Mega Man X6 Review - The RETROspective 

I do plan to cover the classic series at some point.

@@FiresideGamingReviews x6's gameplay and parts mechanics are so robust, it makes it the most replayable X game from the PS1 era or even from the entire series. Sure, the enemy placement and the level design can be wonky at times, but it more than makes up for this in other areas. X5 is just plain annoying and uninspired by comparison. Duff Mcwhalen and Squivers stage are way worse than anything that X6 throws at you in terms of pacing and fun. Meanwhile, X4 is so easy that you don't even feel compeled to complete the game the 2nd time with the other character. And there's no extra content like X5/X6. Still, X4>X6>X5 for me in terms of overall quality, but with X6 being the most replayable. My series ranking by the way: X >= X2 > X3 > X4 > X8 >= X6 > X5 >> X7

@@FiresideGamingReviews And if you disagree, what in your opinion does X5 do better than X6? And would you rather play X5 back to back or X6, now that you have probably replayed those two games about half a dozen times

@@franciscoalmeida9019 The parts system is a neat feature for sure but if the levels aren't good then it doesn't really matter all that much. And while the controls are good it's just basically the same as X4 and X5, which is a good thing, but it just means I'd rather play those two games instead. Don't get me wrong, X4 and X5 have their problems and I cover that in my reviews of them as well, but I find them both to be much better games than X6. So while X6 may be more replayable it still doesn't change the fact that I don't really want to play it anymore. I haven't made my review yet for X8, so it might change its position in my ranking, but here's my current ranking of MMX games. This does change from time to time though so don't think of it as definitive or anything like that. X > X2 > X5 > X8 > Xtreme 2 > X3 > X4 > Xtreme > X6 > X7
