Something people DONT appreciate about Youthanasia is that the entire album was recorded live, together... as a band... no individual performance tracks stitched together later
Youthanasia might have not found its true reputation because that Megadeth being a thrash band but, it's a solid album. This is similar to Load/Reload album comparisions of Metallica. R.I.P. for sure is their best yet Youthanasia beats the scene with its simplistic beauty with solos, harmonic fills of Marty and some bunch of heavy/unique verse riffs.
Used to watch this on VHS over and over learning how they would write and record music. I learnt to also appreciate what Nick brought to the band and what a commanding drummer he was. And I fell in love with that red gold hardware Jackson King V
Youthansia is such a badass album. Hard rock with heavy metal combine. Reminds me Alice In Chains, sound garden but with a Megadeth sound. Also the raw sound because they played it together sounds so heavy and clean. Definitely a album that gets better each time you listen. Wish they stuck to a sound like this instead of going radio rock with cryptic writings.
This is my favorite Megadeth CD's & one of my favorite CD's period. He hit the perfect combination of brutality & melody with very thoughtful lyrics. It's very personal. I think it's Dave's best work. Thanks for posting.
One of my favorite Deth records man! Really appreciate the opportunity to check this out most likely would've never gotten the chance to anywhere else! Dave Mustaine is a personal hero of mine. I'm trying to make something similar happen with my own career, as far as writing a heavy record myself then hiring musicians to tour with. Gonna be killer but so much respect for this dude and this band. He literally went through hell to get where he is. Really inspiring and motivational story and the music speaks for itself.
The first time I heard Youthanasia I wasn't really "open" to it, like some of my now favorite albums, but after listening to it once I kinda put it aside. When I seen this "VHS" I bought it and went home and watched it and thought it was very interesting and entertaining. So all in all I actually watched the making of the album before actually giving it a fair shake and now it's one of my favorite Megadeth album's. It brings me back 15 good years ago. Thanks for posting all these Addiction 747.
One of the best cds ever. Im so happy to have the original cd in my collection =] along with the original Countdown, Crpytic and The World Needs A Hero. I wish Dave wound't have "remastered" his masterpieces into crap. I love Rust In Peace but it doesn;'t feel the same. Only cd needed remastering was Killing Is My Businesss
Thanx 4 this! Dig it! However, The 'Peace sells' Is my #1 listened to album. I have listened to it hundreds of times. Facinating piece of music. Never heard anything like it before or since. My #2 would be Floyd's Dark side of the moon. So in my book; You guy's are in quite august company.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU !
what for? they did one for Rust in Peace, they do it for every CD. just record new stuff. I still think it would be cool if Marty was back in the band, BUT he said he wouldn't ever join again & sees no need to.
Youthanasia may be commercial (I dont think so) but it's one of my av albums. Thank you so much for uploading this! I wish I could press the LIKE button more than once now.
does anyone know what song it is they play at 4:23 to aprox 5:14 ??? i´ve tryed to listen very carefully too youthanasia , but i can´t figur it our what song it is
Songs like New World Order, Millennium of the Blind, We the people (riffs) are from Youthanasia era... and then Black Swan from UA and Sudden Death was made for Guitar Hero, some of Th1rt3en was a copilation album, great album for me
I still dont know how they orchestrate songs over previously recorded/separate video to be in sync. The 2 nail gun hits with Nick's snair. They didnt even alter the speed of the video for it. Maybe im wrong. Any thoughts?
The more megadeth videos that I watch w/Dave and his past band members, especially this dream team I just cannot understand anyone can critcize their music and Dave's personality..What is Not to Like!!?? ps also people like to talk shit about Dave's singing
I had them in my ipod....but it got restored & synced -_- so im putting everything up again...& this i must as well......I love it & IT'S SO FUNNY :V & YOUTHANASIA is on my top albums :v
@livesontrial I can't remember the exact facts, but he has HAD a school HAS a school or is planning on making one, but I read this in a metal magazine, and I was like WHAT? THAT'S AWESOME! so it's actually possible!
I wonder if he was sober during this. Being a recovering alcoholic/drug addict myself, Im always happy to hear about people getting sober, etc...but I also am curious because he was on a roller-coaster for years. It's not like he drank/did drugs for 18 years, then quit. He used, quit, used, quit, used, quit. Went to treatment 15 times. I'm watching their behind the music, said he got sober enough in summer of 1993 to tour. Then couple months later he relapsed again. So he was using at the end of 1993
Good album, however was already pointing out Megadeth were abandoning complex Thrash riffs for more mainstream sounds...Prequel to what Cryptic Writings would be.
