easy->hard->super hard of the game so I got the roll soul on my last playtrhough. Give me a break.
Its crazy seeing so many people played this as there first Battle Network game as it was my first as well and I still love this game to this day. Yes I can understand the criticism for it but I still have a soft spot for this game for sure.
I really like the music direction for BN 4 in particular. I like the emphasis on drums and bass as compared to the other games in the series. While I personally think BN 5 Double Team DS remixes have the best soundtrack in the BN series, BN 4 is my second favorite soundtrack.
This was my first Battle Network game and I have very fond memories of trying (and failing miserably) to complete it as a kid. It has a myriad of flaws that do undoubtedly make it the weakest in the series. From it's wonky narrative and poorly implemented tournament arc, multiple typos that are admittedly pretty funny, and the odd design choice of making you complete the game three times in order to acquire all of the Soul Unisons. But despite all of that it's always remained my favorite of the six and that's largely in part to the games stellar soundtrack. From the new arcadey sounding title theme to Cyber Battle, Global Network, Electric Town and dual boss themes (Battle Pressure and Fighting Oneself) there's not a track I'd consider dull or underwhelming (sans the Incident Occurance! theme). Though I do wonder why Capcom chose Toshihiko Horiyama as the composer for this game (and the majority of BN4.5 too) instead of it being Akari Kaida or Yoshino Aoki.
Such a badass theme. My very first Mega Man Battle Network game and still my favorite. I just loved going to the tournaments and fighting all those Navis in an organized situation. EDIT: I love this song so much that I made a rock/metal cover of this song to honor it
Actually, I found BN4 to be one of my favourite BN games... Then again it was also my first BN game, so. biased opinion? The typos and stuff in this game were hilarious though.
It's as easy as memorizing the evil navi's moving patterns and going past them when the time is right. Don't forget following while their back is turned either, especially if it's near a ramp.
I bought Battle Network 4 Red Sun a few weeks ago and finished it last weekend. It was not the best Battle Network I've played but it's far, far from being a bad game. There are a lot of additions to the Battle Network series that started in the 4rd chapter and are awesome, like the Souls. What's up with all the hate, ppl? I really don't get it. I liked it a lot.
+DarkOmegaZero It was my favorite as well. People complained about lack of unique chips and tedious progression in the game but tbh i didn't care. I think the worst one in my opinion was the mini games you had to play in BN 5. Team protoman I believe it was called. Holy crap that evil soul mechanic was so stupid.
+DarkOmegaZero It was just a bit limiting. I didn't like how souls only lasted 3 turns and the souls basically forced you to include chips of that element in your folder just to transform into those souls. You're already allowed only a small amount of chips in your folder as it is. That and I absolutely hated how you couldn't use the soul unison function when you were in a worried state after getting hit a lot by enemies. It's pretty hard to make a comeback from that because your folder is filled with a bunch of weak chips that you only have in your folder because you wanted to use it to do a soul unison.
EVeryone hates this... This and battle network 3 made my childhood. This had very great bosses, great music, good storyline (I admit, not the BEST), and a ending that makes you cry.
People make a lot of issues for the typos, like was something to ruin a game, a lot of megaman classic games, X and even Zero got typos too. People say that this game has no story, well the 3 first game (also the 6 one) has the same story, a evil group wants to take over the world by using a cyber creature that can only by awaken using 4 programs, 1 of them always is on Lan´s School...
@megabenlinksonicman My God, I remember how annoying the first game was when it came to traversing the internet. Thankfully, the map in Operate Shooting Star made it easier.
Well when you put it that way I guess it does seem easier, I have been able to get past the first and second areas, but after that it gets harder for me. I guess it may be because I'm not that good at stealth games and felt like there was abit too much Metal Gear Solid in my Mega Man. Or it may be because Capcom decided to assimilate Mega Man Battle Network into the web if Hard Capcom games. Still I do enjoy it nonetheless and will keep trying.
Oh boy the one game everyone seems to hate, I wanted to like this game and tried to be as open minded as possible as I was marathoning through this series without knowing anything I wanted to see what was all the fuss about with this one. At first it was fine but then later Down the road....yeah actually started to see why many people don’t like this one the terrible translation, the bottom tier joke of a story, the tournament sections and scenarios. I remember blazing through this game and finished it in 2 days and being disappointed at how fast it ended until I finally looked why and figured out about the fact that you need to play the game 3 TIMES in order to view all scenarios and get all the souls I was already like “nope” and went STRAIGHT to BN5. I really wanted to like this game I really do because I felt like this game definitely had the potential but unfortunately it was just a rush mess of a game that I’ll probably never play again.
BN 4-6 would've been better if it wasn't for CapcomUSA removing the extra content which this game had plenty of and made it very good. That's why I get mad when people diss this game and the others.
The soundtrack, atrocious? Boss battle theme, Duo theme, Tournament battle theme and others are awesome (except robot comp and "danger"), the best boss battle theme is in this game. This game is over skilled, not like exe 2 where you can put 5X the same g/m chips because it's all the same Standart chip. The story style is different than exe 3; i like the zoom, it's not a bad game but a game for pro ( EXE 4.5 is the best with this game) ;)
I still don't understand why they changed the title theme and graphic/art style from 1-3. Not to say the title themes from 4-6 were bad, it's just that I felt 1-3's theme (especially 2!) was more catchy and symbolic of what the Battle Network series was as a whole. As for the graphics, I felt the Overworld/Cyberworld graphics were definitely worse in 4-6, though the battle graphics were still fine. Did the creators just want a change, or was it budget cuts?
I think they wanted change. I think they felt it was improved. I always thought that it would have been better had they kept everything changed in 4-6, but also just keep the shape of things as presented in 1-3. That aside, I love all of the intro themes haha. MMBN3 was my first one, but my buddy used to come over during the summer and play each one when it came out so I felt wistful lol. Everything was so cool. The features, the characters, the remastered coloring and clarity..the only loss in my opinion was the actualy shape of some things, specifically the characters themselves. They seemed to squishy and I found it hard to take the game as well as megaman/Lan seriously at times lol.
Problems with bn4 -full synchro -typos -the game being missions from other games but required -Some if the tournament bosses -not being able to get better versions of chips until the 2nd and 3rd time -Needing to play the game 3 times just to get all the souls -The tournament arc having no real affect to the story -No connection with bn3
@Kytosai13 BN 4 was ok the dark chip concept was cool but it just reminds me of star wars, "join the dark side" plus compared to other BN games it's really not all that great...
There is a TON of translation errors in every MMBN what are you getting on with... Also please tell me one of the games when the story was something notable.
I remember being so pumped for BN4, and when I first started playing it, I thought it was actually ok. I liked style changes over the double soul system though... but then I found to get the other souls you had to beat the same game over again 3 times. That really turned me off. It would be fine if you just needed to replay it, and you faced different people in the tournaments. I dunno that 3rd (6th if you want to count both versions) just was too much...
This song is so awesome. It draws you in and makes you want to play this awesome game. Then immediately slaps you for thinking this. The game IS playable and it's better than some but I found it to be a lousy successor to the previous three installments. However it did have some nifty features with it's dark chips, soul unison, and synchro system. Personally I just didn't think it made up for the lack of fun the game presented. At least the music was great. =]
I was very disappointed when I went back to play this on an emulator over a decade later. Just a bunch of tournament arc sidequests while your dad does the main plot offscreen. I had so much fun with it when I was a kid though, and I'll always be thankful for those memories.
Battle Network 4 is a game that I really want to love. It has so many good ideas, both in gameplay and plot, but fails to live up to the high expectations BN3 made. The tedious structure, clunky story, just barely decent music, the weak selection of Souls (only played Blue Moon), and a very cliche ending makes this both the worst Battle Network game, and the worst Mega Man game that I've ever played. This is just my opinion, BTW.
Well when you put it that way I guess it does seem easier, I have been able to get past the first and second areas, but after that it gets harder for me.
