@@efebayraktar4431 Nice attempt, troll. Also, Mustaine himself admitted Chris Poland played 'circles around him' on guitar. Putting Hammett and Poland in the same sentence is a crime against the metal gods.
JAMES HETFIELD ......?.... get real you Fucken Pissy little brat BAHAHAHAHA!!! To try and mention any one of those hacks from that pop metal mainstream radio Bullshit Band compared to either of these guys..? is a joke
I agree 100x over! Sometimes, I imagine how things would be if Poland's index finger worked like his other fingers do. I can't help but notice that he has more strength and dexterity in his pinky and ring finger than I do with all my functioning digits. He also inspires me (more than any other guitarist) to pick it up and play right now, the dude has way to much fun on that instrument for me to sit around very long and not try to play outside of my usual box, lol. Poland is undoubtedly underrated!
You’ve got to watch a video of Poland explaining his playing style and technique and just watch his hands, could be mimicked, but has to be near on impossible to replicate. Crazily talented, never hear him talked about in the guitar world. Such a shame.
Crazy Poland's solo are just motoring; Insane passages and tone just ripping it up. Mustaine's of course are agressive, fiery, and powerful. Both have great contrast making this album one of the all time greatest.
He also plays with great tone. You know it is him. For example "Peace Sell but who's buying" is a guitar masterpiece. You can easily distinguishe his solos to Mustaine's who also rips, and brought Jazz muscians like Gar and Chris aboard to achieve just that:-0!
Yeah, Friedman is incredible. I don't see Broderick to be in the same league as far as origiality then Poland and Friedman. However, Mustaine insists that he is the greatest player they ever had. Some of Mustain's solos do get redundant. He plays mostly in a pentaninc pattern , but has incredible texdarity allows him to do some really wide stretches. His solo in "Holy Wars" is a monster. "Wake up Dead" also has some of his great solos, especially the classical sounding bit during the Mosh part. He plays with so much balls and agression.
Absolutely, but this album was classic. The way Chris incorporated his jazz influence into his playing was incredible. Every other Guitarist after Poland all had great admiration to his unique style and said it was very hard to duplicate. Marty I thought also was tremendous. Jeff Young, Pitrelli, Drover, and Chris Broderick all are very talented but never had the same impact I thought as Poland and Friedman.
i love how on the wakeup dead it goes from daves sloppy raw sound and then imediatly u just get transfered into polands flawless clean beauty. so fucking good
@Mister Problematic Mustaine is sloppier compared to Poland, but mostly your hearing his pick. Dave prefers having a percussive element to his picking. His solo in good mourning/black Friday is pretty smooth.
@@CalebePriester Part of the "secret" is in the reverb and how he uses it to extend note length in a "ghostly" way. Pay attention if you haven't and you'll notice what I'm saying. It's the difference between average sounding and total muse. Many players would have held notes longer ignoring the verb instead of letting the verb enhance it and do its job. Another thing with this one is that he lets that long verb fill spaces where he may have otherwise put another note are repeated the same one. Essentially a type of ghost note. One of my favorite leads ever!
Chris Poland has to be one of the most underrated guitarists in metal history. He absolutely tears it up on this album! Black Friday solo is ridiculous!
@El señor de la tienda Actually they were both fired. But I've often wondered what would have happened had they not both been hardcore junkies. It would have been scary to think how sick the music would have been.
This is my opinion their best lineup. Raw, aggresive, fast, and loud. Powerful to say the least. The solos are so ripping on both Mustaine and Poland's parts. You can hear the pick just blazing throught the passages, simply mindblowing. Back then their wasn't that much tasty soloing in thrash, this album was an exception.
@@jaumvituu3500 This Lineup was classic. Rust in Peace no doubt was an incredible lineup as well, but the rawness, aggression, hunger, and talent from all over I feel made this lineup so uniquic.
I miss this line up.. Man,this was the best thing since sliced bread in a can(wait, was that ever invented?)... But this was just the rawest Megadeth ever.... And technical as fuck
Chris was really let down by production. His tone wasn't ideal on this album and didn't showcase him properly. Can't help but notice Dave is also MUCH louder in the mix....but that's typical a typical Dave decision.
It's funny how the dudes you watch often end up in the same comment sections as yourself, it's always so interesting to see first-hand how despite how big RU-vid is, and how big the Metal community is, we all seem to end up in the same places.
The best megadeth combo IMO. Dave is raw energy, rough round the edges but totally engaging; Chris on the other hand is a pure silk gliding over the fretboard, so cool and totally mesmorising. Its a shame they only managed one album together. That being said , Jeff Young does some good work on SFSGSW.
The Bounder Chris did the Killing is my Business and the Peace Sells Album .... he came back in the 2000’s and did The System has Failed , With Megadeth .... you sound confused but now you know
this line up was thrash, not heavy metal, thrash at its very very best..... poland was the man... gar was to megadeth what lombardo was to slayer, fucking awsome...
@@warrengauthier4699 its his opinion dude, you can disagree with it, but you can't change it. You also have your opinion, as you just said. I agree with the comment bellow, but i also respect yours.
They are both so different ...but both so expressive in their own way...Dave may not be as technical ...but he always nails the vibe...and Chris Poland holy shit!!
Both are very underrated players, Chris is absolutely underrated and Dave is a far greater solo player than many give him credit for. There is the proof right there.
You have to give Mustaine credit his solos are interesting, varied and pretty technical for someone of his age considering he was drunk /stoned or whatever. Poland is much smoother though...
Whenever a future Megadeth guitarist tries to play a Chris solo it just doesn't sound right at all. Only Poland himself can recreate the magic! Dave is also fantastic

I think that the first real line up-Dave, Junior, Poland, and Gar were musically more aggressive musically and more focused on proving themselves as a band so to say. Meanwhile, the Rust In Peace lineup was more about being melodic being compositionally dense. When describing Megadeth albums, Aggressive is the first word that comes to mind when I hear Peace Sells..., and dense when referring to Rust In Peace. I find that 'dense' fits best because the arrangements are the most complex across the board in metal, but complex sounds too 'proggy' / 'nerdy' (prog is not nerdy). I officially coined 'dense' as an adjective for RIP, so if anyone else uses it, they must cite me as a source.
Id say the only thing they were focused on was getting high and doing drugs, if they had any focus the line up wouldnt have fallen apart, then again dave is a cocksucker and is incapable of holding a steady lineup or hanging onto band members
Wow!Dave solos are perfect!Especially Wake up dead and My last words shredder! But I like chris solos too.Peace sells and 80's Megadeth albums are so underretad they are musical thrash metal bombs!
Poland is so tasteful. The legato is so clean and the bends are so epic/unique. Dave getting two lead players as unique as Poland and Marty is like 1/1,000,000,000 chance.
yeah i know, many people knows and say that dave is not so good with solos but listen to the music he play on this solos,it's kind of dark heavy metal it's so unique. anyway all solos in this album are amazing, and my favorite the last solo of ''Good mourning black friday.
Hearing these isolated tracks makes me feel a lot better about when I'm playing alone without the music and how it sounds. No doubt these guys are good but it really shows how the solo is tailored precisely for the musical accompaniment.
Definetly Megadeths top soloing..My favourite has to be Mustaines last solo on this video, My last words. The whole album is a masterpiece, a thousand times better than anything Metallica brought out!
This was actually my first time listening to Chris Poland and I wasn't sure if this guy was all that at first but now I underestimated myself, he is really great but I'm still learning more about the guy, so any favorite solo or live performance you guys have of this Chris guy? I was always a big fan of like Marty Friedman and Kiko and yeah they're both good definitely can't compare but I just need to check out Poland.
tbh i think he’s a bit overrated, however good mourning black friday intro solo is one of megadeth’s greatest achievements literally just listen to the song and the first 3 or 2 solos dave does after it’s weird he doesn’t play like that in his other solos. less is sorta more with chris poland ig.
@@blunderless right, chris didn't have a very long career with megadeth did he? what did he even do after that? did he ever make other music? solo projects? anything?
@@зот he did a few other projects but i think my only problem he plays very noodle-y. although i doubt many could noodle like him for as long as he did peace sells outro solo was pretty strong. i'd say peace sells and good mourning intro were his best.
Is it weird to state that, at some moments, you can hear some Eric Johnson influence in Poland's playing? Apart from that, Poland's playing is absolutely incredible and clean! No wonder one can hear the jazz seeping through his playing
Just incrediable. My 80’s late teen age self was into this record when it came out and it tests the time. All that shit I loved was amazing then and now. I got Ozzy first two for Christmas. Randy !! Chris and randy I can just kick back and listen to the solos. When I was 13 I made via record a cassette witg all Randy’s solos. Didn’t get much into megadeth after this. Sure a few Songs but this was a peak for me. Poland.
I feel like this is the album where they did the best job trading solos between Dave and the second guitarist. The records with Marty, Dave ended up just kind of having Marty play the majority of the solos. But on this one, Dave and Chris were really ripping as a tandem.
Dave is such an incredible lead player. Chris' solos are amazing but there's something I really love about Dave's style in the first 6 albums especially.
Kiko - Just an amazing guitarist nothing extremely special tho Marty - amazing technique and melody Chris B. - too much technique not a lot of soul Chris P. - Soul, technique, melody everything just fantastic
Poland is god tier & ridiculously clean , it's pretty cool how Dave's chaotic choppy style fits seamlessly into the grand scheme of things it almost gives his leads a rhythmic edge.
Dave's solo on 'My last words' put shiver down my spine. He sounded possessed and like a lunatic. It's so sloppy, in parts you can barely hear what notes he's hitting, but at the same time it sounds glorious
Dave's solo's have a bluesy tone and feel, kinda like Tony Iommi/Leslie West and Chris has such a compressed sound, reminds me of John McLaughlin's tone on the first Mahavishnu album but his playing is all it's own and he owns it IMO
Chris Poland plays technically soo much better than Dave. But Dave is chaotic and his ideas are out of the box it makes up for the articulation gap between the two, it is a really nice contrast.
