I don’t care what any of you say, Al will always be one of my favourite Megadeth guitarists. He played with as much passion as Marty. Granted his phrasing wasn’t as wonderful as Marty, but he’ll always hold a place in my heart.
Billy Russo I mean he’s definitely not the best out of their guitarrists and I agree that he does get too much hate but I think even Broderick was better than him
It’s like the soloing in Hangar 18 is the battle or whatever event happened to the Hangar, and then Return to Hangar is the Hangar in ruins. It’s so cool how it’s literally a storyline of music
@@ahmedbouhlel3382 it also sounded to me like he added a bunch of unnecessary flashy points in. Like I'm hearing a lot what Lars gets crap for in his playing
Hangar 18: Megadeth and other aliens getting bringed to Hangar 18. Return To Hangar: Megadeth and other aliens escaped Hangar 18 and they are now wanted all around the world.
Shubham Pradhan Jimmy D low-key doesn't play with passion like Menza and Dirk V have. He sounds a session player playing a cover. I'd rather have Shawn Drover over Jimmy D at least Shawn Drover stays in time even tho he stays in perfect time and may sound robotic at times cuss he plays directly on the beat.
@@gbirdo4718 yea bro ..may be..u can put ur opinion on what u prefer.. bt i would put degrasso above drover anyday..drover was decent too bt it gets boring to hear him aftr awhile..while i find much more dynamics in degrasso
@@shubhampradhan9151 Drover's beats were better, and he played his songs perfectly. At least he kept perfect timing. I don't like either of these drummers but DeGrasso was by far worse. Definitely the worst drummer in Megadeth history. I put keeping time over dynamics any day
Is it me or is Jimmy leading with his foot? I know a good amount of drummers do that but it just sounds different with Jimmy. His drumming during the solos on Return To Hangar is quite unique.
date if video may match release date, but concert was 2/3 days after 9/11! 2001. Air space across North America grounded! couldn't fly out for tour date from home in Phoenix Arizona so put on a how @ home arranged for it to be filmed. live album & video. gift for the fans after the " Rude Awakening" of September 11 2001! For those who missed the canceled shows and fans world wide. Not a date I'll ever forget!
In my opinion Broderick played megadeth solos perfectly. Poland is really good. Marty is very creative. Pitrelli is good but wasn't that great the same case of Glenn .Kiko is like a combination of both and the solos that he composed were very very fenomenal. I think Kiko is the best.
Poland had the best musical chemistry with Mustaine. But Broderick simply had no sense of dynamics, his solos are technical and incredibly skilled but he truly lacked punch. Kiko has amazing taste and adds so much flavour to Megadeth
Degrasso is like Broderick...full skill...Menza was a rock n roll drumner playing thrash....Pitrelli is a glam guitarrist playing thrash....I wonder Broderick, De Grasso, Ellefson and Megadave.....heaven....
you calling Menza a rock n roll drummer is comedy, check out his other projects from Chris Poland's fusion to Friedman solo work, very well rounded drummer
Jimmy D is rushing the verses. His double hits on the kick drum are too fast and not laid back enough like Menza does. I hate when people say Jimmy D is the best Megadeth drummer. He's not even in the top 3.
I'm not even sure i would put him above Chuck Behler (So far So Good) and he was basically their most basic drummer (in comparison to what came before and after (Gar and Nick)
Harsh Kumar sorry that's f****** horseshit! In my opinion, and assholes are like opinions everybody has one! :-) Metallica is a bunch of f****** sell-outs. I'm sorry, but they are... Megadeth, In Dave stay true! I've seen them six times, and they're awesome every time!
God. And the bitch fight begins. This universe doesnt give a fuck what you think who is better. Every atom moves in unison, and anybody saying metallica or megadeth is better wont change fucking shit.
Not that, just improvise something they have not done most of the guitarists who has had megadeth and I think that shows how versatile is the musician .. And excuse my English: D
I liked this lineup, Al Patriel is underrated player and Jimmy is amazing drummer, it doesn’t matter if the solo has to be the same, all that matters is a lead, you can say that Al screwed up the solos on classic megadeth songs but at least he can play with feeling and he did his own solos, Glen Drover was the worst player megadeth chose to be their lead player, Chris Broderick copy’s Marty Friedman too much and doesn’t put any feeling and Jimmy is a way better drummer than Shawn Drover, Shawn Driver has no creativity and energy, he can play but he’s lazy and doesn’t add anything memorable
Kick @ss song!!!!I really liked this line up, even than Menza was the classic.drummer Degrasso is for me the best Megadeth ever had. And I also really liked Pitrelli, a great guitarrist, he played the solos really well with his own style.
In my opinion Broderick played megadeth solos perfectly. Poland is really good. Marty is very creative. Pitrelli is good but wasn't that great the same case of Glenn .Kiko is like a combination of Marty and Broderick and the solos that he composed were very very fenomenal. I think Kiko is the best.
Might be an auto or rack mounted wah. Those are usually controlled by dynamics in your playing (picking style, attack, etc) I don't really like them, but maybe Dave used one since it's really just for this song.
@@b3fr1enderbetr4yer8 Most likely yes. But it is also possible that his tech may have a regular wah backstage. I know Kirk Hammett's tech has a remote for his on stage wah in case Kirk walks away and forgets to turn it off. Don't know how it would work to actually use a wah that way but it is technically possible. I'm just gonna go with the easy answer of rack wah instead tho
Anyone know how he got that killer lead tone pls, Amps, pre-amps or even how to dial em in, Sounds just like Marty tone wise. Pls no troll smartass answers.
***** Good stuff. I got the idea, do you know what amps he's using?, When I saw Marty with Megadeth we couldn't see the backline very well but I went with a friend who new the support bands guitarist Mark Mynett (Kill II This) and their sound engineer. He said Marty and Mustaine were using Sansamp Psa1 preamps, I don't know if that's what they use Live all the time, I got no other information about settings ect.. I'm using a ART SGX 2000 at the moment but the Tube section stopped working for some reason so I'm stuck with the inferior sound of the solid state section and can't get anywhere near that Marty tone,It's all fizzy and not nice to play through. I'm looking out for a low priced used preamp that sounds nice like marty's lead tone but It's really hard to come by these days.. cheers:)
I believe Marty used a blue voodoo amp when he was in Megadeth.. he cranks his midst and he lowers his gain to a low number like 2, 3, or 4. But Marty sounds the way he does because of his style. It's in his hands and the way he holds his pick. That's why his sound is hard to mimic
+Mickeyslowd I know Dave uses Marshall stuff. JVM410H through his signature 1960DM cabs. I think that's his more recent setup, though, like from the last decade or so.
I couldn’t tell you what his settings are, but Friedman used a crate BV300HB for a lot of his tenure of megadeth. It’s the only guitar (tube) amp I’ve seen over 120 Watts. (It’s 300) I think the Randall (dimebag) warhead? Is 300 also but it’s SS. Hope this helps. Blue voodoo amps were probably the best amp crate ever produced....they’re just highly overpriced and heavy af (80lbs/36kg)
If you want more background on Jimmy Degrasso, he performed for he was a drummer for Suicidal Tendencies and was also Alice Cooper's drummer through most of the 90's
