The nation's tallest dam which forced nearly 200,000 people to evacuate their homes and properties six years ago, is now doing something few thought might ever happen again: getting rid of water in a still rainy season to make room for more.

Thank God. They said it was “la Nina” a dry winter and was going to make the drought worse and look 👀. The Bible says to those who look at the sky for weather “hypocrites” you believe the weather people but can’t believe in God? Even the meteorologist can’t guess the next storms right. They started back in December about how small was the first storm going to hit California and next thing you know boom unexpectedly huge storms kept coming. It’s not what we say it’s what Jesus Christ says, even when the Word became flesh and walked the earth he commanded the storms to stop, demons are scared of Him. The next person reading this might negatively comment about this post mentioning Christ because they have a demon and their demon squirm like a worm at the name of Jesus Christ. Whoever reads this God bless you and hope you have a best day ever. Remember Christ loves you and died for you and I love you too that’s why I share this with you because I care for you. Repent and focus not on the storm of your life but on Him the Christ and he will set you free from your struggles, yes even set you free from your depression just how He freed me from my own depression too and I can lean on Him and he gives me rest. God bless you bro/sis.

@@wicked2740 So, how do you fix it? I was raised in California and have family and friends there still, so I am very aware. ' I am speaking in generalities now, NOT directed to you in particular. All I hear is whining, and not just from California. I hear the culture wars, "WOKE" until if I hear that word again I'll scream and those saying it have no definition of it. They talk about the evils of regulation and when their world shatters who do they call? "Why doesn't the government do something?" I'm not going to list all the issues, but I've been voting since Richard Nixon, through Republican and Democratic adminstrations and the same issues are being "talked" about. There is a bipartisan bill before the Senate regarding safety regs for the railroads. The Republicans are slowing it down and may try to block it. John Thune of South Dakota, who just happens to receive a ton of money from the railroads and lobbied for them, says it needs "discussion". So here we are. We have given up our power. We are clutching our pearls over issues that mean nothing but are fed them to cover up what really matters. Did you know there is a huge shortage of Albuterol in the US? It's meaningless to you unless you yourself have, or someone you know and care about like your kids, have asthma or COPD or other lung issues. It was cheap and readily available and has literally saved my life when my airway has totally closed. There is one company left to supply the entire country, kid of like the baby formula. Now THOSE are issues to me. Yes, and the lack of storage capacity for water in areas of the country that are desert and becoming a worse desert, when there is water like we have had this year. THAT IS a real issue. Start knowing who you are voting for. George Santos is a great example of how people do not vet their candidates. We talk about holding officials to account and when it comes time to cast that vote we just cave.

@dwarfhunter Most resovoirs or dams were built prior to the 1950 in central California. 73 years ago or so. What has changed since then? Population growth . More residences and business. But also agriculture . Most water in resovoirs is not for local residences but for agriculture. That was the reason why they were built in the mid 40 and 50's. Still 80% of our water flows to the ocean . Our current water system is too small and we have outgrown it . Water conservation and other like means to save water have only mild worked . What has to change ? Either a reduction of 50 % of California's human population or an increase in dams and water storage areas.I think it was said an orange , just 1 orange takes close to 13 gallons of water. You can say that what produce we sale is also exporting our water! If California didn't grow we wouldn't have drought conditions so bad .

@Puukiuuki
@Puukiuuki Год назад
@@citizenz2072It was not good. It was built on badly weathered rock like it would have been on a solid foundation, resulting in too shallow anchoring. The debris/dirt was not properly cleaned before pouring the slabs, and the drainage system did not work well (partially due to the drainage system design which caused the slabs to crack in the first place, leading to significant water saturation under the slabs). The slab thickness varied wildly, which did not help either. Ultimately the problem was that the combination of poor anchoring, bad adherence, and water saturation resulted in lift & buoyancy overcoming the weight of the slab and the anchor capacity, lifting one slab off, and leading into subsequent fast erosion of the spillway). The design was up to code (back then) assuming good quality bedrock, although it was still somewhat flawed. A larger problem was that construction was not done all that well, leading to relatively shallow anchors on weathered (rotten) rock, filled up drains, uneven slabs, and various other things. The detailed investigation report is actually a good read, I have read it (skimming some parts) a few times.

It is called Permaculture, and a man named Geoff Lawton is an expert in explaining and showing what it is, and how you can turn a desert into a lush growing oasis with healthy soil that stores water. I like how this started with the lady saying last time it was used was in 2017 when the poorly maintained (by DWR) spillway failed. In 2019 all of California reservoirs were above full and had enough water for 5 years. They released water from the dam in 2019. The reason they're keeping it low is two fold. 1 the gates need to be replaced. They're suppose to start that I believe this year. One at a time. One a year. 2 because of court orders they have to keep the water at a certain temperature for the fish. So they flow water out the bottom at the power house. To make up stuff about climate change is pushing an agenda. When they built that dam they were suppose to build another reservoir in Marysville. Never happened. To me when the population grows, more water is needed. Another thing is it really hasn't been that hot here in CA except for that last heat wave last year. The highest recorded temperature in Oroville was 116 degrees and that in 1926 I believe. That's why I don't watch the news because it's what they want you to hear. Add PG&E, the scape goat, starting fires left and right burning people out of rural areas into larger cities thus raising electricity costs has people brain washed. Then on top of that our governor, Nancy's nephew, thinks it's a good idea to ban gasoline powered everything because of the environment when the Democrats business partners China (along with India/Russia) are destroying our air. In Australia, the early farmers felled most the trees on their properties and, in most cases, were cavalier with their water usage, until we had the first long term drought in Australia since white settlement,from the late 90s to 2011,where most of Australia was in severe drought and Lake Eyre in central Australia hadn't filled to capacity since 1974. The river systems on the eastern states all flow from Queensland into N.S.W,and through Lake Eyre and on to Sth Australia, where it joins the sea,so the more water you take out upstream, the more problems you will have down stream, and in a country like Australia, which is mostly desert, that will have a major impact on the river systems and the people downstream who need the water just as much, and if not more, than the people upstream, who are growing very water intensive crops like cotton. As a matter of fact the biggest property that wasn't a cattle farm was a cotton farm called Cubby station and this 1 farm was the size of Rhode Island and used so much water that it was causing some of the effects of drought to impact the people downstream far worse than they would have. And large areas of Outback Australia are dead flat and usually are flood plains, but the way the authorities set up the system, the flood planes, when they flood, has the water pumped to reservoirs and stops the water from being used by the local flora and fauna, which leads to the plants and trees dying from lack of water and the fauna having to travel further and further for water that used to be around for all the plants and animals all year round. The sad part is that the people who can do something about these problems are beholden to big business, and what big business wants, big business gets.
