Somewhere in San Diego on misty nights through the whispering breeze and synthetic city lights; you can still hear a middle aged Asian man singing his own extended version of a Barbra Streisand song.
his father never let him have white bread when he was growing up. the bread symbolizes his transformation into adulthood and growing from the loss of his father
Hahah! I've been wanting to see this for ages ever since I heard about on the podcast. I think Rocco did a pretty good improv performance here. So good that people are still talking about it years later.
Probably a long shot since you commented on this 4 years ago lol, but do you remember which podcast he talks about it on? (or at least have a summary of what actually happened here? I feel like there's gotta be more to the story of this guy who asked him and the whole context of it all, so crazy haha)
@@nessx007 Don't know if you ever found it, but here's a reply 4 years after yours! Rocco talks about it in Podcast Episode 4. You can also find a clip from the podcast titled "Rocco's Failed School Presentation Origin Story" on the Mega64 Archives channel.
what's great about this video is that mega64 is built upon the idea of making the public react to uncomfortable situations and this is rocco being put in that situation and trying to deal with that
This is over the top. I don't think Rocco should feel embarrassed about this though. Pretty much he holds tight being a kind hearted guy for some thoughtless ass. I'm surprised there was nothing said about this video at the end like a confession of how he felt doing this.
The ridiculously huge frown he's making at the start trying not to laugh is just great, like, how did Rocco not just bust out laughing and walk off stage? That must have been one of the longest feeling 7 minute durations of his entire life.
A lot of this improv is just about as good as he could do, I think I would've just ran away from the scene myself, so congrats Rocco. The end was so unintentionally funny!
You know, for a 2004 video, I actually feel sorry for Rocco here. I know that Mega64 is known to put people into either unexpected and out-of-the-norm experiences with characters like Mario, Luigi, Link and many other skits, but here you have to admit, Rocco didn't know what he was doing here. I want to hug him now because of how painful it is to do a song that kinda is ill-fitting. I can picture him with Sting's Sister Moon and that would have worked. Rocco, hope you feel better man.
When you have like four props and an entire lengthy song to improv over, you're gonna explore every nook and cranny of how one can jostle a table, remove one's glasses, and consume bread.
That would've been a great ending if the song ended there. I can barely watch this. It's make me embarrassed just watching it. He is doing some good improv, though. What was with the bread?
