Fighting Mario and Luigi would be the single hardest thing in any Undertale game ever, hands down.

Knowing the complete absurdity bros attacks can be, and that on average playthroughs both their LV is higher than Frisk/Chara can ever get to, with a body count spanning 35 years of essentially war with Bowser, and other games for each bro to back it up. This child's in for a battle far worse than Sans could ever be. In regards to Chara, leave it up to Luigi the ghost catcher of 3 games, likely putting them in a painting. So long as E.Gadd doesn't sell the painting like he did King Boo, they won't be a threat.

* The mythical Mario Bros, like Sans before, are able to dodge or counter your every move, no matter the weapon of choice, they're definitely not lazybones, and are deceptively fit... * However, in the very slim chances where they ever get hit, the mustachioed heroes can tank heavy damage with minimal issue, and learn from their mistakes... not only that, in the case of becoming worn out, the plumber par wields a massive array of items to replenish themselves... having more items at a time than you could ever dream of having... it feels like karma is catching up more than ever. * With surreal amounts of dodging, and a minimal amount of healing in-between, you understand is a true battle of resilience, way beyond every battle you had before condensed into one, and the side that gives in the most is the side that will lose... and yet, despite having an unlimited amount of retries, it's almost impossible to even imagine a world where the brothers can be truly defeated, even a "perfect run" might fail to be enough, since they seem to reach said level throughout the fight... you can't dish out enough damage to truly take them down, not even with your XP and LV being so close to truly max out. (For only two targets remain here in the Underworld, remember?) * Despite everything that can be possibly thrown at them, the Mario Bros are holding up their own without any difficulty... judging by the steady way they dance, it seems they're not worried about losing at all... the mockery in their act is sickening... *a fuel to our hatred.* * ... Throughout the endless fights, there's one very important detail you manage to catch up on... despite their apparent superiority, they are *not* fighting for vengeance, they are *not* fighting to kill, and they seem soft of heart... may this be true way to end this fight? * In one of your attempts, you decide to avoid attacking the Bros. entirely, only focusing on defending yourself, and trying to ACT, and convince them to stop this fight... which works surprisingly fast, as the shorter, red hero approaches innocently, willing to forgive you... which is the moment where you decide to betray him, and take Mario down in a single blow, his body twirling before plummetting to the ground. One of them is down, *only one is left.* * The green, weaker of mind one, is fittingly left in a state of complete shock, but his brother is unconscious and lethally wounded, they can't fight together anymore, dealing with him will be much easier... the tide seems to be turning in... your... what?.. no... NO... THAT CAN'T POSSIBLY BE A THING. IT CAN'T BE. HE WAS *DEFEATED,* YOU CAN'T SIMPLY "HEAL" FROM *DEFEAT.* RETRY? SURE, BUT IN THIS TIMELINE HE SHOULD BE *DEAD* ALREADY. NO ITEM CAN BE ABLE TO UNDO THAT- * . . . * The green one seems to have noticed the presence accompanying you... and after a speech of italian gibberish, he seems to be preparing a very strange machine... which in further inspection, seems to be a plain old vacuum, which he lifts with *determination,* as if it was the definitive response to the anomaly he just witnessed... and... * . . . * The vacuum... it was made specifically for reality-bending spirits, wasn't it?... well, I guess I gave it my all, but from now on, you are alone in this. (How much Determination have these two, anyways???)

Honestly, in a potential future Mario and Luigi game, I'd like to see a final boss that gives you "Max Control" (you get every single attack and ability from previous games) That'd be really fun and chaotic.

I like how it’s basically canon that when a character is a ghost they draw them transparent and sometimes using grey/slightly darker colors instead of the main colors to indicate that they aren’t supposed to be visible, but can be seen by the watchers.

The way Bros stand parallel to Frisk and Chara implies that they can actually see Chara. And by extension could directly see their souls. Given the connection between souls and magic in Undertale. And the Bros being shown to manipulate magic to a low degree. It makes sense

You know, I thought it was okay at first, but when you started going in a completely unique direction that didn't necessarily correlate to the work you were deriving from?? That's when I started getting genuinely impressed. Originality is something I feel this fandom is severely lacking in, so seeing you taking so many creative liberties was honestly really incredible and sold me on the work. The best part of this is knowing that, (ignoring save file reset abilities) Mario and Luigi win easily. Not only can they dodge attacks, just like Frisk can, but they can deal damage back through their evasion. Plus, Frisk is one person, but the bros have each other. They can perform insanely overpowered attacks, keep each other topped up, and one could literally carry the other bro if need be. It's crazy how powerful the Mario Bros are together. The only thing that makes them an equal fight is when they're separated.

I feel like a mechanic this fight would have is the brothers having to pull one another out of the way of a slash, using mario's button to pull luigi out if the way and vice versa. I don't think you can jump over a vertical slash.

I could see Mario & Luigi with a Heart like Companion that was once one of the Humans that made the Barrier & helps Mario & Luigi with her magic, mainly by letting them remember resets, warp to save points they remember being in, & even negate a few resets, though doing this really taxes her. She could even sacrifice herself to completely negate a true reset from happening long enough for Mario & Luigi to step in.

for all those people in chat who arguing who would win, Luigi at max level with the giant shell would literally take 0 damage so he wouldn't even need to dodge. Edit: not exactly max level just so he has enough hp to take 0 damage in combination with the bro socks which increase his defense when carrying a KO'd mario.

*Spoilers for Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and UnderTale* *Spoilers will be in bold-faced text for the readers' convenience* 17 days after the events of M&L:BiS... *Princess Peach and Bowser's parties are both rebuilding from recent events. What with Bowser still not recovered from his fight with the Dark Star and the Mario Brothers,* Princess Peach sees the perfect opportunity to allow the two heroes a vacation. Luigi, with his great experience travelling between his repeated trips to various mansions to capture ghosts to the time he travelled the world when Mario went missing, lead preperations for the trip, and, in no time at all, the brothers were on a flight to a far calmer country to enjoy three days of uninterrupted exploring. Halfway through their first day on the ground, at roughly noon, they came across a mountain with legends of missing people and horrifying monsters within. Mario and Luigi, the latter a bit less enthusiastic than the former, then explored along the mountainside. They soon found a cave housing ancient text carved into smooth, stone walls, pillars covered with moss, and masses of vines all around, feeding into a large, dome-like room with a chasm taking up the majority of the space inside. Luigi, peering into the depths below, lost his footing and slipped into the maw, Mario leaping in soon after. Little did they know that soon, the rumors surrounding this legendary mountain would present themselves as fact before their very eyes. World Mechanics: • While in the underground, a blend of the stylazations of UnderTale and M&L:BiS make up the menu designs, be they the equipment menu or the blocks Mario and Luigi select in battles. While menu selection is similar to M&L:BiS, the blocks and menus are stylized to fit UnderTale's aesthetic. The battle blocks, from left to right, are the Fight Block, used to select whether to jump or use the hammer and what enemy to attack with the blade graphic from UnderTale's FIGHT command, the Act Block to interact with the enemies and get them to stop being hostile towards you, using the image beside the letters from UnderTale's ACT command, the Special Attack Block used to issue Bros. Attacks with a graphic of three scattered stars, the Badge Block for switching Badge types with a graphic of a blank badge made of two seperate parts, the Mercy Block used to spare or flee away from the encounter and the enemies within it, and the Item Block to use items from the Bros' collective inventory. In order to achieve that, they visit Alphys' Lab for the third time, finally getting to enter it for the second. Inside, nothing is changed aside from a note left on the floor in the center of the room. It states that the room that seems like a restroom is actually an elevator and that it is finally time for the brothers to learn the truth. The two enter the elevator only for it to malfunction and drop them into a dimly-lit lab. After encountering an amalgamate miniboss or two, the bros get to the D.T. Extractor, where Alphys was waiting for them. Alongside explaining the amalagamates, Alphys explains the function of the D.T. Extractor: removing determination from human souls. Alphys entrusts Mario with the last vial of determination that the Extractor produced, as well as the last existing one in her possession, and the three leave the lab together, Alphys feeling reassured that her friends will accept her, even after learning the horrible accidents that occurred when Alphys first discovered the properties of determination.* Soon after leaving the lab with the vial of determination, Sans the Skeleton, a resident of Snowdin Town and the brother of the great soon-to-be Royal Guard Papyrus, calls Mario's new phone, which Alphys made for him and Luigi to use to talk with their new friends. He talks about a serious situation involving the disappearance of multiple monsters and how Frisk, the brothers' newest human friend, could possibly be the one causing it. He then tells them to travel through the CORE and New Home to meet him before King Asgore is put in danger. Making their way past *the room where Mettaton is fought, where Mettaton NEO's remains lay,* and into the Final Corridor, Mario and Luigi finally encounter Frisk for a showdown.

Hard to say how this'd go. Real world physics? It's a little kid and a ghost against two grown men. But this ain't real world physics. In terms of numbers? Tough call. The way stats scale for Undertale and M&L are _kinda_ similar at a glance, but damage behaves quite differently. Yeah, Frisk/Chara have plenty of LV, but the bros would, too. They've been fighting Bowser and his army for _years_ and have probably killed at least a few _hundred_ soldiers. Then again, how do 1up mushrooms factor in? They _do_ seem to be canon to the series, after all. Does a kill still yield EXP if the enemy doesn't (permanently) die? And what of determination? Do the bros have it? I don't mean in terms of "being determined" but in Undertale's terms. The biggest issue is this, though: we only ever see the damage Frisk does to monsters. Undertale's monsters are _very_ fragile compared to humans. Frisk isn't exactly known to be a physical powerhouse, either; all that destructive power comes from DETERMINATION and LOVE, not brute strength. It might not sound like much, but for all we know Frisk/Chara might not even be able to do much damage to the bros. Well, okay, that was the _second_ biggest issue. The biggest issue is that both sides can dodge. It's entirely possible for this to be a stalemate with neither side able to land a hit.

People are forgetting that in some boss battles starlow will help you avoid 1 type of attack like in the bowser one when ever he shoot fire the bros have to grab on to starlow to avoid the fire so they would be able to avoid the knife slashes

You know, if I recall correctly, the Monsters are super vulnerable to killing intent, which is why Chara is able to kill them with just a toy knife. (at least, until they get a real one.) If that's the case, Mario and Luigi should more or less stomp here.

I can just imagine 2 fan games showing this exact fight, but from both perspectives and both with their own mechanics from the games -For Mario and Luigi, Frisks main attacks would all revolve around the weapons found in the underground, though their first attempt will always be with the real knife on Luigi, which would be a hammer counter. Phase 2 would have chara take over Frisk's body -For Frisk, the bro's main attacks would be variations of the bro attacks, starting with the shell. Phase 2 would occur when one of the bros faints, causing the other to use a 1 up mushroom the next turn and making their attacks faster

Realistically frisk would get crushed especially with how durable Mario and luigi are. The only reason frisk does so well against monster's is because of their killer intent which weakens the monsters by alot. They don't have that luxury with the Mario Bros.

This needs a fight and just its possible to play on both side (Mario and Luigi or Frisk/Chara) that would be so cool

Imagine the absurdity of defeating Sans, and then having the Mario Bros walk in *behind* you and this starts playing. You cut them down, they just resurrect from a 1-Up and keep fighting. When their life counter starts getting low, Mario covers Luigi as the green bro pulls out a shell and bounces it off a wall, doing the infinite life exploit. They can’t die, you can’t die, the battle is at an eternal impasse.

This is an awesome song! But let's consider the potential outcome of a hypothetical fight between Mario & Luigi and Frisk. First of all general considerations: - Mario & Luigi are HUMANS, meaning that Frisk’s effectiveness is probably massively reduced as Humans are far stronger in Undertale Lore Also, just to mention it, M&L are two ADULTS. Frisk is a CHILD. - I will only take confirmed material and gameplay into consideration so both parties stick to their canon abilities. - Both parties retain their most important abilities: - Dodging (both) - Resetting (Frisk) - Countering (M&L) - Inventory (both) - Duo interaction (two turns in one, healing each other, bros attacks) (M&L) - Each party will fall for each attack only once, dodging (and countering) it consistently afterward. - No access to items that are not inherently a part of the fight, like the inventory items. Applying Undertale rules to Mario & Luigi would put them at the max level of 20 as they have gathered even more EXP than Frisk could ever hope to archive in one Genocide run. Being LV 20 means they would be out to do at least as much damage as Frisk does. They would also have the ability to dodge infinitely after learning the attacks, like Frisk. Important to note here is the lack of attacks that Frisk has, only having one kind of attack per item and for each of these items they carry they have one healing Item less. At their best, they have 8 different attacks and no healing items. If we assume that the bros filled their Undertale Inventory with each 8 1-Ups Frisk will be out of attacks before the 1-Ups are used up, which means that the bros won’t die. If we give the bros a collective inventory and Frisk one-hit attacks they will be able to kill one of the bros, but not the other before running out of attack options. They could also change equipment like Frisk. The bros would also offer a diverse move set which will surely make Frisk struggle. Applying Mario & Luigi rules to Frisk means that they would have LOWER stats than both brothers individually as they haven’t earned as much experience as these do in just one game (they are also not even an adult nor a superhero!) They would also need to learn each of the brothers' attacks, which are not few if we consider all duo attacks that make sense to apply here from all M&L games or even just the moveset from a single M&L game for that matter! Now we assume that both parties have full inventories of 99 of each item from their respective game the bros outdo Frisk again, even if we were to give them a collective inventory! Frisk only gains one attack more but can probably survive all of the USUAL attacks but we also have to consider that Mario & Luigi can always COUNTER an attack, which means that after Frisk lands one hit, which will probably not even kill for the reasons above, they will be annihilated through the counter to their own attacks in the progressing fight. Sure, it will take a while but the bros come out victoriously. Letting each work how they usually work in their own games makes it a little more questionable on the other hand, as we would need to translate the stats in some way but as we have nothing to gauge both strength levels on that is a very vague way to approach it. It can be assumed that Frisk’s stats will end up lower compared to Mario & Luigi in comparison, not being out to kill them with one hit but severely injuring them. But even if we assume that Frisk one-hits they can’t combat a full inventory of items. Depending on the rules applied, both parties could gain the upper hand, but assuming both parties have full inventories and max-level stats, Mario & Luigi would likely emerge victorious due to their wide array of attacks, them being a duo, the being human and them individually having more EXP and LV and thus higher stats. In the end, I would assume that Frisk kills one of the brothers a few times, never killing both, and would be killed by none of the attacks but die to the counters from M&L. If we even take the counters out of the equation it will probably be an infinite fight as both parties are unable to land a hit on the enemy after Frisk hit 8 times in their turns. For those who think this fight is a stalemate because both parties have the ability to SAVE, keep in mind Flowey literally states he too had the ability to save. Keyword there, 'had'. He explicitly tells you that he can't anymore because "Apparently YOUR desires for this world override MINE." This is proved by the omega / photoshop Flowey fight, where YOU lose your ability to SAVE to Flowey because he has more determination than you do thanks to the 6 human souls he stole. If this is the case, the Mario Bros would theoretically have higher priority since they have two human souls compared to Frisk's one. And no, Chara doesn't have a soul, they don't count.

I had mild expectations coming into this video, but to say they were exceeded would be an understatement.

Usually RU-vid recommended is wierd as hell, but every once in a while, it delivers beauty unto my doorstep! BIS was an amazing game, and this just solidifies the beautiful music design of both thay and undertale. Ggs man. Keep making bangers.

This is actually such a big plottwist for Frisk and Chara. Just imagine it like this; Frisk/Charas power was the ability to always reset when they die. But according to Undertale lore, only the most determined one get the ability. In this case, this would be Mario & Luigi since they are in the protagonist role. Sans, Undyne, Asgore all got killed by the power of Reset used my Frisk and Chara. And now the same weapon is used against them.
