Marty Friedman said in 2002, "When I finished the solo to this one, Mustaine came into the studio, listened to it down once, turned around and without saying a word, shook my hand. It was at that moment that I felt like I was truly the guitarist for this band."
That's funny since his work with Jason becker in cacophony completely eclipses this solo. *Prepare for the crying in the comments below because people couldnt handle my opinion. cmdrdredd literally shit himself over it and the rest of the toddlers got mad as well. If you cant handle other people's opinions then get off youtube.*
@@yoteslaya7296glad you missed the point. I swear everyone on the internet is brain dead and interjects their own BS into something that is completely a different topic.
@@iammegafred maybe playing it tuned down to D threw him a off a a bit. I think it sounds strange, hearing the old songs in that tuning, doesn't fit in my opinion. I personally find it difficult to play songs in different tunings, when I used to play them in another tuning for years.
I love the fact that when the solo came, the other guys quickly gathered in the back, leaving Marty upfront. It shows the respect for Marty, almost saying " Hey man, that's your time to shine " kind of a deal.
have you seen them playing Countdown to Extinction in 3 guitars? that was damn excellent! I think its time for Dave Mustaine consider having 3 guitars haha!
@@JuniorColanzi Well, Maiden and Helloween are slaying it with a 3 guitar attack, so Megadeth can definitely do it. Its really down to whether there's the will and desire for that on the parts of Dave and Marty.
Ditto, but this is really just for both parties to get the best of both worlds. Dave because it's bringing Marty back along with his massive following in Japan, Marty because he gets to play songs he helped define, gets paid I'd assume a sizable amount and he gets to play massive festivals again. At the end of the day, everyone goes home and there isn't much commitment after that.
Saw this solo played live during an european tour while back, in a small pub I was 3 meters away from him. I will never forget that gig, 10€ for experiencing Marty so intimately like he was playing in your living room. And about the solo, needless to say the emotion felt unreal, indescribable power. Legendary.
Holy, fucking, shit!! Would I have loved to be there, daaaaaamn! Marty Friedman showing who is the boss, the class and character of that just blew the roof off!!!
It's just lovely how all the 3 join the drummer and leave the stage's forefront for the greatest Metal guitar solo EVER to be performed by its creator.
You forgot the Hetfield and Hammett duo lol. They have the catalogue of both quantity and quality. More so than the names you throw around.... even more than the Young bros.
Marty shows what a musician is all about: playing with your heart, feeling the moment, changing even the way you play or the solo a little. That's how it used to be back in the 70s and 80s, when bands like Deep Purple would take a 5 minute track and play it live totally changed for 10 minutes. That's artistry! If you want to hear it as is on the album, stay home and listen to that.
@@kichkandi734 Security guard. My friend said he saw Guns n Roses in 1990 in San Diego, same scenario, as a security guard at the stage. -Back turned to the band unfortunately.
That's always been Marty's favorite solo. He plays it in his live shows with his current band. Looks like he was having a blast to play it again sharing the stage with Dave!
There have been several instances where Dave reached out to Marty to re-join, but Marty wanted more concessions than Dave was comfortable with giving him. A few specific examples he brought up was having a say in the songwriting and first class air travel @miautonuevo
Two absolute monster guitarist who have every reason in the world to impose their egos on the band, yet Marty and Kiko are as humble as can be. True artists of their cause.
he deserves it, I had the chance to hear them at wacken and the band was boring to be honest, then Marty came out and changed the hole vibe so quickly that I didn't even notice he joined the show, it was like "woooooow wtf just happened? OH! MARTY DID JOIN THEM!!!"
It took a couple of three decades, but megadave finally learned how to interact with other people. He genuinely stepped back to support one of the best solos in metal.
Compared to the toned down version I've seen in recent Megadeth videos as of late, Marty adds a much needed exciting dynamic to the band and it seems to be rubbing off on Daves performance and he is and always will be a master shredder. 🤘🎸🥁🎛️
Dave and Marty together always reminded me of Good Will Hunting when the professor(Dave) says to Will(Marty), "There are only a handful of people in the world that can tell the difference between us, but I'm one of them."
If It aint with Lombardo its not Slayer. If its not with Joey…it aint Anthrax….and if Marty aint there with all the hair….it aint Megadeth. Rust in Peace over everything 🔥🤘🏾😆🤘🏾🔥 THIS IS MY DECREE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
Mustaine would broke the metal world if he announce a three guitar megadeth with the best of marty and kiko playing together. Some music would sound perfect with 3 guitars
Kiko say in a podcast: I just arrived, they gave me the guitar, I went up on stage and played twenty songs. Everything worked. it was a great job, but I missed a perrengue. Perrengue: characteristic of difficult, which is not easy: it is necessary to face the difficulties of life.
I like how four verses of song was allowed for him just to shred shred Shred. Maybe the best metal solo I've ever heard. He just didn't use pyrotechnics to be flashy: br made sure to do some double stop string bends for some soul feeling.
I remember I learned this song way back in 2010. It was many years later I had the courage to post a video though. Then in 2010 I got to see them during the 20 year anniversary of rust in peace tour. I wish I could turn back time.
