Here in NZ we get a similar run of big snapper on the mudflats channels around new years , my theory is the flats crabs are in softshell or they are just gaining as much condition as quickly as possible post spawn. I have caught a few on softbait from the dingy as well including a memorable double of 20lbers one night (my boat draws 6ft so too risky up the little channels at night so I row up in the 8ft dingy) amazing how few people target them but then I suppose you can put in allot of time for just a few massive fish. Please if you do though don't kill the big ones the aren't that good eating and you will get a few 2 or 3 kg ones take those home if you must.
Watching Winga swap hands to lift and wind around 22mins is the reason I taught myself reel with my left hand! Nice fish guys! Goes to show fish come to the thinkers and the innovators!
Quick Observation/Question. Winga, you guys seem to have used a palomar/clinch knot to tie the circle on. Do you feel that you get the same number of hook ups as when you tie a snelled circle , or a circle on a loop? Great fishing and awesome channel :) subscribed!
@Antipodean33 your off your head that's a well legal kgw. Maybe your from a different state but that's well legal in Victoria and there's plenty of them
Why did you guys make a excruciate pain that fish and let go? If you not gone a eat that fish then leave fish alone. think about that hook when trough your cheeks.
