Dystopia was great , at least they didn't try ripping off Exodus like Metallica did with their last album. Both bands have evolved in weird ways over the years but Megadeth aged better than Metallica. (But overall all of the big 4 are great.)
@@cayde-6969 That Hardwired to Self Destruct was classic 80's Exodus. Lyrics, tempo, and that machine gun guitar setting. It's not all bad, but it's not Exodus either. Good for Metallica fans though, they always complain that Metallica went too "hard rock"but that album smashes that illusion completely.
To each his own. I don't drink because I'm extremely vain about my great skin and alcohol makes it look dry. As far as chicks in videos, I don't really care but I feel that it's a glam rock/metal thing and debauchery suits that genre. I would never pull my shirt up at a Metallica nor Megadeth show because it just wouldn't feel right in that genre of music. It's a kind of 'when in Rome, do as the Romans do' kind of thing. I love some glam rock/metal bands like Motley Crue and I can't really say what might happen there, lol. I had a gay male babysitter who I adored and that probably has a lot to do with my love of gay men. On the other hand I understand Dave's bad experiences with being groped by gay men and it happened to my "pretty boy" ex as well. I think it's great that neither of you got violent about it. You guys have probably heard of the death metal band Dissection, there was an incident in Sweden that ended in the killing of a gay man who had groped the front man/singer. I still listen to The Somberlain etc simply because I love the music. It's the only melodic death metal that I like. To be able to appreciate music created by someone who killed is rare. I would not kill but I don't judge those who have. Anyway, I love both Megadeth and Metallica metal.im mentioning both together because despite your differences in style you are not only masters of metal but brothers in metal forever. Wishing all of you the best.
@@fabricio2467 Im not sure about that dude. Poland's solo material has always been better. Could you have imagined Friedman playing on the first two albums?
Great drummer he had a powerful style and love how he worked with the bassist chugging a powerful back ground behind Dave and Marty in R.I.P. album. One if the greatest metal albums of all time. Is the whole documentary on RU-vid?
Curt Hightower nick collapsed on stage while performing with his band and died when he got to the hospital. His cause of death was heart failure and he died in 2016.
James and Lars never expected to hear about Dave again when they sent him home. He proved them wrong. It's amazing that he had to start from scratch and still 'made it'. I remember reading the credits on Kill 'em All in '83, thinking "who is this Mustaine guy?", because there was no info about this shit anywhere at the time. It wasn't until 'Kerrang!' ran the "Killing..." album review in '85 that I even saw a picture of him! He was pretty well swept under the rug before that [publicity wise].
@@seanmetal4138 Mustaine is certainly a fighter and has proven he's an intelligent, thoughtful songwriter and lyricist but he'd be the first to say that in 1983 his drinking was way out of control and while all the members of Metallica were notorious alcoholics, Mustaine was known to be a very nasty, spiteful person when he got drunk, as opposed to to the other members acting more silly and stupid whenever they got inebriated. Silly drunks and angry drunks dont mix very well in most types of relationships period and in working-type relationships like rock bands, it's a big turn off. It's sort of the same toxic formula that eventually caused a schism in Pantera between vocalist Phil Anselmo and Darrell brothers later on by the late 1990s and early 2000's.
I wonder If Dave needed it. I'm sure it lit that fire that drive to crush instead of being in a band gaining success and being wasted. That when fired you go in a lasy slump, drowning in self pity. Till we hear you died cause they drowned in their vomit.
Every time Lars talks about mustaine he speaks like he's talking about some girl he was in love with who friendzoned him. I guess in a way it's a pretty accurate description of their relationship.
@@honigdachs. lars is the only metallica member that care about dave, and all the interviews that mustaine gave, he says, i like james better than lars, and that is ironic
@@arthurvisser9318 Yeah, you're right lol, that's interesting. Lars actually is the only guy in Metallica who really gives a shit about how Dave feels.
@@arthurvisser9318 Lars is the only one that publicly talks to him. Don’t remember the last video I saw with James and Dave hanging out. Yet he’s so vocal to shit on Lars.
you can't have a band with so many alpha males. You need balance. Mustaine needed his own space to truly shine and he's done that. I truly believe it was for the better
Your right brother! I have had the pleasure of meeting him 3 times and he was really cool every time! I just had gotten out of the army and was a bellman at the Hilton in a totally dorky getup! I welcomed him to the Hilton and asked him for his autograph! He signed my pad and gave me a pick. I thought that was cool as hell! It was 1990 and I went in the lobby to show this hot front desk chic. She had a pen and scribbled over it! I was laughing but mad at the same time! It was pretty funny cause she couldn’t care less!
I mean who doesn't, but that... would just put them one step closer to being another 80s cheesehair band like... I won't name names, but the point is Megadeth and Dave Mustaine were ALWAYS about the music. They didn't need floozies to sell records. You know it; I know it. I'm not trrying to be a dick, just clarifying the facts here. Cheers and fuck off
Lets see Metallica admit how much Dave did for them for the short period he was there. Considering, he wrote more music to them than Jason did. And Jason is a very good songwriter, which is just criminal to not let a guy contribute.
@@vannacee26 No they haven't. If they did, he'd have writing credits on all of the songs on Kill 'Em All. There's stuff that James does while writing songs and stuff that Dave does while doing the same. KEA is filled with Dave stuff.
He didn´t left though, he got kicked out, a lot of difference, also he never really moved on, Thanks Lemmy we have two great bands, but he still never left, Jason Newsted Fookin left the band, Dave not.
Veikka Järvinen drumming wise he’s nothing special, but you gotta respect his musicality. He’s responsible for structuring some iconic tracks song ie. the intro to “ride the lightning.”
@ He is one of the best composers in metal music lol. James himself said. "I am good at making riffs and lyrics and all that stuff and Lars is good at seeing the whole picture of the songs and putting those pieces and riffs together" That is why Lars has writing credits for almost all Metallica's songs. And he was great drummer back in the day. He is talented as drummer too but he do not practice anymore and he is also older. Btw he is very smart guy and very good bussinesman too.
@ I can't wait to hear your band who apparently are going to blow Metallica away, LOL. You fanboys are pathetic with no idea. Perhaps stick to the crappy shit from the time you were born.
you can tell how self centred lars is when u listen to him talk, he says "dave calls me and tells me how hes doin", not we call each other and talk ya know
@@maximusmax4557 Ok, Puppets is an argument but putting justice over rust in peace is so biased and lacking objectivity. Rust in Peace might be the best album from any of the big 4. I'm a fan of all of em, but can spot somebody being a fanboy. There's no reason for it either because everything is cool between them. Put respect on Rust in Peace.
Maximus Max naaah I think they are on the same level, puppetz has the melody but rust has the feeling, each are great in their own place , but justice better than rust? Get the fuck out
James is a dick when it comes to Mustaine. They must’ve had some heated battles that James is still upset about. Anytime he’s asked about Mustaine he makes a backhanded compliment. Like the time he said “Dave? Dave who? You mean the guy who was in the band for like 10 months that we threw out?” At the same token they took the liberty to use Mustaine’s music up into their 2nd album (possibly 3rd) but James doesn’t want to talk about that.
Dungeon Music and if you see the way Dave talks about them in this video he is the grown up, just respect for metallica and aknowledges their part in his success , something James and Lars have never done for him . The guy is classier .
I like Metallica's music more, but Dave is an amazing song writer. Dave can write some kickass songs ans his band is definitely a huge influence to upcoming metal bands and i wish the best for him and his band.
I love how metallica is so well known especially in the context of megadeth that the title didn't even need to include last names, it just says "james and lars" and you know exactly who it's talking about
The day we all stop arguing about who is better who is more original who is blah blah blah will be the greatest day in metal. Personally I love both bands and as a musician I am incredibly influenced by both of them and have huge admiration and respect for both of these bands. I am grateful to exist at a time these men were making music. What an incredible privilege.
"Me and Dave cant have 2 beers......We half to have all the beer" That basically sums it up. But dam Chris can play. RIP GAR. 8 yrs ago Saturday Dime taken from us.
Well the whole Megadeth -Metallica feud sold alot of records and both bands were aware of that. I remember anytime I was in 7-11 and saw a metal mag and it had any reference to the guys talkin trash I bought into it instantly. But in all actuallity Lars and Mega-Dave were friends talking almost regularly. It was Het who had the problem. Kinda like Hets insecuritys with Jason, nobodys gonna get the best of Het. And look what Dave accomplished. He basicaly wrote KillEmall and then put out K.I.M.B.
Mustaine was experiencing the paranoia induced by the freebasing he was doing at the time and suspected Jeff of having an affair with Dave's girlfriend at the time. Mustaine called Jeff and said he was fired because he tried to fuck up his relationship with his girlfriend, which was untrue. Mustaine was becoming pretty paranoid about stuff during 88-89 because of all the freebasing that he was into.
I like how two musicians say completely contradictory things, and here you are telling us which story is true and which isn’t when you’ve just read the same shit we’ve all read. How the fuck would you know? I’ll give it to you that it’s been six years since you typed that.
@@seo-yeonahn Most die-hard Metallica fans respect Megadeth. The same cannot be said vice-versa for die-hard Megadeth fans. Don't get why people can't appreciate the importance and badassery of both bands alike.
I'm fairly sure in Dave's own words, he called Chris Poland "the best guitarist Megadeth has ever had", and that's not to diminish what Marty has done, or what he is capable of, but Chris is the ALL TIME GREATEST Megadeth lead player, PERIOD!
As great as Metallica and Megadeth became. I cant help but think how much more they could have been together. Can you imagine the lineup of Mustaine, Hetfield, Burton and Ulrich would of been?
LOL Dave is not a bad guitarist, but Kirk Hammet did and does better solos than him. Hammet always was better and he's not a virtuos.. Then Marty Friedman.. well.. Marty is from another planet. He's some kind of beast playing the guitar. Extreme hard difficult killer solos, psycho style, the right wrist technique, etc. He did the better thrash metal solos of all time. He kicks all the asses together. I like both Metallica and Megadeth. Yeah, that's possible.
The first two Megadeth albums stand the test of time TO ME more then the first two Metallica albums. And of course Kill em all would not exist without Dave.
@@budmucket Hmmmm... I love Megadeth, but Dave's put out a few dodgy songs over the years. Some of Risk is really underrated, but there's some utter garbage on there too. Same with Super Collider. Every band's put out a bad song at some point though, especially when they've been going as long as Megadeth have.
Ain't happenin', says Dave Mustaine! Can you imagine what it would be like, though, for them to be making a video, with sum hoochie mamas dancing within about 3-6 inches of you, shakin' their butts and boobs at'cha, right within arm's reach? Dave would say NO to that scenario in a New York Minute...or less!!!
it had NOTHING to do with " ego " , they were still not famous in anyway, and it had ALL to do with Mustaine and his drunken antics and fighting. Those guys would get drunk but not violent , imagine being in a band and your trying to party and have fun but you have that one guy who wants to fight everyone! Fuck that , that gets old REAL quick.
"mm I think I mean .......(this is the dave hour) no i mean just amm..... in rust in peace.......what? (what?) ............... what's the second record? " jajajajaja very funny
@@jmpsthrufyre 1- during a metallica documentary, they did a little part for the megadeth history. So james talked about that part. 2-when he talked about the album, thats very great for dave. Lars was happy for dave and he listened a lot.
Knox Harrington Can’t disgree. Ride was great, Puppets was phenomenal, Justice was technically perfect but lacked soul IMO; still great though. Stack Megadeth’s records of that time frame up and I truly believe Megadeth is the superior song writing band. Love them both by the way.
This is surely some new level of horse shittery. Sure, Megadeth has two near flawless records with cohesive song writing. When you start comparing the bands' third, fourth or fifth best albums you will quickly find yourself comparing songs like Liar to songs like Dyers Eve. That's a dead end.
Eh, I would easily place MoP and AJFA over anything Megadeth related but I still love both bands. Just literally nothing beats those two albums for me.
@@dzaijn Megadeth is still making great albums, while Metallica is really mediocre now. 13 was great, endgame was great, United Abombonrtions was great, and Dystopia was fantastic.
VIC Rattlehead is on my left shoulder skin forever. When, I was 15, I was listening Metallica. Now, I'm 53 and I'm playing MEGADETH stuff very often (and stuff from the other band too😉 ...).
At 6:36 The ex Metallica guy. In 1984 I finally found out who this Mustaine guy I saw on some Metallica songs on the first 2 albums was when I read he had a brand new band that was going to be putting out an album soon. I couldn't wait. Although like Lars Killing didn't do much for me but Peace Sells is a metal masterpiece
Notice how Lars paused when he mentioned Rust in Peace? Then he went on to talk about Peace Sells to deflect what he was going to really say. If he were honest, he would say that Rust is considered one of, if not the best metal album of all time.
@bhauger1 This. It's just a blast of thrash metal greatness from start to finish. If your 1-2 punch on a record is Holy Wars and Hangar 18.. Holy shit.
seriously that story that Scott told about Japan was hilarious He seems like the type of person that u would drink with talking about those old megadeth stories hehehe "I only speak English"
Jeff Young is hilarious. You'd always hear Dave badmouth him - like he does with all ex members - and say how he was a "pretty boy" etc. And here he is, hair done nicely and he's totally gentle and effeminate and everything, haha! Funny dude. Chris Poland on the other hand, man, that sounded so bitter and depressing. I got sober ... I drink tea now. I'm totally happy with what I'm doing now. Please kill me, let's just get it over with right now.
Until Countdown to Extinction came out I didn't know that he used to play in Metallica. (Never listened to a lot of Metallica apart from MoP). Cool lol!
@akchishty Well I love both bands in the equivalent matter, I've listened Megadeth from Killing is my business album to their latest album United Abominations, haven't checked out Endgame and Thirteen yet but gotta get the albums. As well as Metallica I've listened to all the songs from Kill Em all to Death Magnetic. Interesting thing is that everytime I spend the day listening to either bands, there comes upon another layer of love to the 2 bands, something you didn't know existed.
