By early 2019, the game had over a billion global downloads, grossing over $3 billion in revenue. The game also had over 147 million monthly active users as of May 2018.

Yes I had enough passes to raid every local gym. How can you call it raid day with only 4 sorns out of over 18 gyms in a day. Terrible

I wound up doing 2 raids because I happened to be near a gym when it popped off, and the lobbies were packed… except there was no one around. Literally zero people. All spoofers.

If you have a lobby of 20 legit players and spoofers, you can just instantly run from the boss and stay in the pokemon switching lobby and the raid will get taken down for you in a couple minutes. Stress free raid and you don't have to waste 12 revives from outrage one shotting every pokemon haha

The main problem is that they didn't need to do a lot to improve this event. Just make it a regular 3-hours raid day who we will be able to remote as well and take the remote limit raids for the day or set it to 20 and everyone would be happy. It won't mean that the people won't meetup for raids. We still would because it is just cheaper to raid in-person. But we could do it in one area. Without driving/biking like crazy between locations. Easier for the people with kids etc.

Absolutely, I live in the suburbs and I still had to drive around with a group like a maniac to get a good route. The problem is not putting elite eggs in every gym, instead of having a normal grinding location, we had to drive in circles around a couple cities just to get 14 raids over all 4 hours. Now, my luck was insane, 3 shinies, a normal 98 and 96, but there were a few people in my group with nothin'...

Well it was free and it was incredibly easy to complete if you had a Mega Rayquaza to defeat - just one for the whole day (assuming your research timing was OK and not like in the regions where it finished too early). I don't get why people keep wanting freebies and a constant stream of high rewards. What would be the point if it was always easy? And for sure people would eventually tune out if there wasn't highs and lows. Human motivation does not compute long term steep power/reward creeps.

Many things of this event was a mess: the research tasks for the Meteorite, the spawn span and much more. The only positive thing for me was that I managed to do 10 raids and got 1 shiny from a raid. But yeah, this event could’ve been way better.

I did 18 raids and got no shiny on my main account. On alt i got shiny 98% on third raid out of 12. but we got a guy in our community. He came to the second round. On first raid he got 100%, on second - a shiny xD

Thankfully i had a little bit of a better experience. I had done 14 raids total and even got a shiny. However, one issue that became very clear was how DANGEROUS some people around me were making it. People were racing to the next spots, clustering in tiny areas with their cars and even causing traffic by parking in the middle of the roads. Niantic for sure needed to make some changes. That was hectic.

In my area it was dangerously hot (even triggered the extreme weather notice in game). So a lot of people, myself included, skipped out after a couple of raids because it was too hot out. Thats something they need to keep in mind as well because that’s becoming a routine issue in the summer months due to extreme weather conditions growing across the world.

NO CELLPHONE RECEPTION. Anyone else have the problem where you would go to certain raids, waste your riad pass by getting kicked out of it for not having reception? If only the raids were more common, I could stay in the main city.

Our local groups did the best they could but it took a lot of scouting, mapping and communication. Even then, the most you could do in an hour was 3 or 4. Then folks had to drive to another area to get the next most efficient cluster of raids. It ended up obligating folks to play nearly all day instead of just a few hours like a reg raid day. That was a frustration instead of fun. Also we went like 3/100 on shinys. 1 hundo from about 200+ rays caught. Really disappointing for dedicating that many hours to an event.

@@tonycarletello669 although I understand there is payers that play the game this intense I am a dad with a packed work and family schedule. I love to play this game but mostly play it while asking the dog as that does not take time from my family. Elite raids and shadow raids are very hard for me to complete or coordinate as I live in a rural area in a country where poke on go is just not that popular… imagine I had to grind up to the e where you get to nominate pokestops in order to get pokestops in my village d the villages round me… same for routes. So although I understand some people can totally team up and have fun with this my type of player has a hard time with anything not remote raidable. 😅 luckily have a ton of Rayquazas from last event and the free meteorite code was pretty cool as sadly the research was out of my league. My only real complaint was even hitting all of them with an excellent golden razz boosted everytime it wouldn't stay in the ball. I was lucky I got 7 of the 10 I did but others in my group weren't.

My catchrate was maybe 50%. Maybe slightly better. Those gold razz excellent throws seemed to make NO difference at all. By far the WORST raid catch rates I've seen since I started playing in January. Not Groudon, not kyogre, not mewtwo, not kartana, were nearly as hard to keep in the pokeball.

my parents live in a small town outside of kansas city and they werent able to get a single extra trainer to help them and they checked all four time blocks and used campfire too. i on the other had have more ppl, as i live in a burb of denver and mine insta 20 trainers. i felt bad since my parents wanted to unlock him and didnt get enough mega energy for ray last year. alot of times i help my folks by remoting to them or they remote to me. They need to change the name to Pokémon Drive. Most places don't have 20 randos sitting under a pavilion, and even playing on foot I've ran into two whole people who knew what I was playing. Ever since everyone quit there's a huge shortage of actual friends to gather and go; the only way to accomplish anything is via car.

This is Pokémon Drive. I miss the game where you could do this on foot. I wonder how many places in the world actually had a crowd of people under a pavilion, and how long it would take the average player to sprint there at noon.

@@libradawg9 yup, the game always benefited driving over walking, but with this sort of events, it's even worse. The fact that a very small amount of raids is available, the limited timeframe, and that you require quite a few people to defeat them, is just a terrible design decision. At this point, they could just eliminate de raid battle timer, and players could solo everything. Atleast no one is dependent on others, someone soloing will spend a lot more revives, but atleast they can complete the raids. The passes are limited anyways, there's no reason to not have an unlimited timer.

@@dcarvalho6144 The double-whammy of doubled Remote prices and the barrage of people who quit has made everything friend or group-related impossible without a vehicle and a lot of gas. The point of the timer confuses me. When you're this lucky to get three people to local raids you shouldn't get sliced in half than when you remote into 6 or more.

Same. Cyndaquil day was my last forever. I don't find Pokemon go fun. I'll stick to actual playable storylines on console. That's what I love. Not pay me here's 💩.

It was a true disappointment, to go from Raid Day, to then elite raid, even with the raid, if you did not finish the research by a certain time, then all of the effort to get a the stone for Dragon Accent it was for nothing. I live an Amsterdam, NL and had to bike all over the city, one spot had 10- 5pm and 9 6-pm raids - and after 3pm half of them disappeared - it was tragic

I did a lobby with 5 high level trainers with good pokemon (including me, so 4 other trainers) and we only finished the raid with 30 seconds to spare. Insane and stressful.

It barely even suited the suburbs! My community's raid day spot with 8 gyms only had 3 rayquaza all day that popped at 6:00 and another raid hour spot with 14 gyms only had 1 all day! It was insane how far apart all the raids were even in the suburbs. Elite eggs should have been in every gym in a raid day 2-5 style! My group of 11-29 players only got to do about 14-16 raids all day and we had to drive like maniacs all across a few cities just for half decent routes. Sorry to hear about your experience, but it's a pretty well-known fact that Niantic couldn't care less about rural players😕😕

All yesterday did was make me pissed off. I live in small ass town there is just over 20 of us playing. My wife and Idid 2 mega raids she got kicked out of both right at the end and I glitches out when the raid ended and the medallion comes down it froze I rebooted and the gym had the timer still and I didn't get to catch

I went to my closet major city for only ONE Elite raid. It was a complete joke and terrible event. All the excitement and joy I expected completely faded into disappointment when I heard they messed up the egg spawns in the first few time zones.

Previous elite raids will spawn at each time slot. now each elite gym will only spawn 1 rayquaza throughout the day. forget about waiting the same spot to raid 12, 1, 5, 6pm. They are purposefully limiting our ability to raid multiple gyms.

My town has many gyms and poke stops and Mega Rayquaza raid only spawned one time (at 12 PM). At the other 3 scheduled times it spawned once on different cities (50 minute drive in between each) which stopped my friends from playing.

sucks to suck, my city had a lot and a lot in neighboring cities but i only managed to do 4 as the raids were too far from each other and the other trainers that were “fighting” w me weren’t even fighting they were just sitting in lobby waiting for a free ray, we ended up losing and lost that ray cause there was only 4 ppl left and 10 mins left 😐

It was a real scramble to get routes set up for each hour because of the limited time limit. Woke up around 6 AM yesterday, since the eggs didn't spawn 24 hrs ahead of time like they were supposed to, and took a look around campfire. At first the map looked like there were only like 3 raids in my area. I was so disappointed at what I saw for the first hour and decided to get some additional rest. Woke up around 9 and thankfully there were other gyms that filled up with eggs. Was able to successfully host and navigate a group through the day, but Niantic really has to understand that they are apparently unable to to handle Elite Raids. No 24 hour eggs, no additional spawns in the area after the boss was taken down, and absolutely horrible shiny as well as meteorite drop rates. This wasn't an elite raid day, it was a slog.

I can understand why people are upset, yesterday was kinda neat tho. I was fortunate enough that I live in a town that had alot of elite raids. Our community leader and alot of randos worked together to work from one point to the next stormchasing this boss. Me and my wife had alot of fun. Would I rather have had him in just reg mega raid, yes very much so.

Wasn’t horrible I had work till 5 and still got 3 I live in a smaller city. I will say tho I got lucky there is a small dedicated community in my town because the raid filled up as soon as that group got there and I wouldn’t have been able to do it w j myself and my friend

All my community leaders have practically given up on this game. I had to step up and organize 2 separate elite raid gatherings. We ended up doing only 3 elite raids due to how far apart all of our local EX gyms are, even though we have at least 25 gyms in total in the area. Niantic needs to scrap elite raids. They aren’t fun, and they aren’t convenient for anyone.

Only things I would change are the egg spawn timers to be longer, like days if not a week in advance and change the raid hours to happen at every hour instead of all at once. Managed to get a group sorted and we all took down 4 raids in total together, but had to rush to get to each one as they all spawned simultaneously and wouldn't have time to take them all if we waited around. 3 shinies and a hundo were acquired from a group of 15

How about the bugs? Duplicates of yourself in the lobby, being able to enter an Elite raid Immediately after beating it to do it again. This was crazy and confusing.

another horrible one is when I would go in an elite gym, it would show 8 other players and say that there was a lobby of 9, then after the lobby timer goes down and you waste a raid pass, you realize YOU'RE ACTUALLY SOLO and have to exit the raid!!!!

We had to plan it on our Discord/Facebook group. Did manage to get a shiny from a raid that was seconds from expiring and we were lucky to get to that raid just in time.

It was horrible and I was in a populated city. I drove around and got 4 raids. I can’t imagine what people in a small town got, maybe one raid if people even showed up. On top of that mega Rayquaza sometimes would glitch out and I had no idea when to dodge.

Yeah I live in a cluster of cities (maybe a 10 to 15 minute drive to jump from one to another) however out of the like 15 elite raids within a 20 mile radius only about 8 raids spawned, two were in complete dead zones so really only had 6 to work with (for all 4 windows). I got 5 raids done which is more then I expected but it was a headache to do any after the 12pm window

As a solo player in the outer suburbs, zero chance in catching these legendaries - so many hoops to jump through, have to be at a certain place at a limited time, organise friends to be there at the same time, hope you have enough firepower to take down the legendary and then fingers crossed you are able to catch the pokemon - waste of time for me.

EX RAIDS were JUST WAY BETTER. My EXPERIENCE of ALL EX RAIDS was BETTER BY LEAPS & BOUNDS. ELITE RAIDS didn't have the eggs the night before, PLUS, the STARBUCKS which was a SPONSORED ELITE RAID GYM NEVER EVEN GOT AN EGG. THAT IS WEIRD! ELITE RAIDS R ALWAYS CHAOTIC, n people tend to be UNABLE to GET IT TOGETHER ON WEEKENDS people r soooooooooo last min, and the HIGHEST TURN OUT is on THE 1st ELITE RAID, so if u don;t have a car (n most cars r full) u r screwed. Then the next set of raids, we got was 1 at 5:01, and 3 final ones at 6:01. As always, n00bs botched the 2nd raid, so we had to abandon it to save time. ELITE RAIDS aren't even a full hour like EX RAIDS, n EX RAIDS u got prior notice anywhere from a few weeks, to sometimes OVER 2 MONTHS.

@@CshmrGraff yey great, living in a big ass city must be fun to raid, imagine there are smaller towns with 1gym and few people that actually play. The raid structure punishes people to live in rural places and not in few milion population city. Its not fun.

I worked hard to have multiple teams ready. I play on three different accounts level 47-48 on different devices. Have done so for years and raiding is very rarely a problem for me regardless of raid boss. I prefer it like this as I live in a rural area and players are hard to come by. Yesterday I had three shadow Mewtwo teams ready level 35-42. Psycut and Ice beam on all. According to Poke Genie each team should do ~40% damage. Well I tried a few times on both weather boosted Rayquaza and non weather boosted. Once down to 50%hp on Rayquaza there was only about 130 seconds left on the clock meaning I was behind and wouldnt be able to win.. So ran. I used max revives and were fast doing so and also had a lvl 45 Glalie mega evolved on all accounts. What did I miss or do wrong? Or is it simply not doable unless even higher level Pokemons? 😫

I think our city was just about perfect for it. Lots of raids spawned. The big parks had two or three in each time slot. We went to two parks and large numbers or players were at each of them. The two problems we had were that they times overlapped with meals, so we had to completely reschedule how we would eat that day, and the kids got bored after two raids, so we only got three done instead of the seven we could have managed pretty easily.

i managed to get a mega, but it wasn't without hassle. i missed the first raid cause i legged it there, quit the lobby to mega my charizard without thinking of doing it in lobby and missed it by a few seconds, had to wait the hour to do one at 1pm, then i had to wait 4 hours to do a singular 5pm raid, best was a 15 12 13 and my day was in shambles lmao

I enjoyed your summary of this event and I agree heavily with the part about Niantic punishing people for living in low population areas. I live out in the middle of nowhere and there was only one other player there to help. Needless to say, we did not even come close to winning that raid. :(

This was my first Elite Raid and because it was elite we got 3 people to come out and join us that would not have if this was a regular raid. So I actually like it. It got a few of us together and brought in a friend from out of town and we hung out all day. I also like the times of the raids because it gave us a change to grab some food and just hang out while we waited for the second wave. It was a really awesome day for us! Not everyone has the same situation, but for us, it was a great day to catch up and play pokemon

Man I live in Az around the outskirts of Phoenix and there was nobody around to do the raids, plus where the eggs spawned in areas not so safe or well populated plus the 100 degreee weather

My little town only had one Rayquaza raid all day and it started at 5:00, so I drove an hour one way to raid in a different location. The people in my town weren’t able to complete the raid. Very disappointed in this event.

My community has about 15 gyms And there was only one gym with the elite raid in it all day.

All the elite raids by me were at gyms that are the flood zone at the moment because of flooding

As a new player I can say yesterday was a mess for me! Campfire app is a mess and people don’t use it. I had nobody to communicate with and people that was raiding was in groups that knew each other. I felt excluded and Niantic punished me for not raiding in a group. and my low lvl Pokémon’s got wiped during the raids. Each raid I finished I got only 6 balls. I missed on 6 Rayquaza because of low amount of pokeballs.

Yeah, 6 was a slap in the face to my lower level friends. I'm lv 40 and I usually got 8-10 balls, the lowest of raid balls I've seen since I started playing in January. And even then, Maybe about half the raids I did ended up with no catch. And the catches i did make were mostly garbage 2 stars, even fewer 3 stars, 1 shiny, and NONE of them had even 90% IVs

Only had 3 raids near me. Actually got enough people and won the raid. I think we got a total of 36 balls, and I threw 30 Excellent, curve with a golden berry and all 3 Rays fled. But... at least I got the 2 Meteorites.

Absolutely, the catch rates for this were WAAAY lower than other legendary raids I've seen since I started playing in January. It was MAYBE 50% for me, perhaps a bit better. Golden razz curved excellent throws seemed to make no difference at all.

can confirm, my friends saw me in raid lobbies with them despite I joined the first full lobby and was already trying to catch Rayquaza. And when their raids started, they were the only person in their lobby doing any damage. NEVER seen that kind of glitch before.

Luckily we have an amazing and big community here but the elite raid is total trash. Mind as well call it limited shadow raid 🤦🏻‍♂️

They also didn't give out the standard raid day 5 passes! I'm a free to play player and had organized my entire day to include only 6 raids since I had one raid pass and had calculated those other 5. Instead I met up with the raid group I had organized, and got to the second or third raid and then ...had to buy passes for the second time in my life 😢 it was fine, buy I had researched and nowhere ok their website was there any info about how many passes we'd get ..a hint I guess we weren't getting any now in hindsight...

I must have been lucky cause we were able to get a group of 13 together to do 8 on the first round of raids. We had to drive to each location which sucked. We then did another 4 in the evening, but I had a good experience because many of us were free all day with no obligations.

I was very fortunate that I found an area with several 12:00 and 1:00 raids. Also there was a large group of people. It was an hour from my house!!! I did the drive because I had no other option.

similar case had to drive almost an hour to get that one raid at 12pm...next raids were 4-6h later, did not have that much time to waste waiting. This even should be like the last one with Dialga. All gyms are full of the raid, everyone can do multiple to their heath content be it local or remote your call.

It was a chaotic mess here. It was hard to plan, spawns were so far apart. Because people were panicking, community was out the window. People were in such a rush to get to the next location they werent willing to wait to let stragglers into a lobby. We missed out on so many due to numbers and rushing.

We had 16 eggs in Hyde park in London. Managed to hit them all and get 14. Got 2 x 93% and 2 shinies. That said if you lived in a village it was dreadful and encouraged GPS spoofing I assume. As that's the work around for not letting us remote.

I live in Las Vegas and play on the west side of Vegas with a community called the Breeze Brigaide. We were able to do about 20 raids. Compare that to Mega Groudon/Kyogre raid day where we were able to do almost double the amount of raids and were able to just walk around our main park. Having a sytstem that's designed around driving in peak traffic is just a terrible idea. I know 2 people that have gotten in serious accidents on the way to a raid. It's sad. Just let us walk around in parks like on a normal raid day. Most of the ex gyms are a mile apart from eachother. People have to pick between risking their lives for a game or breaking the rules in game and then getting banned. Driving in Las Vegas is no joke. We have 194 traffic deaths per year on average.

I had a group of four people in my small area with some gyms. Only 2 raids were actually in range for us to get to if we saw others try to raid, but no one else did and even just the four of us wasn’t enough to take down one. We tried to take down one single raid until we ran out of revives, and we failed each time. We couldn’t do any other raids. Super disappointing. I did 20 raids on Groupon raid day, and I spent almost $50 to do so (no shinies, sadly), and I would have gladly done it again for Rayquaza if Niantic let me, but nope… darn elite raids. But on the bright side, I did get a Shiny Ho-Oh with my squad before the elite raids started.

Was so terrible. We had tons of gyms amd they spawmed at the ones where wed have no service, would kick us out or just not let us join. I know its soaring skies season so they will probably come out with rayquaza again. But wth !! Mext time id rather have them in every gym and able to locally raid them. Niantic flopped on this one. Even the game would freeze all the time every time theirs a new event..

I got 9 Rayquaza's with 1 shiny. Great raid day for us, although we didn't see the eggs ahead of time we were able to make it happen with the 12, 1 and 5, 6 pm. It took a whole day and there were tons of trainers out. We had several full lobbies when we played. We had 4 carloads of people caravaning from place to place but we got it done and had fun. There was enough time to grab lunch in between the 1 and 5 pm time slots. We are rural Texas so we had to drive to the city but it made it fun too. Yeah, people missed out, but for those who made a point to do them it was a great time.

This was such a clear cut win, and they botched it. This should've been like the primal raid days. No difference. Yet they made the raids harder, less accessible, at worse times, with no shiny boost. What a joke. I managed 4 raids through the day because there just aren’t many elite eligible gyms near me. Our group had to take a 20 minute hike down a muddy trail to get to one gym and then hike back to the start of the trail because of the weird times.

I saw what seemed like 20-30 within a 5-10-km area and I was only able to do 2 because they were in the same park and an hour apart in terms of hatch times. You can not proactively raid in my area unless you drive around, which is not something that I see as a healthy way of engaging with Go as an able-bodied person. I don't know why Niantic feels as if every community can just pull up to a raid and there will be people to help. That is not the reality here, and it's what made remote raids so great because even when we were out and limited we could raid IRL thanks to online help and remotely if we chose to. Ruining remote raids was a stupid idea.

I did 1 raid at 1pm CST and got a 3 star with not the best IV, was wanting to do more but had to go shopping and take care of a few errands. By the time i would have been able to do more raids the gyms that were spawning had no one around to actually do the raid. Not to mention the heat index in Houston, TX was 115 F... who wants to sit around outside waiting for people to not show up in that type of weather 😅 i am lucky i at least got a rayquaza but was looking forward to getting a few more that never happened. They really dropped the ball on the potential for this event. I have a friend in the UK that got into a raid but there werent enough people so he was unable to get a Rayquaza even though he tried.

This event was horrible! Couldn't get to any Elite raids close to me and wasn't gonna travel to ones far away and find no one to raid with! Missed finishing both meteorite research because of this too! Luckily i already have Shiny Ray so didn't mind too much tbf! Niantic needs to change these Elite raid events though!

Las Vegas around Sunset Park was able to hit 8 of them, and on the last raid I lucked out with a 3 star shiny, but I feel for those who aren’t in highly populated areas cause they don’t even get a chance. Maybe they could have given one special research so everyone could get a chance? But I dunno I think they also want artificial scarcity so it stays rare in value? I dunno

Did 7 raids and 3 ran, I did get a shiny with good ivs, but the rest were garbage. This event definitely could've been better. Nonetheless I did have fun gathering with my community to complete these raids

Campfire really helped get our community organized. Great ambassador makes a big difference. I don't mind that things are hard. Makes it more interesting.

I fortunately had a decent rotation in my area of about 11 within a 5 mile radius. However since I'm in a city there would be lines of cards stopped on the side because it's the fastest way in reaching as many raids as possible. If it was a regular raid day this would reduce traffic and we won't be mobbing up the road or driving slightly faster just to reach the next raid.

We had about 5 scattered around the city, managed to do one at 1pm and 1 at 6pm, I was looking forward to do doing many raids but the locations and spawn times were so bad that I was only able to do 2 of them

My first raid going solo...... Horrible experience I have two be greatful I caught a a great two star Rayquaza out of four chances nobody show up at 12pm raid I waited 1pm raid last 15mins catch Rayquaza 5pm raid no show I waited 6pm no show I waited😮‍💨😵‍💫😤🤬

I get and understand what my man is saying…. BUT they basically did say that if you’re someone that lives in a rural area or can’t really access or play Pokémon GO because of disability or anything like that … welp maybe Pokémon GO isn’t for you?! …. In a lot of interviews, they have to watch what they say so they don’t get crucified by people, but if you know how to read between the lines you know they don’t care about people who can’t get out and play the game, or People, who live in communities that lack Pokémon gyms or a strong player base.. THEY DO NOT CARE! If we all stop playing the game they would just shrug your shoulders and let the game die…. They really don’t care.

I saw glitches during these 4 hours that I NEVER saw before. "Blind" catching challenge where my screen was just the gray-striped background of the post-raid summary, couldn't see Rayquaza, couldn't see the catch circle, couldn't see the pokeball. Getting "stuck" on the screens just before the catching challenge to the point where I had to rejoin a raid that I had just completed. My gf seeing me in their raid lobby they just joined even though the raid was completed and I was already in the catch challenge, and when their lobby started they were the only person doing damage.... What a fucking clownshow.

My park has 15 elite raid gyms and all spawned Mega Rayquaza eggs. We still had a blast yesterday, had about 100 people show up for the 12-1pm raids. I am very disappointed by the last minute bait and switch. Why advertise this as a raid day, then turn around and basically make it exclusive? If they were going to go this route might as well made Mega Rayquaza exclusive to Go Fest. I can't help but feel unsatisfied by the whole thing, everyone should be given fair chances to get one of the best Pokemon in the game. If we were able to remote raid this, I would've for sure had an opportunity to get a shiny since I didn't yesterday. I wasn't even able to get Enamorus because they did Elite Raids while me and a lot of other people were at work. Elite Raids just shouldn't exist.

I want someone to be honest about How truly awful these actual were. There were 8 of us ranging from level 43 to 50 and we barely took it out at the last few seconds twice! I was at NYC GoFest last year and global when rayquaza debuted and nothing like this. Y’all wirh 20 raid lobbies didn’t have the same issues. This entire day was a joke. We didn’t have any hatch at 12 or 1 and all ours hatched at 5pm all 8 gyms had eggs hatch at 5pm smh 🤦🏼‍♀️

Definitely a scramble for my local discord to plan efficient routes for each hour, but they did well. We got about 5-6 raids per 45 minute session. I did 10 raids (the last 2 hours of the day) and everyone in my car (4 people) got a shiny. There were about 10-15 cars at some points driving around the neighborhoods and filling 2+ raid groups.

My raid day was pretty successful. However, your negative opinion on how this raid day went is valid IMO. You're dealing with the following factors for a Elite Raid day; -RNG for times -previous point coincides with placement of the Elite Egg -other players schedule In more rural areas this becomes even more frustrating when the player base is spread out. If the times were not so lob-sided I think players could deal with it being in person. But the extra RNG of timers really rubs people the wrong way, and I agree.
