Personally, i think that dave mustaine's guitar playing is very technical, complex and chaotic. His solos are incredibly aggressive and technical at the same time. I mean even And Justice for All which the critics claim as the most technical and progressive thrash metal album recorded by Metallica pales in comparison when it is compared to 'Killing is my business...And business is good" or "Peace sells...But who's buying it''. Although Megadeth enjoys a very high reputation, i still think that Megadeth is highly underrated by the music critics.
Dave's Solos arent technical, maybe his early days before his arm injury, yes. But most of his solos are the same style, you can tell when the lead and rhythm guitars switch during solos because its so noticeable. Im a huge Megadeth fan its what molded me, But chaotic is a good word for his guitar playing, its almost as if he wants to sound "fast", so he will smash chords to start the madness going. i.e. KIMB riff is insane, it sounds like jibberish. In Riff making, Dave is a God, and the fact that he does all this shit while singing is hard to grasp.
Well, Metallica song formula is what makes them sounds like really progressive but they're not. Also, their "copy & paste" section formula is what makes them sounds progressive but their riffing itself is never progressive and technical. After mid section they always comes back and play the first half of song again so most of their songs has a longer length. For intense, if Master of puppets is Megadeth song, it would have ended after the mid section but Metallica loves to repeat it from the intro all over again. Majority of songs in Megadeth early albums (even some of their later stuff) doesnt have part or section that being repeated. Dave tend to avoid going back to previous section of the song. Just listen to Wake up dead, Hangar 18, Mary Jane, Ashes in your mouth , Holy wars, Tornado of souls, Rust in peace, Five magics, Take no prisoners, The skull beneath the skin, The conjuring, Looking down the cross, Black friday, Blackmail the universe, Burnt ice, Poison was the cure,Headcrusher , Bad omen, Fatal illussion, Lying in state , Vortex, etc.
Ohh have ever heard about two guys Jef and Kerry? Literally they made real thrash metal. When I hear or read the comments such as “mustaine created thrash metal” - did you hear thrash metal in your life?
It's the most complex guitar wise album they ever made. Most megadeth fans were introduced to them during the countdown to extinction era so they think it's the best line up. The original line up is the best though, they originated that unique sound that later lineups built upon
@@jlobiafra Totally agree, although for me his best album is Rust in Peace, these first two albums are not far behind, they could easily be on the same level. These dudes created the wave of technical Thrash Metal, and they dont have the recognition they deserve according to me
@@mafasah98 I still prefer peace sells over rust but that's just me. Chris poland and gars created that unique jazz quality I had never heard incorporated into thrash. Rust in peace kicks ass too
This is why Mustaine blows my mind. He's playing the rythm and singing at the same time. It's BONKERS! Also the 7 down votes are obviously jealous trolls, you rock!
@@matthewmartinez3596 Well, there are still drugs like cocaine that awaken all your senses to the fullest, so if he was under that substance he probably didn't even think about what he was doing, he just did it xd
@@branimirs You could really make an argument between their first 4 albums about which one takes the cake. Peace Sells is great, SFSGSW is great, my personal favorite, and Rust In Peace as well..
Here I am on another one of your videos, late to the party by more than 2 years, and I am absolutely blown away. You are a wonderful talent. Keep it up!!! \m/
+Dave Mustaine I think my next cover will be a Symphony X or Death or Sylosis or Warbringer cover or smth along those lines ;) Done enough Megadeth covers lately :D
At some point could you maybe do "Set the World Afire"? or "Into the Lungs of Hell"? I know you've done a lot of Megadeth covers lately, but I mean whenever you can would be great! Nice cover btw! :D
Very mean tone! Nice! This cover makes me understand what Mustaine really meant when he said that he wasted a lot of great riffs on this album. The guitar on its own is great, but the overall mix and production job doesn't do the whole deal justice!
'Speedballs' apparently. As Junior put it, "It was great! The heroin helped you come down off the cocaine. We forgot that everyone died from it. We forgot that part."
Dude, you are one of the best Thrash guitarists on youtube, so I have to ask of you this, since I'm not sure anyone else can do it: Can you play Khomaniac by Artillery? One of the best thrash songs, but sadly NO ONE on youtube has covered it (well).
+kurzackd Hey! First, thanks for the recommendation, didn't know anything from Artillery yet and it sounds pretty cool ;) Maybe I'll look into it in the future, but I can't promise anything yet Have a nice day!
+Ristridi Cheers mate! I really recommend their entire "By Inheritance" album. They're very underappreciated and generally not well-known to the world. I'm pretty sure you can appreciate its thrashiness + melody. cheers.
