Percussive and fingerstyle guitar covers of pop music did get popular in recent years and, although it's quite an impressive feat and takes a lot of skill to do, it's not really the same as playing rhythm and lead. The actual (guitar) genre which does theoretically play both is called 'Classical Guitar'. There might some amazing compositions and players (not Segovia) in classical guitar, but to be honest it's not the greatest and in my humblest opinion, inferior to a piano. Classical style (and even modern percussive guitar) originated from something called Flamenco. Take a look at maestro Paco De Lucia to get a flavor. Now, Flamenco, obviously, is played fingerstyle and chordal harmony as developed drastically over the years. It has amazing rhythmic aspects to it and also some fast lead playing. Still there wouldn't be playing rhythm and lead together. There is no instrument other than good ol' keys that does this dual thing better. Organs were a level up; you would play with all four limbs. Sometimes, hands played rhythm and legs played lead. At other times, the vice versa. I advise to listen some of Bach's Fugues' so as to get an understanding of this spectacular musicianship. That definitely does not make single clefed or 'only lead' and 'only rhythm' instruments inferior. It's just an amazing characteristic of a piano. ☮️

It amazes me how Marty Friedman used modes and altered scales to such great effect yet he didn't even know the notes on the guitar but for a few on the lower strings. His ear led him to all these cool sounds which set him apart of that generation. He also hit notes that were 'out of tune' but bent them creating beautiful slurs and phrasing.
Awesome job. Takes dedication and talent that I will only envy. It is kind of funny how this tune translates into almost an indecipherable phenom of classical and metal. What I mean is, if this were a piano concerto 150 years ago, it would have been considered a masterpiece.
The song itself isn't conceptually all that complex, it's like a theme and variations just riffing on a repeating chord progression for the first half, then riffing on two chordal vamps for the second half It is beautiful and the solos are all very virtuosic

Wow, really didn't expect you to attempt - let alone nail those solos. Massive thumbs up. I'm curious which solos you found more difficult to play. Dave's solo's are quick but tend to be riffing the same pentatonic shapes, but Marty's solos are just so damn complex and really add another dimension to those songs.
Thank you so much 🙂 Good question 😀 For me are more difficult the Dave's solos for the fast picking that I can't reproduce on piano... The Marty's solos are complex yes, but they have a "musicality" that fits better with piano for the melody and the structure. This is gust my opinion and what I feel 🙂 Have a nice day 🙂

Wow. Turning such a thrash song into a gentle classical piano tune really redefines how it feels. Btw, I duplicated my browsers and played the original and this version synced up. It's really fucking awesome.
hahahahah great :-) I play the piano over the original as metronome :-) on the final solo part I slowed a little bit 'couse I have no too much thecnique to paly at the original tempo 😅😂

Oh my god, that tempo & key change at 2:46 always sends a rush of blood in my head, every time! It sounds so amazing on piano as well! Great... actually awesome performance of the song on piano!!! *especially of those oriental, acrobatic solos by Marty.
@@dimkent6659 I say you a thing, Mustain solo's is more difficult to play on piano couse he use up and down picking fast, not playable with piano, Marty have much more musically on his solo's :)
@@AndreaVedorin for us guitarists Dave's solos are easier... while Marty's are not only more melodic or difficult, but also they are a GREAT inspiration!
