Megacity London: Engineering our Future is an online season exploring the city’s future through the lens of engineers and artists, as London’s population rises above 10 million.
Artists Sprankenstein and Stephanie Bickford-Smith collaborated with a team of graduate engineers from Mott MacDonald and Buro Happold to create a futuristic vision of London. They went on to develop artworks inspired by the engineering projects tackling the challenges that London will face above and below ground when it becomes a megacity.
In this live Q&A, the artists describe their creative process in developing the artworks, and engineers Emily Farmer and Stuart Norris from Mott MacDonald speak about the mega-projects they are working on. They are joined by Carol Costello, architect and director from Cullinan Studio, who is in partnership with South Bank University to develop GreenSCIES, an innovative ground-breaking project looking to provide low cost, efficient smart energy systems for local communities.
Watch our Megacity London playlist to view the artworks released during the Megacity London: Engineering Our Future online season.
This project is supported by the Royal Academy of Engineering.
