Adler is going to be the best Drummer Megadeth has had since Menza.. You'll do great Chris we all have the highest respect for you are your a very welcome addition to the Megadeth line-up. Great time to be a Megadeth fan! \m/ \m/
Moonchild _dbk Supercollider was a good record.. But only a good record. Dave recently was asked what line up this new one reminds him of and he said the 3rd one and what album it sounds like and he said it sounds like a blend of Peace Sells and Rust... Nuff said. Megadeth produce what they want to produce.. They would be boring like Slayer if they just made Peace Sells over and over again.. I welcome different flavours of record from time to time. I really like Risk its massively underrated.
+Luke Lewis I agree.. specially for your toughs on Slayer .. great career, big influence, great riffs but nothing new from Seasons in the Abyss .. don t get me wrong Mustaine i a real shredder. I hope he will deliver great LP
Hearing his work in Dystopia, I'm not complaining that he's in (I actually think the addition of him and Kiko have made for the best lineup since the Friedman days)
Great interview! Lot's of info sharing with us. I really like Chris style of interviewing. So friendly and polite. About Chris, only good memories from LOG and so happy to listen his drumming on Megadeth.
Congrats on this awesome gig, Chris. As a long time Megadeth fan I will say that Fatal Illusion sounded like 'my Megadeth'! Cant wait to hear the rest. The Dave's definitely improved the band by picking you up! Good Luck & see you on tour!
Very wise of Dave getting this guy in for fresh idea's and tuning hinself into what is going on in the modern day of metal. Pretty onto it Dave good stuff.
awesome interview....really starting to dig this Chris Adler guy...although I am a drummer and Megadeth have meant alot to me all of my life as well..he's a lucky guy
Chris seems like such an awesome dude and even though my favourite line up will always be Nick and Marty I wish Chris the best and I'm super excited to hear the new stuff! \m/
THANK YOU CHRIS!!! YOU ARE ONE OF THE BEST DRUMMERS THERE ARE!!! I LOVE LAMB OF GOD AND MEGADETH!!! BUT YOU ARE BY FAR THE BEST MEGADETH DRUMMER!!! THEY NEEDED YOU!!!!
Chris Adler is cool. When I first got into metal, I went to a show with a friend of mine in PA that featured bands like lamb of god, every time i die, a life once lost, the minor times, all else failed, some others i can't remember at the moment, and me and my friend were hanging out out back havin a cig (neither of us even smoke anymore) and this guy came up to us and was just like hey guys whats up, enjoying the show? and started making small talk and i had just gotten into metal and wasn't really familiar with lamb of god to be honest, i was just going because my friends cousin was buddies with the guys in life once lost who we met before the show and smoked with and drank with, etc... , anyway this guy is like "who are you guys here for" and we're like 'well life once lost but pretty much everybody cause we like em all. then i asked him who he was there to see. and he said "well im in lamb of god so i guess us" hahaha. To this day I will never forget that story. For this guy to come up to a couple of us kids (probably like 19 or 20 at the time)) and just start small talking with us shows just how humble and cool he is. I also met all the guys in megadeth on the youthasia tour when i was a kid, probably 14 or 15, my dad had paid for backstage passes. they were all really cool. So it's really awesome to see these guys unite. Chris, you are a cool dude and of the hundreds of shows ive been to now, ive never experienced a band member so casual and nice. (once i met dez from coal chamber and i had to seek him out and he was a total dismissive asshole) Cheers! (sorry for the long post guys, this interview just reminded me how awesome he is lol)
Chris is and always was my idol as a drummer . I heard that first LOG album and I think I went home every daythat year and said I was gonna learn to play the way Chris Adler does, and I still cant haha but he taught me double kicks and whithout him I wouldn't be half the drummer iam today . Ive never listenened to any other metal again since hearing Lamb of God it was all I ever needed perfect to me in every way the way him and willie work together is genious one of a kind . hands down my no 1 drummer ever for me it s Chris 1 then Neal hhaha seriously thanks man your rad wish I could of seen you live but someone was in jail and something that never shoulda happened happened and I missed the show I had tiockets I was devastated , my fav band and I aint seen em live I got friends who have like 6 times one day I will somehow I will . ashes of the wake I heard that the first time heaviest album ive ever heard that's actually listenable ,, I hate that blast beats scremo every thing the same dimmmu borger stuff personally I like melodic metal he is very melodic .. so there I oputmy opinion down for once whats really cooli is hes just a down to earth humble no ego no bs type of guy ... fuck dave mustaine anyways
I am a huge Megadeth fan. I really liked Lamb of God before the "Adler experiment". Saw them first on Gigantour and they blew me away. Saw them again shortly after. I will see every show Chris Adler does in my neighborhood. Love this dude. Wish Dave would listen to the "my megadeth sounds like". MY Megadeth sounds like Good Mourning Black Friday. Lets see how it goes...
The new album is sick for those who haven't checked it out, Adler did a great job, I really enjoy The Threat is Real, Dystopia, Conquer or Die, and the Budgie cover. I give thumbs up.
I don't know much about Chris, but he seems to have a super chill personality. And his drumming definitely brought some energy into Dave's playing. Can't wait for Dystopia
man when he joined he band and I heard the live shows in youtube I really thought this was the guy. he brought so much new energy and a different perpective to the music itself, something I don't really see or hear with Dirk in the drums
Adler is going to bring a dynamic that Megadeth has never had menza was the best they ever did have but Adler is definitely going to top that his double bass and his Tempo changes are going to be amazing for them and he a very solid drummer good luck to you
I know how Chris Adler got into Megadeth. He's hands-down the *sickest* drummer in metal, if not in rock music in any form, just beyond a badass. If Yngwie was a drummer, he'd be Chris Adler, or vice versa....
***** Had to do it, didn't you? Had to send me on a quest that I knew would only end with me having to go to the ER and get my damn foot removed from....well, you get the idea. I still say Adler's the greatest BUT ain't no way (that's *no way*) I'd argue this point because I just got done watching Mounier rehearsing Phobophile and all I can say is "GAWDAYYUM!" This is what happens when half-assed guitar players start talkin' sh*t about drummers (me being the half-assed guitar player)...
GamerDares wins yeah, since I posted this I've been quite well educated that I don't know shyt about tier-one metal drummers. Sometimes, gotsta take the L...but I still Chris Adler's a beast! Just not necessarily the *beastiest* beast on the riser (half-assed guitar player, remember?😏)
+TheGraveyardDog He actually speaks fluently english, italian, portuguese and finish or some nordic language... so no your comment has clearly no funds whatsoever :)
@@luvaholic or you an interpreter, most people DONT speak english, and i dont make public youtube videos nor im a public figure, so i do not need a translator.
Quick answer to the titled question-I’m in Megadeth because my brother and ex band brothers stabbed me in the back after I was injured on a motorscooter and needed extended time to heal.
A very interesting and insightful interview. Some of his mid-interview comments kind of remind me of what Frank Zappa did... Dave apparently recorded most *everything*; Zappa has four vaults of pretty much *everything* he recorded; Dave knows his 'catalog' intimately... [and I refer to what little I have cataloged as "raw material" for future use -- one cannot have too may planks of wood or sawed-off pieces of PVC, can they, in a good workshop?]... speeding up or slowing things down. :) I see [oddly enough] strong parallels to Frank, which is, indeed, a *huge* compliment to Dave... I admire that, *greatly*. I also admire the clear, articulate and candid nature of Adler too. No doubt. A man on top of his game. That deserves tons of respect too. I'm glad to hear that he was a *vital* contributor to Megadeth and not just a 'hired musician' that had the chops. That must have been truly exciting and a rewarding part of his career. Kudos.
Mustaine allowed you to change something...really?! Shit, maybe there's still a chance for Megadeth...Rust In Peace II(or something as good...I hope). I think Chris and Shawn leaving was a wake up call for Mustaine. If Metallica and Megadeth both release a solid album, I'll be fucking happy!
Anyone who brings good music in can get it used.. Drover and Broderick didn't bring anything worthwhile.. Broderick is a terrible soloist nothing catchy or rememberable about his work with the band at all. Nothing stand out from Drover either.. So the only wake up call Dave got was that he needed better musicians in the band so he doesn't have to do all the writing himself every time. Though it's clear that Ellefson has stepped up his written parts on this album to so it's much more like the early days dynamic again now the dead weights gone.
Luke Lewis Dude, Dave's been trying to compete with Metallica for years. Everytime they did something different, he tried to do the same thing, but failed(except for Rust in Peace...that was brilliant). Endgame was actually a solid album, for the first few songs and that's where Chris Broderick's solos shone through. Thirt3en suddenly went in the opposite direction and then Super Collider...well, that was all Dave and the reason why Shawn and Broderick left afterwards. Dave said he did that album because radio stations said his music wasn't radio friendly and he wanted to prove them wrong. Dave got a wake up call because this time he didn't fire anyone...they just left. PS: I remember all Chris' solos from Endgame and that usually doesn't happen because I consider most solos generic.
Cant say it enough, dynamics man, people who only sit down and play to backing tracks and solos all day long rather than sustain a good not every once in a while is bound to get the "robo-guitarist" stamped on them, and no guitarist ever has gotten more respect than somone that makes his own unique sound and feel. Those notes only being pressed and played like a piano is really cool and all but its the feeling that the guitarist needs to think about when portraying his sound, not how technical and fast you are. Broderick brought sumn pretty cool to megadeth but was definitely not a megadeth sound or feel when they hired him, he needs to do sumn for himself his own project, thats where he will shine. Its like if Dave asked Yngvie Malmsteen lol like hell to the no. well damn who knows what could happen with that but you get the point.. Malmsteen did what he needed to do cuz he thought he was "too good" for hire and probably didnt compliment the rest of the band half the time. One more thing though, Marty Needs to come back, thats all there is to it but he wont do it so to me this looks like an amazing line up and pretty damn surprising!
John Fish If all that's true then why does Kirk Hammett get the most flak when it comes to his playing. He makes a couple of mistakes here and there during live shows and even the solos he's written, but people act as though he screwed up the band from the beginning. Chris Broderick's playing never really got past Endgame. Dave took the extensive solos away on the two albums that followed. Chris added a more modern feel to the music, whereas Dave wanted to stay back in the 80's...which can be heard on Thirt3en. I think if Chris were allowed to contribute more, he could've made a difference. Shawn Drover was the robot of the band. Who couldn't even play Menza's parts without having to ommit certain key chops, and overall his playing is lifeless.
DoomPowerMetal Nah if Broderick had anymore say in Megadeth it would have turned into shit. He doesn't have more than 3 stand out solos.. He was given full rain on solos unless they didn't fit the song. Kiko has already proven to be a better contributor than Broderick ever was. Dave made a passing comment once that he would constantly ask Broderick down to play guitar together and that he could probably count on his hand how many times he actually did.. Where as with Kiko he's already lost count how many times he's turned up or asked himself to play some guitar.. Its already proving to be a better relationship.
